Beautiful home and great location! I would definitely stay again...beds and pillows were comfortable. The only thing I would recommend ahead of time is bring extra toilet paper...all that was in the House was on the roll and no paper towels. Great stay!
Not as Advertised
We reserved this location for a family reunion. Upon arriving discovered it was on very public Memorial grounds and not at all how it appeared. Not only was it not private at all, there was heavy road noice and lights from traffic constantly streaming by. The house was simply not suitable and very different than portrayed. It a small block house on the same property as the Lee Mill in the pictures, to which the front half is closed off and the back portion used for a Vending booth of sorts for events. There was not even a paper towel roll or ketchup packet in the hose for common use. It appeared as if they had recently renovated a spec house to sell quickly and decieded on the spur to rent it out in the meantime. Unnotabely, the fridge was uber loud, the bathroom sink never fully turned off, and the toliet seat was half secured....plus the mattresses were the worst ever!! The common living and kitched pace were totally seperated and there was not enough seating to have eveyone relaxing comfortable. The tiny side poorch wasnt even worth hanging out on considering you look out over a concrete parking area only to enjoy the sound of traffic from town.
When we called to describe our issues and ask for an amiable resolution, the owner acted as if he was very new at this -or- he simply didnt care to reconcile with us...
So if your into that sort of thing, rent away!!!
I wish the weather had not been so cold, wet and rainy on the days you scheduled your stay. For some reason It appeared that only 2 people stayed at the residence, instead of the 5 people scheduled to stay.
The side deck is 12x36 over looking the Historic Lee & Gordon Grist Mill and the West Chickamauga branch.
The entire property is gated and closed after dark and situated off of a back two lane road with very low traffic and virtually no traffic at all after dark.
The House is a wood framed and wood sided setting on a block foundation as seen in the pictures.
There are 3 buildings on the 4 acre lot, the Pierce House, The Wallace House and the Lee Gordon Grist Mill. The Pierce House is spaciously located on the upper north corner of the lot opposite of the Historic Lee & Gordon Grist Mill and the Wallace House.
The 1100 sq ft. house has been renovated and never for sale. The house does offer a separated large 3000 sq ft. open ball room attached to the back portion of the house that has never been used for vending booths. The room is only used as a changing room when the Lee & Gordon Grist Mill is rented for a wedding ceremony.
The beds, mattress, and lien are new and haven't had any complaints about the mattresses from previous tenants. The listing and rental agreement describes what is provided by the owner.
All appliances are new and myself or maintenance was not able to find an issue with the refrigerator or any noise.
The Rental Agreement states we have maintenance available for any problems if you call, but can never guarantee there will not ever be a problem such as a leaky faucet or loose commode seat.
The pictures represent the inside and outside of the house very well, also the house sq. footage is listed on the site.
VRBO offers the ability to ask question before and after reserving the rental directly from the owner. The listing and rental agreement describes what is provided by the owner.
All and all the property is nice clean, well maintained and boasts many surrounding amenities as described in the rental agreement and on the VRBO listing.
We very much enjoyed our stay here!
Great Location - very close to the Battlefield
The house is very clean and situated next to the historic mill house. It is located within ease of driving distance to the Chickamauga Battlefield and the associated historic sites. We had a minor issue and Management was very responsive. Overall, a very nice location, well maintained and very comfortable accommodations. We would stay here again.
Since we were evacuated from South Carolina from hurricane Florence we were so grateful for this stay! The view of the old mill was gorgeous and certainly gave us pause to reflect on our country’s sacrifice. We left a list of a few things that can assist future rental, and since we were able to do this at the last minute we couldn’t complain. It was 20-30 minutes from any attractions in Chattanooga, lookout mountain, and shopping so were thankful. Hopefully others will follow!
Clean and nice location
The place is very clean and close to grocery store. The downtown area is really cute with a few shops. Lots of history in this little town.
