Excellent Rural Getaway
Family gathering for Christmas. Nine of us stayed from 23rd to 30th December. Fantastic rooms and everything we needed for a self catering stay. If it was not there we could contact Carolyn and she was more than happy to help. Excellent location with a short walk to the village for a pint or supplies. Strongly recommend this if you are looking for a refined farm house feel.

A beautiful house and wonderful hosts.
I booked the entire house for a weekend with the family and it was perfect. The surrounding countryside was very picturesque and the house itself was a delight. The hosts were kind and helpful. I really can't recommend it enough.

About the host

Hosted by Carolyn Chesshire

Host profile image
Both Henry and Carolyn are born and bred natives to this area of north Herefordshire and south Shropshire. Henry having been brought up just three miles upstream of the river Teme which flows through the water meadows beyond the house and Carolyn grew up about ten miles down stream... They're both Pisces and have been metaphorically swimming up and down the river all of their lives. They moved to Lower Buckton in 2001 with the intention of creating their home with individual style and the house contains many family oil paintings and portraits reflecting their local connections. They now live in the old servants' quarters and the main house is offered to visitors from all over the world for holidays, celebrations and get togethers. Their unique insight into the area is ingrained in them and they enjoy sharing their knowledge with guests.

Why they chose this property

Lower Buckton was chosen for its rural position off the beaten track with good access from the main road and well-placed for visiting all the historic places the area has to offer. There are walks in every direction from the door, unrivalled views, quiet nights with black skies and galaxies of stars(no light pollution).

What makes this property unique

Henry and Carolyn loved this property from the first time they saw it. A safe place for their dog and cats, a workshop for Henry, a flower garden for Carolyn, a kitchen garden for Henry, a field and stables for Carolyn's horses, barns and sheds for their junk(!) but best of all an extremely good house layout for private and guest use with lovely gardens, the millstream mentioned in the Domesday Book and marvellous views to the south across the river to the forests beyond. Oh and luscious Ludlow just ten miles to the east and all the other pretty market towns within a twelve mile catchment area. Do come and visit soon.
