About this property

Historic Farmhouse with Pool, Hot Tub, Outdoor Shower, Stream,Barn, on 100 Acres

Highland Creek Farm is a very private 100 acre country estate with large saltwater pool and hot tub, located on top of the escarpment by Devils Glen Ski Club and 25 minutes from Blue Mountain in the heart of ski country.

The farmhouse interior was refreshed and renewed over the winter by Sarah Richardson Design, one of Canada's best known interior design firms.

A true country property, but with the convenience of being 10 minutes from the small town of Flesherton, 20 minutes from charming Creemore, and 30 minutes from the historic main street of Collingwood. With activities like golf, skiing, biking and mountain biking and spas minutes away, Highland Creek Farm is perfect for those looking to enjoy private country life with all the outdoor experiences nearby.

Summer: The farm has an extra large saltwater pool, hot tub and outdoor shower. Road bikers love the quiet country roads, with a13km ride to Eugenia at the top of miles of great road biking through the Beaver Valley. There are hundreds of acres of mountain biking trails at nearby Kolapore Wilderness Reserve as well as "technical" mountain biking at 3 Stage. It is 30 minutes from the shale beaches along the Craigleith shoreline, and 40 minutes from the giant sand beaches at Wasaga.

Fall: Enjoy miles of hiking and fall colours on the nearby Bruce Trail on the Niagara Escarpment. Check out the local wineries and cideries. Then relax in front of a big fire in the wood burning fireplace, or flip on the gas fireplace in the family room.

Winter: Devils Glen Ski Club is 12 minutes east and Beaver Valley Ski Club is 12 minutes west. Blue Mountain Village is 30 minutes north for skiing, boarding and cross country skiing, plus lots of restaurants for enjoying the apres ski. Scandinave spa is near Blue if you want to pamper yourself with hot baths, massages and other spa treatments. In winter Kolapore's trails convert from mountain biking to miles of cross country skiing. OFSC snowmobile trails nearby.
Spring: Collingwood is a quaint Ontario town about 30 minutes away with a historic Main Street and the full range of services you would expect - Big name grocery stores, as well as several gourmet specialty shops like Dags and Willow, Blue Ridge Meats, a liquor and beer store, Cineplex movie theatre, several good restaurants covering the range from great dining with live music (Huron Club) to new style Mexican (Bent Taco), asian fusion (Lowdown) and many more. The village of Creemore is a short drive.

THE PROPERTY: The farmhouse is beautifully and privately situated on 100 acres consisting of open fields, surrounded by 12 acres of hardwood maple forest, and 20 acres of cedar forest, with a small creek running across the property. The farmhouse is a classic, white clapboard Ontario design, built in 1861 and carefully restored in a traditional style with all the modern conveniences. The interior was refreshed and upgraded by Sarah Richardson Design in 2022, to be a comfortably luxurious version of a classic Canadian farmhouse. It’s set beautifully back from the road, so there’s lots of privacy. Highland Creek Farm is perfect for family getaways, swimming in the large saltwater pool, a weekend of golf with the guys/girls, a base for mountain or road biking, or just as a unique setting for pleasure or business.

The Pool, Hot Tub and Outdoor Shower:
From the large screened porch, enjoy the view of the large saltwater pool with perennial gardens and tall cedars for privacy.

The Barn:
Play some ping pong or shoot some baskets in the giant restored barn, regardless of the weather.

You can hike, snow shoe or cross country ski the trails across the property, or you can just relax on the deck by the pool and watch the clouds go by.

Wellness Retreat

I booked the farmhouse for a women's wellness retreat and everything was great! The pictures were completely accurate and we had so much fun exploring all the nooks of the house, barn and property. It was serene, peaceful and perfect for what we needed. The kitchen was was stocked with all the utensils, high quality cookware, plates and glassware for a large group. Apparently at this time of year cluster flies can be a problem in the barn with the change in temperature but the property manager came and handled it quickly. Truly looking forward to bringing another group back!

Ladies weekend

Our group had a wonderful stay at George’s property! The farmhouse is beautiful, clean and so nicely decorated. George was very accommodating and answered my questions promptly. He also provided a lovely little welcome package for us that we discovered when we arrived. Such a nice touch! We loved the pool and hot tub and the activities in the barn were perfect for at night. We would definitely return!

Excellent property

George’s property is perfect for a family holiday. Although an older farm home, it’s been renovated beautifully while still keeping its vintage charm. We loved sitting out in the screened in porch and swimming in the beauty pool. It’s also expertly stocked. Would highly recommend!

Amazing Weekend

The farm is wonderful, exactly what is pictured in the listing. There was 12 of us and the place was perfect. The barn was great for hanging out and playing games! Enjoyed the hot tub and the loungers for relaxing by the pool. Wifi worked great! And the kitchen had everything you would need. We will be returning!

Wonderful Farm House Cottage

Wow this Historic Farmhouse had so much to offer. It was charming, quaint and just an absolute delight. During raining days, we made use of the Barn house which offered all types of games and fun such as ping pong, basketball, darts and many other games. The pool was beyond beautiful and what a great size. The Farmhouse was so charming and gives a full cottage feel. My only comment is Hot water runs out by the afternoon, and there was only 2 showers. The bathrooms were super tiny. The sunroom needs a bit of updating with the screen door (some wires of the screen were loose) and the lights weren't working in the sunroom. It needed more light at night time. Otherwise, everything else was amazing. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Great escape from the city!

We really enjoyed our stay at this farm. We were supposed to have a big family group, but Covid made it just me and my spouse. It was wonderful. Beautiful property, well maintained, right in the heart of Grey/Bruce highland farm country. We enjoyed the pool, the fire pit, walking around the property, etc. Great access to Kolopore and Three Stage for mountain biking, and tons of neat restaurants and shops within 15-30 mins just about any direction.

Serene and Beautiful

We had a wonderful family vacation at George’s farm. The house was clean, well maintained and beautifully decorated. Lots for the little ones to enjoy - pool, hot tub, barn. We made many side trips to neighbouring towns in the area - Creemore, Thornberry (great bakery) Eugenia Falls. George was a terrific host. Very accommodating. He even unexpectantly showed up at my front door with the pillow my husband had left behind! Hope to return in the future.

A wonderful experience

Enough country to satisfy the 'farm' and enough luxuries to satisfy the 'house', this truly is a wonderful farmhouse experience for a family to enjoy. We had an anniversary bbq up at George's place and it was a perfect getaway. Thanks George for arranging a wonderful stay.

Delightful property and charmed historic farm house

13 of us - a couple celebrating their 50th anniversary, thier three kids, spouses, and 6 grandchildren stayed for 5 amazing days. George was a pleasure to interact with, the property is gorgeous, amenities aplenty, and the house itself perfect for our large group to be both together and in smaller units when needed.

Beautiful and peaceful farm, lots to do

We loved our stay at the farmhouse. The house has lots of character, plenty of room and is very well-equipped... everything we needed for a great stay was there. The barn was a hit - between that, the large property, the pool and the hot tub there was no shortage of things to do. Although the property is so peaceful, it was also perfect for just relaxing and reading.

Paradise!

We had relatives visiting from Germany, three adults and three teenage boys. Finding a property that all ten of us would enjoy, 3 children and 7 adults was not easy but luckily we found this one. We had a sunny week and we took advantage of everything the farm had to offer, pool, hot tub, barn, trails, yoga on the bridge, biking, hiking, etc.. The large dining room table accommodated all ten of us perfectly. And given how big the property was, there was always a place to get some privacy. If you are looking for country comfortable, I would highly recommend this farm. I hope to be back soon.

Charming farmhouse

A charming farm house with lots of character. The surrounding grounds allowed for hours of exploration, and the barn was great fun for the kids. With a 35 minute drive we were able to utilize the ski hills in Collingwood while enjoying privacy and peacefulness back at the farmhouse. George was very helpful and responsive to our requests and inquiries.

We had the most incredible stay! Everything was perfect, especially for families!

We had the best time staying at this farm. It is especially great for families, as there was so much to do! We swam in the pool and hot tub everyday, went for nature walks, played in a playground, and enjoyed The renovated barn which had a basketball court, ping pong, and more games. We enjoyed roasting marshmallows over the outside fire pit and fires inside the farm. I could not recommend this property more!!!! We can’t wait to go back!

A lovely autumn getaway for the fam

This was the second stay at the farm for our family and as with the first, it was a lovely getaway. The barn and woods offered good energy release for the younger family members and some fierce long forgotten table tennis and basketball skills were rediscovered. The house itself offered enough space that some could play board games while others snuggled down with a book in front of the fire. We enjoyed delicious meals around the large dining room table while being entertained by family and friends on the piano, and had late night barn gatherings. George is a treat to deal with and enables seamless planning. We look forward to our return.

Great place for large group get-together

Had a niece & great-niece get-together 10 of us in total. Lots of room for everyone to enjoy their space. House adequate for all. Enjoyed sit down meals at large table in dining room. All appliances brand new & house was spotless. We enjoyed "the barn" and occupied the younger generation most of the day. Little cool for large pool but the hot tub came in handy. Certainly a must to visit if you are looking for a large group venue! Thanks George & Family for opening up your vacation home for rental.

Why they chose this property

We grew up skiing in winters in the area, but discovered it's fantastic in spring, summer and fall too. Hiking, road biking, riding, fishing, golf or whatever activities you are into.
This farm itself has it all - trails in the woods for hiking, fields for views, a freshwater stream, a fully restored historic farmhouse that pre-dates Canada's confederation. And a giant barn for ping pong, badminton, basketball, working out, or just hanging out.

What makes this property unique

With trails on 100 acres through the woods and along the fencerows between the fields, you can hike, mountain bike, cross country ski or snowshoe without ever leaving the property.
In summer we love to eat all our meals on the screened porch overlooking the pool, or relax by the pool with a cold drink. In winter we have lots of guests for dinner in the large farmhouse dining room and relax after in front of the fire with a mug of coffee.
