About this property
Park House in Walkable Banker's Hill
Newly restored to it's 1920 grandeur, The Park House sleeps 4 people in equitable bedrooms.. Easy walk to Balboa Park and San Diego's finest restaurants. Located in "Park West" between downtown and Hillcrest. As photos show, no expense spared! More information
The Park House combines the best of both worlds—location and amenities. The entire ground floor of a 1920's duplex set in the center of San Diego's hippest neighborhood, adjacent to Balboa Park. Completely outfitted with laundry and designer kitchen with new equipment and amenities. The space boasts gleaming Hardwood floors and a Batchelder tile fireplace. Bankers Hill is an uptown San Diego neighborhood bordered by Mission Hills and Hillcrest to the north, by Downtown to the south and Balboa Park to the east. It sits perched on the hillside over the San Diego bay and airport. It was named “Bankers Hill” because of its reputation for being home to the affluent. Many of the homes, designed by the likes of Irving Gill and other notable architects, date back to the late 1800s and some have been restored into bed-and-breakfast inns and office suites occupied by accountants and attorneys. In deference to our neighbors, the space is never rented for parties. 2 night minimum on weekends. 11.05% occupancy tax included.
Free laundry room and private courtyard. This is a friendly residential area and we would ask that you respect our neighbors' tranquility.
We are available to our guests for orientation and to answer any questions.
Home to San Diego's turn of the century elite, this park-adjacent neighborhood is an exciting mixture of mansions and luxury residential towers. The Park House unit consists of mirror image bedrooms and a single bathroom with shower. Both rooms contain queen beds and luxury linens. Newly restored...now open for guests, more photos coming soon!
Street parking available. Buses operate on 1st and 5th Avenues. Within 5 minutes from San Diego International Airport, downtown and Hillcrest.
Each mirror-image bedroom is equitable in its size and appointments. All queen beds with luxury linens with plenty of storage and closet space. Completely outfitted designer kitchens with new equipment and amenities.

The location is great. Walking distance to Balboa Park, great restaurants and shopping.
The owners were accommodating and responsive.
Would definitely stay here again!
I came to celebrate my birthday with my sister as I do every year and we had a great time. I fell in love with this neighborhood last year and was so happy to be back in the area. The apartment was lovely, comfortable and so clean! Hope to return again next year.
We so enjoyed our stay at Park House. Park House is very well equipped with high quality furnishings, comfortable beds, a nice, well-equipped kitchen space, beautiful large bathroom, and room to gather in the living room. The unit and its entrance are very quaint. On street, unmetered parking was easy to come by. It is located in a lovely neighborhood we spent some time exploring and is a short drive from many San Diego attractions. We would stay again.

Eclectic house in a great location
We had a great stay at Don and Laura's house on our recent trip to SD. The kitchen was well stocked including BOTH stainless steel and teflon cooking pens and pots that I personally have appreciated. It is a 7 min drive to the Zoo and Balboa park and lots of great restaurants. The owners were very responsive. The house is located on a very quite street, was very clean and beautifully decorated. We would go back.

Thanks for staying with us and taking great care of the property! Come back!
Spotless, quiet home in a mellow neighborhood minutes from city attractions and the downtown district. Super-comfortable bedding with a nice kitchen, washer/dryer, living hangout area. Cleary extremely well-cared for with the character of a vintage home that has all the modern amenities. Communications w/ the property were timely and clear. Highly recommend / would definitely return.
The apartment decor is very unique and well done. Gorgeous tiled bathroom with cool under vanity lights that helped at night. Some really nice touches were the included shampoo, conditioner, body wash, q-tips and oversized bath towels. Kitchen was nicely appointed with everything one would need at your fingertips. It's in a great neighborhood location near Balboa Park, the zoo and down town. Best of all, the host was a great communicator and quickly responded to my questions.
Overall A+. This is a ground floor unit [3 steps up] of a 5-unit house with a 2-unit building at the rear which was probably, about 100 years ago when the house was built, the original stables and servants quarters. The unit we stayed in was clean with adequate dishes, cutlery, etc. However it was dark. Overhead lighting required during daytime. Windows opaque and sealed shut with c1950s dusty venetian blinds. Bathroom good. Parking on street only. Bed soft. Ample bedding and towels. Eclectic furniture, some VG antiques. District VG but transitioning downwards.

I think you may have mixed up this with another property. Park House is full of light and had windows replaced in 2020, they open. Blinds are new as well and cord free.
My wife wanted to visit SD Zoo and although, I wanted to stay in The Hillcrest District, this location was just fine. It is blocks away from Hillcrest & Balboa Park. On our first night, we walked to Parc (French restaurant) for dinner and from there, walked to SD Zoo. We did Lyft to breakfast in Hillcrest but probably could have walked, if we were not anxious to get to the zoo after.
We appreciated the 40’s house reminding me a lot of my grandmothers. It was nicely decorated, loved the old telephone bench. 2 small bottles of water in each room, much needed as SD water is terrible tasting. We stayed in bedroom closest to the bathroom and bed and pillow very comfy. Neighborhood was quiet in morning and night. Shampoo, conditioner, body wash, q-tips much appreciated. I have been bamboozled with nothing in other places.
My only critique, the toilet paper was single ply, maybe.
My wife and I discussed it would be a good place to bring our moms as there are only a couple steps to entrance with no steps inside. I also loved the light under bathroom vanity, to allow you to find the bathroom upon waking up in a new environment but not lighting up the whole house.
Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us. The house is charming, perfectly clean, and well-appointed. Beds were very comfortable. Water pressure in the shower was impressive! The house is in a great location - close to everything. We were minutes away from the airport, train station, Old Town, Gaslamp Quarter, and steps from Balboa Park. Easy parking right out front every time. Don't miss Jimmy Carter's Mexican Food a block away. Great bar, service and delicious food. Perfection!
Absolutely lovely apartment. Great location within walking distance of restaurants, coffee shops, Balboa Park, and the Hillcrest area; an easy drive to airport, Old Town, Little Italy, and downtown. Beautifully decorated, very clean, and located in a quiet neighborhood. Property manager and owners were very responsive. Top notch rental!!
WE were able to walk to everything we needed. Despite being in Balboa park many times on previous visits, we enjoyed reading the detailed history of the park contained in the coffee table book.
Accommodations were perfect and the location was centered to many activities and restaurants. We were worried about parking, but was able to find a spot right in front of the property almost every night.
I believe my wife has already sent a review, but I wanted to back-up her positive comments with my own. Lovely property, incredible interior design, good neighborhood, in walking distance to Balboa and Zoo. Good vibe! Good comm's with management. Would absolutely stay here again!

Cute and quaint
Very nice place, conveniently located, comfy beds. Would stay again.
We loved this elegant, compact, user-friendly ground floor apartment. The Bankers Hill neighborhood was a joy to walk through. We walked across the Spruce Street Suspension Bridge, marveled at the incredible homes and gardens on nearby streets, explored the adjacent Hillcrest neighborhood, ate several meals at the friendly Jimmy Carter's Mexican Restaurant just down the street, and met many lovely neighbors. Our dogs loved the beautiful, peaceful courtyard behind the house. The cleanliness, furnishings, quietness and tastefulness of the unit made us feel so spoiled in a home away from home! Loved the tiled bathroom and the huge sofa, the comfortable beds and user-friendly kitchen!
Bankers Hill is within 15 or 20 minutes of virtually all key areas of San Diego, and this house is located on a quiet street in an attractive part of this neighborhood. Immaculate property, inside and out, and well stocked with all items a short term guest would need. The owner and property manager were extremely responsive and considerate throughout our two week stay. Net/net, an excellent choice for a San Diego visit.
