Perfect Charente Gite

Our family enjoyed the best of holidays thanks to Susie and Crawford, who were fabulous (but unobtrusive) hosts. The Gite itself was beautiful, wonderfully equipped and spotlessly clean. The entire family could not get enough of the swimming pool. The property was perfectly located, remote enough to allow one to become immersed living in rural France but close enough to all amenities (at Matha). Cognac was only a 15-20 minute drive away. The other, big attractions (Palmyre Zoo, the aquarium at La Rochelle and the beaches) were a little over an hour away (and the drive is perfectly pleasant). We would also recommend Sainte. There is so much to enjoy in the area and the wildlife is in abundance, right on your doorstep. You can see even more by taking a leisurely boat-ride/canoe down the River Charente from Cognac (which is highly recommended). All in all, a perfect holiday, in a perfect Gite in our favourite region of France, all thanks (again!) to Susie and Crawford.

Très agréable séjour dans la campagne charentaise

Beau gîte, bien équipé. Vastes espaces à vivre, piscine très agréable et espace déjeuner extérieur chaleureux. Propriétaires anglais sur place, mais extrêmement discrets et très sympathiques.

Très bon séjour

Très belle maison, rénovée avec gout et sobrement. Très bien accueillis avec une petite bouteille au frais. Quant au ménage, les murs intérieurs en pierre sont magnifiques cependant cela amène beaucoup de poussières, et certains endroits à notre arrivée avaient été oubliés (table basse, plaque vitro, pieds de chaises) Attention toutefois, à préciser un point dans l'annonce. Magnifique piscine. Mais, elle n'est pas directement attenante à la maison louée, contrairement à ce que l'on pourrait croire sur les photos. Le petit chemin qui mène à la piscine, vient de chez les propriétaires, la piscine est donc sur leur terrain, il faut traverser une petite cours pour y accéder, et celle-ci n'est pas totalement disponible, il faut respecter des horaires, ces infos importantes pour nous n'étaient pas clairement exprimées dans le descriptif, et cela nous a légèrement dérangé à notre arrivée.

Thank you for your review. I'm sorry you felt there were some problems with access to the pool, its position and its availability. The pool was open between 09:00 and 21:00 each day, with pool cleaning between 07:00 and 09:00. Gite safety regulations mean a pool has to be totally enclosed by a fence, so it couldn't be next to the gite area with the current layout of the gite and our house. I have replaced one of the pool photos in our advert which might have given the impression that the pool is outside the gite.

Perfect place for relaxing holidays

Très bon séjour chez Susie et Dawe qui ont été très accueillants, bienveillants et discrets. La maison est calme, bien agencée, très propre, agréable à vivre. La piscine est très bien entretenue. Très bonne semaine au repos en famille, nous recommandons vivement. Pauline et Damien
