November 1 to April 15 . THE CABIN BEDROOM IS CLOSE DURING THE WINTER until mid April . There is a full Futon in the living room of the cottage. And a queen bed in the loft.
This charming rustic cottage is a minute walk to a beautiful rocky beach which is 450 ft away . In beautiful Hulls Cove . 3 minutes from the Main Park entrance and visitors center. It is five minutes to downtown Bar Harbor . It is a five minute walk to the free shuttle (The Island Explorer) Far Niente is peaceful and quiet. It has a lovely deck surrounded by pines where you can relax and have a barbeque after your day in the Park. Far Niente (which means 'to do nothing') comes equipped with all amenities. Far Niente is a beautiful cottage in the woods , and yes we do have an occasional insect visitor .
The cabin bedroom is 5 steps away from the main Cottage . Giving total privacy for 2 couples . A rustic all wood Cabin . Like luxury camping .

The cottage is straight out of a fairy tale; we loved everything about it. The location and host were amazing too. It's small but fit my family perfectly- 2 adults and 2 teenagers- with the upstairs loft, downstairs futon, and separate bedroom adjacent to the outside deck. Would definitely stay here again.

Great week at Far Niente. Our host John was super communicative, responsive, and helpful. And he’s only a few minutes away and stopped by to help with small things like figuring out the air hvac remote. Would definitely stay again.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this cozy cabin. It’s quiet, clean and comfortable. So close to Acadia and downtown Bar Harbor and away from the crowds. We loved it!

The cottage was the perfect place for our visit to Mt Desert Island. The neighborhood is very peaceful and quiet and the cottage has everything for a comfortable stay. The owner John is extraordinarily responsive and helpful to make sure our visit was top notch. He checked in often and provided great restaurant and hiking advice. We can’t wait to return.

Lovely cottage. The kitchen was well equipped as was the bathroom. Washer and dryer were awesome. The "sperate bedroom" gave you an outdoor-like sleeping experience in the woods. TV was easy to operate and had many channels. John was a great host and provided us with many ideas for dining, hiking, and activities. We stayed with our dog and there were many things for us to do together. It really is a "pet friendly" cottage and area. The scenery is breathtaking. Would love to return.

John was an amazing host. The Far Niente has everything you could need and more. The building is very cozy and was great place to stay. John also provided a lot of great recommendations for things to do and checked in several times to make sure everything was going well. Would love to stay here again for future visits.

The unit was clean with a well equipped kitchen. The host was extremely helpful if we had a question plus he gave us helpful tips about the area, restaurants, etc. . The fireplace made it nice and cozy. It was very soothing to be in the woods and watch the deer from the windows.

The Enchanted Cottage was just what my family of three needed. John was a fantastic host and had tons of great recommendations, especially for places to eat in the area. The location was perfect. Close enough to Bar Harbor (minutes to downtown) but outside enough to escape the crowds during the day/night. It was a great home base for us. We maximized our time in hiking, biking, kayaking and going out to eat. The cottage offered a place to recharge and get a good night’s sleep after a full day in Bar Harbor/Acadia. John was very easy to work with and wasn’t too obtrusive. Any questions I had, John was quick to answer. I would recommend The Enchanted Cottage for anyone looking for a great stay in Bar Harbor/Acadia.

We arrived at Far Niente in the evening and the cottage looked cute sitting aglow in the trees. The beds are firm and comfortable, the cottage has a cozy energy and it’s a great place to get away from the crowds of Bar Harbor while still being very close. John is an excellent host with clear and consistent communication. I hope to return soon and this will definitely be where I stay if so.

This was the PERFECT place to stay for our week exploring Mt Desert Island. My wife, dog, and I stayed in the cabin while my in-laws were in the cottage and we had plenty of space to relax while also having a bit of separation. It was convenient to get everywhere we needed via car and the house is stocked with everything you could need. John was an amazing host and I would recommend Far Niente to anyone who wants to have a cozy place to call home while visiting beautiful Maine.

Staying here was an absolute treat! The location was amazing and just a quick drive to Acadia and downtown Bar Harbor and John made it the most accommodating and easy trip. Would definitely stay here again if I came to the area!

This cottage is truly enchanting. Everything you could possibly need is provided! John, the host, is extraordinarily responsive and helpful! It is a perfect base for exploring the Acadia / Bar Harbor region. We loved every moment we were there!

Great cottage, very cozy. Kitchen was great, we mostly cooked our own meals during our stay. We loved our time here!

John (the host) was very welcoming and sent helpful information on local restaurants as well as added in some personal recommendations. The property very well kept and was a very nice place to stay; it was very close to many of the hiking locations in Acadia National Park.

The cabin is wonderful - cozy and charming, especially with the beautiful layer of snow! The mattress in the loft is very comfortable. The host was very accommodating, kind and very helpful. Amazing host and location.
