Very comfortable, convenient location and as described
Luigi and Claudia's flat was very comfortable and conveniently located by the train stop, bus stop and subway station which made travel to the local attractions and train station very easy. Claudia welcomed us and provided all the information needed to find our way to the ancient city, local Co-op supermarket and best restaurant recommendations. Thank you Claudia and Luigi for making our visit to the first of four cities in Italy wonderful and we will recommend your place to everyone.
Affordable lovely Flat in Rome
The flat is lovely and as many have already described it is close to the metro, grocery stores, and shopping. The metro easily gets you to all the main sites and attractions. The owners are helpful with tips to the best places to eat, shop and ways to save money. The flat was clean and comfortable and so much better than staying in a hotel. If you are on a budget and want to experience a country the way the people that live there do than this is the place for you.
Pleasant flat in suburb of Rome
The location was great with the Metro just 2 short blocks away and the bus 1 block. There were 3-4 grocery stores and outdoor markets very close by as well as one of the best places for gelato. The owners were great, very helpful answering all of our questions and providing a guide sheet for the neighborhood. The photos make the apartment look larger but it was still very comfortable, very clean and met our needs. We took the Metro into Rome every day but usually came back to eat in the Fumio Camilla area because the food was better and more reasonable than the touristy areas in Rome. We were there 3 weeks and came to appreciate leaving the tourists behind and coming home to a typical neighborhood. I would definitely recommend this apartment to anyone.
Excellent - recommend to stay
This is an excellent apartment for a great holiday in Rome. Very close to the Metro and bus services. Also close to local shops and amenities. The apartment is very clean and has all the necessary facilities to have a great stay. The owners are extremely helpful and answer responses very quickly. The apartment is child friendly (we had a < 2 year old child and there is an added bonus of a large walk in wardrobe area (without a door) leading off the bedroom....our little one slept in there so we were able to have time to ourselves !!!!)
Very nice, comfortable apartment.
We had stayed in hotels in Italy in the past but this apartment was much better than a hotel. Very early in our two week stay it really started to feel like home. When we returned from an overnight stay in Florence it actually did feel like being home when we got back to the apartment. The kitchen has everything you might need and the local markets are very close. The bathroom is an adequate size, especially compared to the bathrooms in Italian hotels. The bed was comfortable and the bedroom closet was large. The living room area has satellite tv with some english channels and it was fun watching local programs to try to improve our very basic italian language skills.
The apartment is in a great location. We took the train from Fiumicino Airport to Tuscolana Station and walked the three or four blocks to the apartment. The train was around 16 euro but a taxi would have been at least 50 euro. The Furio Camillo Metro Station is even closer than Tuscolana train station and is on the nicer A line that connects with the B line at Termini Station. We bought two seven day Metro passes and used the Metro almost exclusively for transportation from the apartment to the sightseeing areas of Rome. The Metro pass was good even when we took the Metro B line and transferred to the Ostia Lido train for a trip to Ostia Antica. If you can't get to Pompeii and want to see an ancient Roman city then it's definitely a great idea to make the train trip from the apartment to see Ostia Antica.
The neighborhood is a quiet, residential area with restaurants, pubs, pizzerias and bars. The "bars" are not like American bars but are snack bars where you can get a coffee, a beer, soft drinks and snacks. The map in the "Welcome Kit" left for us with recommended local places listed was very helpful. The "typical and cheap Roman pizza" place was a favorite of ours and going up Appia Nueva to Petrini's gelateria is highly recommended. There are a few gelato shops closer to the apartment but Petrini's is by far the best in the neighborhood if not all of Rome. We also ate at local restaurants Binario 96, Crossings Pub across the street from the apartment and at the Chinese restaurant on Luigi's map. Those restaurants were all fine. Binario 96 was especially nice. A trip to the pastry shop is also a great idea.
Thanks so much to Luigi & Claudia for helping to make our Roman vacation perfect. The only thing we would change is next time to make it four or six weeks instead of two.
Exactly as Advertised, Convenient to Trains and Parco Caffarella
The property was exactly as advertised and worked out very well for us. We especially appreciated Luigi's advice to go to the outdoor market and to Petrini's Gelato. This is not a tourist neighborhood but it is convenient to the airport (take the FM1 from FCO to Tuscolana Station for 8 euros) and even more convenient to the Metro - it is two blocks to Furio Camillo on the A Metro line, 6 stops from Termini Station and on the same line as the Spanish Steps and the Vatican. Parco Caffarella is a great place to run and is just a few blocks from the flat. There are two large supermarkets in the neighborhood, in addition to the many smaller markets. Thanks Luigi!
