Magnificient

We loved this beautiful apt. and loved the location. The apt. is large and bright and we had everything we needed. We loved walking across the river and thru the beautiful park to get to the castle. Richard was so friendly and helpful and we want to go back again for sure. The terrace is also wonderful--wish we could have stayed longer to enjoy it more. If you are going to Carcassonne please stay here at this apt. You will love it!!! Thank you, Richard

Nestled between the two Cities in a quiet residential area within short distances to both

This property is a perfect location for a visit to Carcassonne. A very short walk to the new and old city there are wonderful independently owned shops providing very high quality breads, cheeses, wines and indeed meat with locally produced foodstuffs readily available. The patio ( which is sun trap ) provides space to relax whilst listening not to a buzzling city but to bird life. This area is very private and suitable for eating and indeed imbibing the wonderful local wines. The spacious indoor open plan layout is conducive to a very relaxing stay. Your host is a charming man who will make you feel most welcome. Thoroughly recommended.

Wonderful Stay in Carcasonne

We are a family of 4, traveling with 2 boys age 11 and 14. We had a wonderful stay in this apartment. The pictures are accurate and the apartment is very neat and clean. The area surrounding the outside of the apartment is even better than the pictures. It's a truly beautiful area, located right on the river with a foot path crossing the water that leads you up to the medieval city of Carcassonne. At night when you sit on the large patio you can see the stars and hear the water from the river. It's a very tranquil and beautiful setting. The very best part of this apartment is the owner, Richard. He's super friendly, welcoming and kind. We arrived a few hours before we were scheduled to check in and Richard worked hard to accommodate us and check us in early. As a special surprise he had a chilled bottle of champagne waiting for us in the fridge to celebrate his first visitors from The United State. We so enjoyed sitting on his patio at night, eating our fresh gotten goods from the market at the town center and drinking the champagne under the stars. If you are going to Carcassonne I highly recommend you try to get a reservation for Richard's apartment. The location is awesome as it's 5 minutes walk to the "new city" which is charming and 5 minutes walk up to the castle ramparts and medieval city. Richard took very good care of us when we visited his city. If we are ever in Carcassonne again we will be staying at Richard's place. Merci Bo coup Richard!

tres belle surprise

Appartement très charmant et cosy : Nous avons dû faire une réservation de dernière minute, Richard le propriétaire nous a aussitôt souhaité la bienvenu part téléphone. Nos amis de Belgique sont arrivés en début de soirée et ont été accueillis chaleureusement avec une bonne bouteille .Le confort est moderne et la terrasse avec barbecue et une merveille même au mois de novembre . Le quartier très calme et naturel, propose un accès piétonnier à la citadelle médiévale , et au centre ville de Carcassonne avec ses commerces et ses marchés . Un endroit à retenir et a conseiller...

nous avons beaucoup aime l'endroit. l'appart est meme mieux que les photos. bien situe entre la Cite medieval et la basse ville.tres belle vue de la Cite. Richard etait hospitalise lors de notre sejour remplacer par Maryse qui fut tres gentille et efficace. beaucoup de luminosite et d'espace dans l'appart. nous recommandons fortement.

Life as it should be!

Traveling family of 4, with two teenagers, driving in with late arrival. From the first time we contacted Richard until we left, he provided everything we needed in his pleasant, kind, thoughtful manner. He has such a welcoming demeanor, and possesses excellent as well as easy to understand English and French (even took time to work on some phrases with me when I wanted to improve). His communication is first rate throughout, and he responds immediately to any concerns. His location is exactly as seen in the photos, if not better. Driving here was simple, but then we parked the car and walked everywhere. The walk to the walled city is easy and beautiful, the market is in walking distance as well. Richard showed us each and every thing we wanted to know about how to make our stay the best it could be. And Carcassonne itself, well, it is spectacular! We cannot recommend this visit or this VRBO any higher! We would all love to be back at this location as soon as we can! Thanks Richard!

Clean, bright and centrally located

We very much enjoyed our brief stay at Richard's apartment. He was quite accommodating of our plans and very helpful with recommendations for dining and sightseeing. the apartment is comfortable, well-appointed and very clean. It is also very well situated. We would definitely recommend and stay again should we be there in the future.

The ideal place to stay.

We had a fantastic time in Carcassonne and Heritage and Nature proved to be a perfect home for us during our stay. It is located conveniently for La Cite and the more "modern downtown" Carcassonne, overlooking the river and away from the tourist areas. The sun terrace was ideal for morning coffee and croisants. I cannot praise Richard highly enough for his friendly welcome, his genuine attitude, and his ability to solve the most difficult problem that we presented to him. Thank you Richard. We will see you soon!

Bien-être et harmonie

Située entre la cité et la ville, cette maison à la déco soignée est un havre de paix. La terrasse permet de lire, dîner et savourer la douceur des soirées dans un environnement protégé. Nous avons apprécier l'accueil du propriétaire. Malgré un court séjour à Carcassonne, nous avons pu profiter de ce logement propre, bien situé et avec une terrasse de "rêve"

DÉTENTE ET REPOS ASSURES

Quel plaisir de retrouver la maison PATRIMOINE ET JARDINS*** !! :-) Nous étions passés l'année dernière et nous avons décidés de revenir... pour un long weekend de repos dans ce coin de verdure au cœur de Carcassonne. C'est la belle surprise de cette jolie maison lumineuse et confortable. Nous sommes revenus pour nous détendre et nous reposer et c'est en famille que nous l'avons fait. Je conseille vivement ce lieu que Richard le propriétaire prépare avec soins... Tout est propre, et nous nous sentons immédiatement en vacances. Tout se fait à pied, le shopping, les visites et les ballades. C'est vraiment un lieu à découvrir et à recommander...

This property is definitely worth a couple of nights for the charm and for the proprietor, Richard. It is a medieval building with steep stairs and 3 floors so be mindful if stairs are a problem for you. Richard has done multiple renovations to the property to make it comfortable and the bathroom and kitchen have every convenience.

A wonderful week end

We stayed in Richard's property for a week-end to celebrate a 60th birthday. We had wanted to visit Carcassonne for a long time - the area, and the accommodation, were perfect, and we enjoyed interesting conversations with Richard, who also recommended an excellent restaurant ten minutes' walk away. The apartment is very quiet: all we could hear from the terrace in the evening was the river and water birds; but at the same time it is a short walk up to the mediaeval citadel in one direction, and to the lower town in the other direction. The market in the lower town on Saturday morning was a feast for the eyes - we bought fresh veg and fruit, and goat's cheese; the indoor market offered a huge range of local meat and fish - we wished we were there for a month to sample it all. Thank you Richard for your kindness and hospitality. We hope to come back.

What a find!

This is a wonderful, comfortable property. Richard has furnished it well, and everything you need is there. The property is bright and open, very comfortable. What you may not realize from the photos is that the wonderful terrace is accessed by double doors from both the kitchen and the bedroom. We found ourselves leaving the doors open to this wonderful outdoor space because it is very private and really an extension of the living space. The walk along the river is another great feature, and the view of the medieval cite is particularly stunning at night. We will definitely return to this property when in the area.

A wonderful stay in a great place

My wife and I enjoyed our stay in Richard's Gite in Carcassonne. The weather was not as good with several wet and windy cool days but we were comfortable and warm the whole week of our stay. The location is perfect with the lovely river Aud and green natural area just outside our door. One can enjoy the short walk along the river and up the hill to visit the UNESCO medieval fortress, Carcassonne, that dominates the city. Local food stores, bakeries, and other stores are also a convenient walk. including a food market on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday in a place that is also walking distance. We like to prepare most of our own meals when traveling and had no problem shopping and then preparing for meals in the kitchen with the provisionals we needed to make simple breakfasts and dinners. Richard is the most gracious of hosts. He readily called us in California to answer any questions we might have before we booked our stay. Richard is a wealth of knowledge about the city and the area which allowed us to make day trips to historical sites with our leased car. We enjoyed our conversations with Richard who is always available to help. He is adept not only in French but also in English, German, and Spanish. He quickly provided a solution to the small crack in the coffee carafe which allowed us to brew our coffee each morning,. We loved our stay and would love to return again some day plus for those who drive Richard has found a way to insure that you have a parking space in front of your door reserved for you which is such a luxury when staying in a crowded old part of the city with narrow streets and too many cars. We were so lucky that we selected Richard's Gite, which proved perfect for us during our stay in Carcassonne. Walt and Kris Wogee Skyforest, Ca May 9-16, 2016

excellent location

the apt was even better than the pictures. Richard was in the hospital during our stay and was replaced by Maryse who was very efficient. the interior was very bright and spacious. the views of the city are as pictured and you are 10 to 15 minute walk from everything. would definitely go back.

A WELCOME BREAK

A most enjoyable week spent in this apartment that is true to its description and is spacious, light and airy and located in a quiet peaceful area of Carcassone bordering the River Aude with views of the Medieval City and easy footpaths along the river. We were blessed with wonderful weather and enjoyed time spent on the sunny patio with a glass of wine or two. Our thanks go to Richard who was on hand at all times to answer our questions, making suggestions of places to visit and recommendations of restaurants (we especially enjoyed a wonderful meal at La Grande Bouffe). Richard also dealt immediately and resolved a problem we had with the DVD player and was most helpful when we had trouble as the taxi that we had booked for our return to the airport didn’t arrive on time. Carcassone is a lovely town and I’m sure we will return in the future to see more of the town and the surrounding countryside. Our very best wishes and thanks to Richard for his hospitality.

Perfect, relaxing, young family getaway

We loved our stay at this apartment. The location is perfect, set in nice quiet streets on the banks of a picturesque river and just a 5 minute walk in either direction to the medieval la citie and the newer part of town. The apartment is spacious and well equipped. There is also a large terrace with a BBQ which catches the sun all day. Richard was the most generous host, taking the time to provide us with a series of tips and recommendations, each of which lived up to his promises. He also did whatever he could to makes things as easy as possible with a young baby. We would thoroughly recommend staying at Richard's place for any visit to the enchanting Carcassonne. We are looking forward to our next visit.

BEAUTIFUL AND QUIET LOCATION TO RECOMMEND

Very good experience for our little group of 4 Adults .Well heated House, very bright ! Holidays House Very well organised (Space, Closets, Terrace ...) Very Nice and Green environment... almost in the city center. Our Stay was great thanks to the owner Richard both welcoming but also a wealth of informations on all we needed to do (visiting, Shopping, Restaurants ...). For sure, We will come back with pleasure, on a future stay in the south west.of France.
