You will see wildlife around this enchanted private lodge overlooking the Caribbean Coast. We are located on a private rainforest preserve with trails through the canyons and ridges of endangered lowland rainforest. Stay a week, be amazed. Stay a month, be truly enchanted.
My bright and breezy home is in the jungle, on a private ridge, referred to as living “en las montanas” by locals. The cool hilltop breezes bring fresh air making living on the mountain so enjoyable, you may not want to leave, even to go to town.
Three levels of the home plus a stunning pool location bare witness to a sea-view that stretches for miles. Capture all the colors of the sea, morning, day and night. Watch her moods change and paint a new story for you each day.
I find delight in the home’s creative touches like hand-painted murals, mosaic tile, and reclaimed jungle hardwood. Being up on the jungle ridge watching the animals is so enjoyable that I usually spend way more time on the property than in town or even at the beach…
I have beds for 7, with extra sleeping space potential on 4 couches.
The main floor is a large open kitchen, dining and living space. Open the doors and take advantage of the breezy days refreshing the whole house. Keep bugs out by shutting doors and using yellow porch lights at night.
Kitchen is stocked with basic eating and cooking utensils, small skillet, medium skillet, small, medium and large pots with lids, baking sheet, plates, cups, microwave, coffee makings, and various food items. Help yourself and please leave it as you found it. Avoid supporting the wild bug life by cleaning up food and liquid as quickly as possible.
Main floor also has a bedroom that sleeps two to three and shared bathroom with tub.
The 50-foot covered porch is perfect for family gatherings or solo reading days.
Head up the beautiful spiral stairs to the jungle room. This area has a bed for two and two couches for lounging or extra sleeping space. It is life in the jungle canopy with panoramic Panama jungle and Caribbean Ocean views.
A private entrance to the spacious king master suite is down a short ramp to a covered deck offering a peaceful experience of private rainforest and ocean vistas. The large private bathroom has an open stone shower including a majestic jungle & sea view. There is separate entrance/exit leading upstairs to the main floor porch that keeps the space connected to the happenings of the home while providing plenty of privacy.
The pool overlooks the ocean, providing one of many stunning views the property offers. Take a morning or afternoon dip. Have a tea or cocktail party at the covered-bar area.
Be ready to photograph swinging white faced monkeys by the pool, teasing toucans floating across your view of the Panama Ridge, or a sloth or two if you slow down to take in the 360 degree canopy views. You may even get a most treasured visit from the Endangered Green Macaws. They have landed on the roof of the house and looked inside on several occasions. They are a true treasure to see in the wild.
Grab some provided beach towels and snorkel equipment and head to various secluded swimming and snorkeling beaches where the water is warm and a new blue every day.
It’s a short-brisk or a longish-slow walk down the hill to Playa Chiquita Beach, on the way you will likely see even more wildlife like howler monkeys, iguanas, sloths, agoutis, land crabs, and a multitude of incredible plant life. The walk back up the ridge can be a workout, but walk slow and always carry drinking water. Then enjoy a dip in the pool as a reward for treating yourself to a trip to the beach. ;) There are lots of beaches you can drive to or take a taxi to as well.
Brave the jungle with exclusive access to trails through my private nature preserve with enormous primary forest trees, a beautiful soothing creek, and a rancho house built in native style in the heart of the forest offering unbeatable views of Panama and an awe-inspiring experience of Costa Rica’s true rainforest jungle.
If renting a car to travel to CeiloMar, a four-wheel drive is best. My hill is steep and slick if rainy - as is the rest of Costa Rica. It will be worth extra cost for the access to other places such as parks and remote beaches.
A stay at CieloMar is truly enchanting. It will be a once-in-a-lifetime adventure for your family and friends. I consider it my honor to have you share my Almost Eden.
Thank you –Kerry, owner CieloMar.
