Casa Mia is a stylish 2-story residence at Villa Camino Alto, located in a private neighborhood off Route 90 between Cartagena and Turbaco, available for a minimum 3-night reservation or extended stay rental (at a reduced rate). Casa Mia is ideal for guests looking for a quiet getaway and features 2 spacious and comfortable bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, full kitchen, study with a pull-out couch and spectacular terrace views of the property, beautiful Cartagena and the Caribbean in the distance. Casa Mia accommodates 4 persons privately and an additional 1-2 persons on the pull-out futon in the lounge. Pricing for Casa Mia is for up to 4 persons with a nominal fee for 1-2 additional persons.

Villa amenities include a swimming pool, gazebo, gardens, patio, outdoor grill area, secure entry from the quiet road and private parking. The 3/4 acre property is hilly, has fruit trees and many birds.

Casa Mia is available year-round for persons who seek the tranquility of this outside-the-city environmentally protected area and proximity to historical and cultural Cartagena. Guests may want to check out Cartagena architecture and churches that date to the 1600’s, arts & crafts shops, street vendors, fancy and not-so-fancy boutiques (Colombian leather goods, tapestries & fabric are special features), and stroll the downtown full of people from around the world who gather in parks, sip coffee, and feast on fresh pastries.

The Matute Springs and the Botanical Garden are within an energetic walk as is the Selva Negra Restaurant owned by friends. Spend your stay relaxing poolside, enjoying the terrace views, local food and fauna, going for a walk or hike, picking up coral fossils down the hill or getting into a game of darts.

HOUSE RULES RE: GUESTS/VISITORS: The number of guests are those registered via the VRBO reservation. Any additional visitors (daytime only) must be approved by owners with a minimum of 24hr advance notice. No overnight stays are permitted other than the registered guests.

HOUSE RULES: no parties, loud music, events or non registered overnight guests are permitted at any time. By making a reservation with VRBO for Casa Mia at Camino Alto guests agree to these house rules AND agree that their reservation will be cancelled with no refund and the requirement that guests leave the property immediately if these house rules are not followed at the sole discretion of the owners.

Bill and Mariam, the hosts were excellent. Very responsive and easy to communicate with. The rental is very beautiful, and the grounds were amazing, safe and secure. If you are looking for a peaceful place off the beaten path, this is the place for you. Would not hesitate to choose this place again. Stocked refrigerator with a few essentials and freshly made plantains by the host were just an added bonus. Can not say enough how beautiful this rental is and they have an exceptional grounds keeper named Caesar that makes the place seem even more safe and secure. All amenities were new and the rental was spotless and clean. Would like to thank Bill and Mariam again for making us feel so comfortable.

Great Hosts, Beautiful Property

William and Myriam were wonderful hosts. They made us feel welcomed and went over and beyond to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. The property is beautiful and exactly like the pictures. The view from the balcony oversees the city of Cartagena. In the morning we were waken up by the sound of diverste types of birds. We highly recommend if looking for tranquility away from the city. Perfect quiet retreat

My stay a Casa Mia was the perfect way to relax and recharge. My friend and I were able to spend lazy hours in the hammock, lounging by the pool, hanging in the kiosko and catching the most fantastic sunsets from the balcony. The property is well cared for and is surrounded by the most lush vegetation. We watched iguanas and birds in the trees (rumor has it sloths are also found in the trees). It’s also not far from the botanical gardens which was even more fun when the monkeys came out to play! The breakfasts and lunches with fresh juice made by Doris were delicious and an easy introduction to local cuisine. The owners were very easy to work with and helpful in making arrangements. I will definitely be back for more R&R in the future.

Wonderful base for family adventure and relaxing

What a marvelous stay we had at Casa Mia at the Villa Camino Alto! It was a perfect retreat for our family- we couldnt have asked for a better experience. We had a week long stay and spent most of it at the property and in Turbacco but also ventured into Cartagena proper a couple days to explore the walled city and seaside areas which was an easy drive away. The property had everything we could need including beautiful flowers and scenery, a pool that we enjoyed multiple times a day, as well as a fully-equipped home. With the 2 stories and 3 bathrooms there was plenty of space for us to spread out and not be on top of each other. The kitchen had everything we needed to make out meals and the outdoor gazebo space was our favorite spot to enjoy the meals. The openness of the home was appreciated in the warm days- even given warm afternoon temperatures, with the windows and doors wide open and fans on we were cool enough to relax in the home. The AC worked great and we utilized that some evenings to cool off as bedtime approached. The beds were comfortable, everything worked as expected, and the property was immaculately maintained. Part two of our ten day stay.

We spent the first 7 days of our stay with our children who only had one week of vacation. My wife and I were then joined by two friends and we stayed another 3 days before moving on to Minca and Santa Marta. Please refer to our previous review for our thoughts about our stay at Bill and Myriam's property. It was a very positive experience.

The tropical weather, birds, flora and fauna make this villa a special place to vacation and enjoy the lifestyle of Colombian country living. You can't help but relax here with the gardens, natural spring-fed pool, hammocks and delicious traditional food, including fresh fruits and vegetables grown on the property.
