Jarrod Guidry and Meaghan Foley purchased this house in 1999
Great views and close to great waves.
Very quiet town and great neighborhood.
Though everyone said that we were going off season, it was completely perfect in every way. The house is gorgeous, private pool is wonderful, the oceanfront property is awesome!!! I love having the loaded kitchen so we could have breakfast, lunch, dinner on the wrap around balcony overlooking the ocean and sunsets. The only negative thing I could say is I wish I could have stayed longer. Tip: Get massages at home!!!
Our family of four stayed for a week at Casa Luna de Miel as part of our three week vacation to Costa Rica . This was our 2nd stop and it was perfect ! It is located in a very private community and we rarely saw other people. Every morning we enjoyed coffee and breakfast on the amazing wrap around porch listening to the waves and admiring the view. As I write this review I still can't believe we we fortunate enough to be able to stay here. The home is just like the pictures and video show but only better !! We spent a lot of time in the beautiful pool which was always the perfect temperature. The bedrooms and living and dining rooms all had ac and all the rooms had great ceiling fans to keep the house cool. The kitchen is well stocked and we cooked most of our meals, why would you want to go out to eat when you have this amazing view. The living room is very comfortable and has a good selection of DVDs, games( we had a few monopoly nights) and a good satellite package to those wanting to watch tv. Swimming and surf beaches are a short car ride or walk away and the water was very warm. The guards at the gate always greeted us with a smile as we would come and go and Makomba the community dog spent a lot of time with us. The house has a washer/ dryer in the garage stocked with detergent and a new bbq . Playa Negra was the perfect location for us; secluded, quite, and beautiful but close enough to activities and the tourist town of Tamarindo ( we made a few trips to the auto mercado for groceries, very much like a US grocery store) and a short drive to Lola's for lunch and drinks. Our favorite place to grab a bite in the area was at Cafe Playa Negra, very good food and friendly service. When we arrived it was the beginning of the rainy season and we did have some rain each day which was always very brief and a nice cool down. Hummingbirds, butterflies, birds, and other wildlife provided great photo opportunities. Meaghan and Jarrod were fantastic! Always available to answer questions and help if you needed anything. We enjoyed meeting and talking with them and hope to return to one of their properties that they manage in the near future . This was our first trip to CR and we can't wait to return. It was also our first non resort vacation and everything went smooth and better than I imagined it could be. The abundance of nature and beauty of the land as well as the kindness of the people makes Cosa Rica a place I recommend to everyone.
My wife and I spent six weeks in perfect weather in this spacious, lovely home. We had visitors for two of those weeks. The house, pool and grounds were just as we expected them to be. Very comfortable and everything works well. Lots of good restaurants close by.
Jarrod and Meaghan provided top-notch help and advice.
We highly recommend this property.
From booking, to planning details, points of interest, tours and adventures, local fare to fine dining, Jarrod and staff make it all easy and pleasurable. We knew of Jarrod and his properties from personal friends and previous visits. After booking a few months ahead, Jarrod used the interim to ask what we wanted to experience, our budget, time and level of adventure we were comfortable with. He and his staff can help you with driving advice that is easy to understand in a sometimes not so easy to get around road system. With his help we made our way from Arenal Observatory Lodge four hours away and got us right to our doorstep at Casa Luna Miel. We passed right through the 24hr manned guard shack (who were expecting us and waved us through with a smile and Pura Vida) took a right and the rest was easy. We settled in just a few minutes, unpacked a few quick things and hit the pool downstairs, rum in hand. Sundown came soon after, and for the first of what would be five evenings, we went to the rooftop perch. Rum in hand (hey it's vacation), we watched the surfers a few hundred yards off to the left get barreled at a world class Playa Negra, sprouting from the spray and spit of the foam, painted in colors across the Pacific from the setting sun to the right. You don't get that at the "all inclusive" resorts, not even close. 10+ species of tropical and sea birds hung around and over the yard daily, along with iguanas, and a few friendly horses. The home is one home from the end, so privacy and serenity are easy to come by. The interior is outstanding. You cannot help but notice the classic surfboards hung above the doors. The decor is classic tropical and impeccably clean. The master bed..you will not want to get out of it and can't wait to fall into it each evening after a long day of surfing, hiking, shopping, and exploring. Preparing our own meals is always a convenient and budget friendly way to go, and Miel makes it easy. But, 5 minutes away is town and plenty of good food steps away. A drive over to Junquial for Taco Tuesday is a great plan!We will be back and back and back again. I never hesitate to refer my clients, friends, family and anyone who mentions vacation or Costa Rica, to Jarrod Guidry. Topnotch, customized, budget friendly, private....as they say....es PURA VIDA!!
My husband and I stayed at Casa Luna Miel the first time in 2014 after having stayed in a hotel on our first trip to Costa Rica in 2012. We loved it from the moment we stepped inside and came back this year for a longer stay. It is a perfect house for a couple or a family as the guest room has a queen bed and the coolest built in bunk beds! Staying at Luna Miel is like coming home. My husband and I truly enjoy the entire Costa Rica experience one gets from renting a house. In 2014, Jarrod put us in touch with Adobe Rental Car for our vehicle and graciously explained where to go when we arrived...drawing maps for us, etc... so we were able to get groceries, gas, go to restaurants, and different surf breaks. This year, he did the same and after having helped refresh our memories, we can make our way around as easily as if we were locals! ...well, almost LOL... This year, the surf was pumping when we arrived, so my husband headed for the beach first rather than getting groceries. At the last minute, Jarrod had Mariah get us a few groceries to tide us over. To say Jarrod is accommodating is an understatement. The house itself is like a dream. The view of the ocean and the sunsets stay with me all year long. The exhilaration of jumping in the beautiful pool after coming back from the beach is awesome. The grounds are meticulously maintained. This year we did a few new things, which I recommend for anyone coming to Rancho Playa Negra. First, in home massages! Francis and her gentleman counterpart were unbelievable. I have massages regularly and have never been as relaxed as I was after having Francis work on me. The other is horseback riding along the beach to Avellanas. I have only been on a horse a couple times in my life and to ride a horse at sunset, along the beach and over rocks on the Costa Rican shoreline is an experience I will never forget. Jarrod and his team are honest and fair and a pleasure to be around. We have fallen in love with Costa Rica and Playa Negra and it is our dream to build a home in Rancho Playa Negra. While on this trip, Jarrod showed us some properties and spent time explaining the nuances of buying, building and living in Costa Rica. We hope we can be neighbors some day! Anyone thinking about a trip to Costa Rica should really consider any house in Rancho Playa Negra, but if there is such a thing as a perfect house, Casa Luna Miel is it. See you next year!
My husband and I stayed at the Luna Miel for our 25th wedding anniversary recently. We loved it. We had spent the first part of the week touring the central part of Costa Rica with lots of adventure. By the time we got here we just wanted to take in the views and relax and enjoy our last few days. This was the perfect spot for that. The house is spectacular. Cozy, spacious, awesome kitchen for staying in and cooking your own meals. We found a real coconut that fallen from a tree in the yard and had the great experience of cracking it open and literally drinking the milk and eating raw coconut. Had a visitor often with the local iguana who came by each morning to take in the sun. It was quiet, relaxing, with spectacular sun sets and ocean views. If ever there again, will definately stay again. The host managers, Jarrod and his wife, were awesome and helped us out any time we had a question or needed anything at all. They are honest because we over paid before arrival and they caught the mistake and refunded immediately. Thanks for the memories!
