Mexican Sunrise House...Hola! Your hosts are the Gutman's who reside in Ajijic.

Wake up every morning to a Mexican sunrise in a Brand New Home. Why not rent your very own two-story Mexican designed home? The Mexican Sunrise House is located in the most desirable area of Ajijic-Las Salvias area. This exquisite home is in walking distance to everything and set into the hills with a lake and mountain-view. Did you know that Ajijic has some of the best year round climates in the world? No wonder it is called 'the land of eternal spring' and hosts 'the' largest number of U.S. and Canadian ex-pats in the world!

Are you considering retirement? This home will certainly give you the true flavor of our village. Ajijic is an excellent getaway to a mild climate and a chance to experience the authentic Mexican life. Enjoy a brilliant sunrise, church bells, fragrant flowers and be peaceful in the hills of this village. This BRAND NEW home is secured and located in a very safe area where you can walk the village streets- Ajijic is a 500 year old romantic cobblestone village.

Centrally located, the Mexican Sunrise House is a charming two story home with two bedrooms and a full bathroom on the upper level. The downstairs includes a large living room with French doors and large windows, open concept kitchen, breakfast bar, half-bathroom and covered terrassa for outdoor dining. There is secure parking if you choose to bring or rent a car during your stay in Ajijic. Our guests tell us it is a home away from home.

The spectacular terrace off the master bedroom has exceptional views of the lake and mountains. Don't be surprised if it calls you to sip your first cup of coffee in the morning while watching the sun rise over the village. The master bedroom has an American queen-size pillow top bed, custom built in closets and high 'cupola' ceiling. All linens and towels are quality fabrics, understanding the needs of spoiling our guests. All the rustic furniture is hand painted by a local artist. The master bathroom includes: Mexican tiled sink, shower with a built in tiled sitting bench, and stained glass windows.

The second bedroom has a high-riser(day bed) that sleeps two, feather beds for that European comfort, as well as an elegant hand painted rustic desk to set up your laptop computer. High speed internet access is already set up for you. A large window with views of the mountain creates a quiet charm and rustic beauty.

As you descend the staircase an artistic stained glass window allows light into the home and adds more Mexican charm. The downstairs area has lots of windows and French doors to create a bright and airy feeling. Mexican arches and nooks are set off by dramatic lighting and 'boveda' Mexican styled ceilings. Relax and watch your favorite TV programs or listen to your favorite music on the satellite TV with hundreds of stations: sports, CNN, BBC, movies, music, etc. (we have Canadian and U.S. programs)

The Mexican crafted kitchen has all the modern appliances and designed for easy living. You can prepare meals while still being part of the living area. The kitchen includes a large pantry, gas oven and stove top, microwave oven and triple filtered water.

Protected from the sun you can enjoy the downstairs terrace and enjoy dining out in the evening. A Mexican tiled fountain provides you with a quiet Zen moment and you will understand why you are in paradise as the tropical ceiling fans provide cool breezes.

For your convenience: US washer and dryer, storage room for golf clubs and sports equipment, secured off street parking.

We also like to remind you that we have another home, The Mexican Jewel House-VRBO #104029 that is close by for families and friends that want to enjoy their visits together, but maintain their privacy and comfort. Just ask for both homes if you are considering multi-family/friend visits to our village.

Maid and gardener services are included as are gas, electric and local phone calls. There are absolutely no hidden charges!

We've taken the pleasure to supply you with a list of our favorite restaurants, shops, village outdoor market days and full day outings to artistic and historical cities. We enjoy stocking the fridge with a few goodies to get you going the first day you arrive and you can certainly pop down the street for some fill-ins. This home is so well located that many visitors never use their cars. Just three streets away you will find a variety of small fruit and vegetable markets, 2 fish markets and a small grocery store. You can stock up on our local produce and enjoy the fresh foods.

Only 3 minutes from The Mexican Sunrise House, we have our very own baker (Pan). Walk down the cobblestones to the original rustic bakery and buy warm fresh rolls every morning, croissants, sweet rolls (pan dulce) and have an authentic experience with our local baker who speaks English! Once inside this amazing bakery-you can special order: bagels, baguettes, whole wheat croissants and cactus bread.

If you are here for affordable plastic surgery, dental work or medical treatments-this home is a perfect place to be peaceful. A complete dental cleaning is just $40, hour-long massages are $28 and you can choose from more 'spoiling' during your stay.

Remember – location, location, location! Just a short stroll away and you are at the main plaza with over 40 international restaurants, local artist galleries, shops and the true Mexico, at your feet. Walk the cobblestone streets, get caught in the local sights and sounds of the village, and enjoy what over 7,000 North Americans call home.

Perfect in every way! Thank you Leo

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I just returned from spending 8 nights at this wonderful property. Well located, clean, secure, comfortable beds and great wifi. We had a car and the property has a secure space if you need it. We found ourselves walking most places in Ajijic and only using the car for trips around the lake or to Chapala and Guadalajara. A 10 minute walk to the very pleasant square and another 5 to the lakefront. A very good kitchen if you want to prepare your own meals but many good restaurants in walking distance. Everything was great but here was the highlight... Leo was the best and most organized host you will find anywhere. We've stayed at many excellent rental homes and apartments around the world and this was hands down the best. After you receive Leo's welcome info you really won't have too many questions as he has anticipated almost anything you can think of. Leo is responsive and reliable. Not only that but he's a nice guy and is a wealth of knowledge about the area. If you can rent this property you should do it. You will not be disappointed.

Absolute perfection… a charming Mexican Casa Sunrise !!

  • 5 of 5

My family of 4 just spent a week in this very comfortable sunrise house. We loved the authentic Mexican feel and attention to detail within the entire house, as well as the surrounding landscaping. Everything is laid out beautifully, well-kept and perfectly functional, everything works! The outside patio was perfect for enjoying coffee and breakfast with fresh baked bread from the local bakery (a two-minute walk from the house). A nice breeze keeps the palm trees moving while the birds are whistling away. We left all the windows opened 24/7 to enjoy the perfect weather and sounds of nature (kaka doodle doo…). The upstairs master bedroom and patio gives you a nice view of the lake through green palm leaves. The grounds are very well kept with trees, plants, ivy and bougainvillea’s through-out with a washer and dryer tucked away just outside the front door. We had a rental car and used the off-street parking in the drive way, very secure and private from the street. Leo is the perfect host and provides all the info and local knowledge you will need to get the full experience of Ajijic (a seven-minute walk to the central Jardin). It was nice meeting Gaby as well. “Cali” the dog welcomes you and loves to play. The layout is such where a walkway and brick wall separates the properties for complete privacy. Leo has two, 2 bedroom homes (Sunrise and Jewel) adjacent to each other, private yet easily accessible. This is a perfect layout for two couples or two families wanting to share the experience. This was our first time in Ajijic, loved the weather and friendly people everywhere we went from Chapala to Jocotepec. The restaurants were wonderful, very reasonably priced and delicious. We are definitely coming back and likely will stay much longer than a week the next time we come. Hasta pronto Ajijic….

A Little Piece of Paradise - RA, Toronto, Ontario, Canada

  • 5 of 5

Again this year, I returned to stay in the lovely Mexican Sunrise House in Ajijic. However, my three week stay was too short so next year, to avoid disappointment, I have already booked this wonderful place for the month of March.

I love Mexico, I love Ajijic, and I love the Sunrise House so I am resubmitting my

review of a year ago as it truly expresses how I feel.

This clean, well cared for, private and charming Mexican house was my home away from home for the month of March. As a single woman on vacation it is important that I stay in a safe and secure place and I could not have been happier. Centrally located in an upscale neighbourhood, it is a short stroll to La Plaza, the centre of town. There is no need for a car and in fact that is part of the charm of Ajijic. You can walk everywhere from this location. The Mexican people are friendly and the children polite. Say hola and you will get a smile and hola back and vice versa. Upon arrival at the Sunrise House you will find a bottle of wine waiting for you along with breakfast supplies for the next morning - bread, jam, butter, juice, eggs, and milk. The house is well equipped with every convenience you can think of (lots of hangars ladies). An added bonus, if you enjoy eating out, are the many great restaurants with reasonable prices. The house is bright and cheery because of the well placed windows on both floors and the Mexican decor. The master bedroom has a view of Lake Chapala and the mountains, and at night there is a lovely breeze with the windows open. In the evening you might hear the odd firecracker or a dog barking, but by 10 p.m. it is usually quiet. But the best feature for me was the second floor balcony/ terrace off the master bedroom. This was the perfect spot for morning coffee, reading a book, drinking a glass of wine or....while looking at the bougainvillea, the lake and the mountains. Leo is a most attentive, but not intrusive, landlord. He lives next door and if there is any problem, he is always helpful and attends to it immediately. He wants you to thoroughly enjoy your visit, and I have so much, that I am returning for a third year. You will find that Ajijic and the Sunrise House are special places. Hasta luega Leo.

Wonderful Oasis

  • 5 of 5

From the moment we entered the garden of. The Mexican Sunrise house, which was like a European atrium with beautiful flowers and greenery, we knew we were smitten. Inside the house is equally beautiful with vibrant colours and attractive wall decorations. It is compact yet feels spacious. We could sit outside and enjoy a glass of wine with lunch 2 blocks from the busy centre of Ajijic in perfect peace. We woke in the morning to a view of Lake Chapala, then have coffee outside on our bedroom terrace. Although the kitchen isn't exactly high end, it has all the items you need to cook a meal. We were 5 minutes from several good restaurants which was very convenient. Then we'd return after a walk to our cool and tranquil oasis.

Hidden Treasure in Ajijic

  • 5 of 5

Having just returned from a one month vacation in Mexico and reflecting on our experiences, we feel so very blessed to have found the hidden gem of a home that is the Mexican Sunrise House. Tastefully decorated in true Mexican fashion with all the modern comforts today's traveler expects in their accommodations. I am a cooking enthusiast and really enjoyed the large well laid out kitchen. Breakfasts while watching the sunrise from the master terrace were especially memorable. Leo's home is a short walk to all that Ajijic has to offer, shops, art galleries and restaurants are all within a 5 - 10 minute walk. While only one block off of the main drag, you feel as though you are part of the local community. Leo has thought of everything for his guests comfort and has amassed and organized an abundance of information about Ajijic and surrounding area to help his guests get the most out of their time spent there. We highly recommend this exceptional property for a trip to Ajijic for any reason. Kudos and thanks Leo!
