Great Cottage and Location
Great location for exploring all the Lake District. Internet access was the only challenge but the cottage was clean and well cared for with a well stocked kitchen for cooking. Off the street so very quiet and the hostess sent out a comprehensive list of places to go and things to see. We would definitely stay there again if available.

Relaxing break
This cottage is perfect for a relaxing break or holiday close to the Lakes. Very well maintained with a private and pretty garden. Linen and bedding are a bit tired, perhaps the owners would consider renewing them at some point. Although toilet rolls and handwash were supposed to be supplied, there was none, which we assumed was an oversight. However, I would recommend this accommodation and I would stay tere again if I needed to stay in the area.

Don't stay here
Communication with the host was problematic, frustrating & frankly futile. The host was disorganised, seemingly confusing our booking with another prior to our arrival and failed to update me as promised prior to our arrival. But the biggest issue was that the property was not cleaned prior to our arrival after the last guests left the same day we arrived. You can't contact anyone there as there is no phone signal but the cleaning company arrived the day after we did. I was told by the host the error was the cleaning company's, but it was the hosts response which has been appalling. She acknowledged it was a mistake and that it had happened before and offered to pay compensation to remedy this. Despite this promise she has failed to do so. I would not recommend this place because of our experience, nor would I recommend Vrbo who have been worse than useless in trying to resolve this matter. Both parties lack any integrity and neither care in the slightest about the customer's experience. I will never use Vrbo again, read the reviews out there before booking with them.

Lovely well-equipped cottage
This is a really lovely cottage with the best-equipped kitchen I've seen in a rental place! It was lovely and clean and any problems that arose were quickly dealt with by the owner who swiftly responded via text. It's an old cottage so there are a few little things that are a bit quirky (for example, the old doors and latches can be tricky to get the hang of) but they just lead to its charm and it's been modernised exceptionally well. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone wanting a quiet getaway that is ideally situated for exploring the Southern Lakes. We were attending a Buddhist Festival at the nearby Temple and it was just perfect for us!

cosy cottage in delightful location
We found the cottage to be well equipped, and situated in the heart of a lovely Lakes village location. It also happens to be a stone's throw ( well, not quite - 3.5 miles !) from the Manjushri Buddhist temple which we were attending for their spring festival.
We hope to be back again soon. Also, many thanks for the extensive information pack giving details about the area.

We loved our stay
We had a lovely weekend at this cottage. The beds were very comfortable, and the house had everything we needed. We sat out in the garden and the kids also really enjoyed playing out in the garden. We enjoyed cooking together (first time we used a slow cooker!), sitting around the dining room table having lengthy meals and using the sitting room at night to hang out in. Very conducive to a relaxing break. Excellent value for money. Would definitely book this cottage again. The owner is also very friendly and helpful.

Chilled out three days
We had a lovely stay with our family but there are three issues I'd like to bring to your attention.
Firstly one of the single beds had slats missing on the bed base, this made the mattress sag through the gap during the night (uncomfortable) When my granddaughter first sad on the bed when we arrived she near went straight through it.
Secondly the pillow cases on the bed in the en-suite bedroom smelt on our first night they we clearly not clean pillowcases they smelt of sweaty head and dirty hair, I had to wash them.
Thirdly I think you should forewarn your guest of the noise the macerator toilet makes in the en-suite. It woke us up several times throughout the night.

Hi Ann,
Thank you for your response it's always good to get feedback, we rely on a maintenance company as we live well over 100 miles away but I'll forward this on. I believe it was children jumping on the beds which broke the slats this had since been rectified and the guests were deducted the money to fix this from their deposit.the pillows is s concern but will bring this up. The macerator is a necessity as the main water pipe is at the other end of the property it should only go off if people use the facilities in the ensuite.
I hope you had a lovely stay despite this.
Kind regards
Rachel

Delightful homely cottage
We had a relaxing, delightful stay at Oronsay cottage. It had all the creature comforts and made one feel at home. It's situated in a beautiful part of the lakes with good access to the rest of the lakes district
Rachel was a superb host and dealt with a glitch we had with the boiler immediately and generously. Would definitely recommend Oronsay

Quaint country living
Charming cottage in a pleasant village just outside Ulverston. The cottage was very comfortable and accommodated our family of six adults and two children. The amenities at the cottage were great especially in the kitchen which had everything we needed to cook, even a roast dinner. We would definitely consider staying here again. Rachel (the owner) provides lots of local information prior to arrival and answered all of my questions when asked.

Propietario/a: Rachel Hunter
I am a young professional currently living in Liverpool and working as as Senior Designer in one of the UK’s biggest online retailers. I love the country, walking, running, arts and culture. I am married with a 4 year old daughter and I have a twin sister.
Por qué escogió este alojamiento
My late mother bought the property when I was 6, my sister and I had an amazing childhood in the cottage and village. 3 years ago sadly we lost our mother, and we wanted to keep the property on so we spent a year and lots of money renovating it to the standard it is today.
Qué hace que este alojamiento sea especial
It has beautiful views of the tarn and is in an idyllic village which is steeped in history. It is 16th Century and used to be an old wash house. It was merged into the cottage in-front originally, then it was made into 3 cottages, now, we have merged 2. Only through renovation work it has a couple of straight walls, all of the others are crooked! It has beams that have come from viking ships. My mother did a lot of travelling, the house is named after the SS Oronsay, a ship which she sailed to Australia on. She visited many countries and you can see artefacts from her travels on the walls.
