BRIGHT, Open, airy 2 BR/ 2 Baths house: Sleeps 6 in 4 beds (8 MAX on couch)
It all started in 2006 when we were a family of 3 (Midge, Aaron & Bodi, age 2) & we bought Casa Beya. The 2 years later we bought the run-down house next door. After a full remodel & enlarging the screened-in porch, we have created the perfect beach rental! Now Bodi is 13, Casa Beya has been sold to a wonderful couple from Canada. Midge (still the owner of The Seagrape Escape) runs guest Services/reservations for the 2 houses, while John & Judy manage all other aspects. They enjoy leaving cold Canada to warm their toes in the sand & can't wait to start bringing their young Grandchildren down to Belize.
Midge purchased this House in 2007
Why Midge chose Maya Beach
We initially came to Belize in 2005 for a 7 day epic mountain bike race, which started and ended at the Placencia Hotel. We fell in love with the culture, the people and the vibe on the Peninsula. On one particular bumpy bike ride down the rode from the village we came upon some newly constructed condo which were offering 'pre-construction' prices. We nibbled at the bait and were caught hook, line & sinker! However, we just knew we were not condo folks....so when we saw Casa Beya on the market, we never looked back. It has been a dream come true to be able design and run these houses as rentals. We have had many return guests, lots of honeymooners and even several memorable weddings on the property!! We are one of the only vacation rentals in the area that have a dock over the water and No where else iwill you find 2 rental houses, side-by-side, yet so private!

Perfectly Private Paradise!
If you have ever dreamed of relaxing on your own private beach, Seagrape will fit the bill. Of course, the added bonus is having all that you need in the way of creature comforts at your disposal. Not only is the Seagrape equipped with all your beach vacation needs to sail smoothly through any length of stay, the attentive and sweet caretakers, Martin and Diana, assist with any additional request from directions, suggestions and connections to services and activities. The area restarants have offered food choices and service like no other vacation location we have visited. The Belizian people are so welcoming and warm. We will certainly book again and maybe bring the whole family!
Great having a place on the water
Amazing family vacation!!!
We were so lucky to find Seagrape Escape! The property was perfect for the 5 of us, my husband , myself and 3 teenagers. We spent our mornings having breakfast on the dock or screened in porch followed by some paddle boarding and kayaking before we went off on our excursions to the village and tours. The caretakers Diana and Martin gave us excellent advice about tour companies and places to shop in the village. At the end of the day we usually ended up back on the dock or deck for some hammock lying (the swing bed was a huge hit with everyone) a beer and a swim before dinner.
The kitchen had plenty of supplies to make a home cooked meal and the grill was perfect for grilling the lobster that we purchased right off the boat earlier that day. On nights we were too tired to cook the Maya Beach Bistro and Bowling alley came to our rescue!
Because we chose August to visit Belize the weather was pretty warm but usually there was a nice breeze off the water and the AC units in the bedrooms made them super comfortable to sleep in.
This was our first trip to Central America and we cannot wait to get back! The Seagrape Escape was amazing!!!
Staying at the lovely Seagrape Escape will make returning to "real life" almost impossible!
The Seagrape Escape truly made our first trip to Belize an UnBelizeable experience!
During our stay, we were able to take advantage of an, almost, private beach and dock to enjoy the warm Belizean waters during the day and sitt under a blanket of stars at night. Additionally, the huge screened-in porch was the place where we enjoyed a morning cup of coffee (with, of course, Belizean coffee liquor and Baileys) to watch the gorgeous sunrises or simply rock in the bed-swing and listen to the beautiful thunderstorms.
Additionally, the home is wonderfully kept with two onsite caretakers as well as an offsite owner/property manager that seems to not only ensure the property is rentable but, more importantly, ensure the Seagrape Escape feels like you are renting a vacation HOME.
The Seagrape Escape provides all the amenities one would need from fresh towels, to all the kitchen accessories you need, to all the beach toys you need, and (because it's worth mentioning twice) an, essentially, private beach and dock to enjoy. I say "essentially" because the beach and dock are not actually private however, due to their perfect location on Placencia, there were few, if any, people who would walk by.
If you are in need of the perfect getaway vacation home in Belize, look no further than the Seagrape Escape. However, and as the title of this review states, beware because, once you stay here it is nearly impossible to return to “regular life”.
Our family had an amazing time staying at Seagrape. We spent hours on the private beach and dock. The property was exactly like the pictures, and Martin and Diana were very nice and helpful. Great vacation!!
At the house there is great swimming, hammock lounging, beach-Cruiser biking, paddle boarding, outdoor showering & kayaks (more kayaks can be rented just down the beach)
Across the street: The country's only bowling alley (4 lanes). They serve cool A/C, Great Pizza & good drinks!
Walking down the road or beach: several small resorts that serve food & drink. A few of them will let you use their pool if you spend $$ in the restaurant. (Maya Beach Hotel, Maya Breeze Hotel & Bz. Ocean Club)
PLUS!!: we now have a GREAT market just down the road: a 10 min walk or a 2 min bike ride. (Fresh produce best found in the village, 8 mi away)
a 1 mi. walk or quick Kayak: The newly open Belize Ocean Club has a swim up bar. Need I say more?
In Placencia Village, 8 mi away: more markets, shops, restaurants, Turtle Inn, Art Galleries, smoothie shack, dive shops & our favorite= Tuttie Fruitti Ice Cream shop! Please visit Greg at his fresh produce stand right across the road from here!
Within 1 hr= Monkey River tour, Jaguar Perserve (Waterfalls, Mayan Crafts, river float on inner tubes, jungle hikes)
1.5 hr= Near Punta Gorda there is a zip-line, coco farm, spice farm, waterfalls, etc. A full day of fun!!
2-3 hr drive: Caves tubing, Amazing Mayan Ruins, Zip Line, Blue Hole Nat'l park, Jungles and our favorite place to spend the night to or from the airport is the BZ ZOO! Their nocturnal tour is not to be missed!
