HLH Cottage rentals specializes in vacation properties for families looking to escape the rigors of busy lives and city living. Our serene and quiet abodes are by water, and offer all the comforts of a home away from home. We gear our properties for families, making it easy for travelling from away and looking to experience some peaceful vacation time. Please note we do have one outdoor camera located above the front door overlooking the drive way.
We now have added a one bedroom cabin that is(pet free and child free complete with a Hot Tub!)
The Homestead PEI TOURISM LICENCE #2101309 in historical Lower Bedeque, offers a 3 bedroom 2 bathroom beach house, with fridge, stove, oven, microwave, dishwasher, washer and dryer. The dining room can seat 10 comfortably. The main floor master has a king. The second floor master has a king and some room for an extra cot. The second floor other bedroom has a two twins, and a double bed. The main floor living room also has two futons and a day bed. All together we can accommodate 14 guests (with kids included in that total).

Our property sits at about an acre facing the glorious Northumberland Strait. The views are breaktaking. The fishing is abundant. The sunsets are memories in the making....when do you make yours?

Please ensure that the compost bin has been emptied in large green bin outside side entrance.
Failure to complete these may result in a negative review from the host.
1. Primary guest to complete all registration agreements. 2. All guests contact details to be documented. 3. No guns, weapons, illegal drugs.
4. Minors are to be supervised by parents. 5. No indoor items are to be brought outside. 6. Windows and doors stay closed while AC is on.

Comfortable and quiet in a convenient location for day trips.

The home has every comfort one would need and much more. The beach access wasn't as attractive as pictured and definately not as big, however not a big deal.

PEI vacation 2024

We enjoyed the area and the fact that there was more space than some other cottage rental situations that have multiple units right beside each other. I would recommend the property to anyone as long as they realize that it is in a quiet area and things are not far but not right next door. Previously we have always stayed closer to Cavendish during our visits so it was nice to be able to explore the western side of the island.

Nice house, good location

This house was clean and well set up. Matresses could be updated but were still fairly comfortable. Listing indicates that there is a hot tub and cabin bedroom and includes pictures of those amenities, but we discovered after booking that this was only available at an additional cost. This is misleading. Overall the house fit our needs and had what we needed to make our trip easy and stress free.

Prime Location

This Bedeque property is in a prime location for daily travel to sights around the island. There are plenty of restaurants, grocery stores and ice cream shops in nearby Summerside. Our favorite dinner was at a small shop with a very limited, but delicious, menu, called South Central Kitchen and Provisions. Holman's Ice Cream was our favorite ice cream shop, and we tried several.

Great View

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The space was adequate for our group of 9. The views were awesome and the location was great for short day trips across the island. Better furniture, more comfortable couches /chairs in the family room would make this a full 5 star place. Not very comfortable to hang out inside while it's raining out.

Mark and Maria Taylor have loved PEI from the day they set foot on it. Mark's family are from the island. It's in his history. After he and Maria were married, they took a vacation there with their kids and Maria fell in love with the red sand beaches, the warm sunshine, and the hospitality of the islanders. They decided early on they would be a part of that inviting nature and founded the Homestead, in Bedeque.

Why Bedeque? Many people do not realize the historical significance of the little town, ten minutes from Summerside. William Henry Pope, one of the leading Fathers of Confederation, was born in Bedeque in 1825. A monument rests in his honour right at the start of our Lane in Lower Bedeque. Bedeque has a tremendous amount of historical significance, from the age and names in the local cemetery, to the Callbeck Historical Museum in the centre of town. If felt right to start our Homestead in a town that has such meaning to the province.

The Homestead is your home away form home. We welcome families that are looking for a quiet vacation, may be in between buying and selling their own home, or need some temporary lodging while they are studying or working under contract. We can help.

Our three bedroom, two bathroom, beach house has all the country charm that turn of the century can offer in its character, though still offers the modern amenities. We have TWO fridges, dishwasher, laundry on site, outdoor dining, and the most incredible sunsets that will hypnotize you while you sip on your wine or tea.

What makes this property unique

The location is very convenient. Close to everything that you would need, with delivery options too, the Homestead can provide WiFi for those that need to work while away, and also have access to some fun television programming with our ROKU for the TV.
