Hollyhock Cottage at Whiterock Conservancy

Whiterock Conservancy is a 5,500-acre, nonprofit land trust dedicated to providing educational and recreational opportunities for the public, improving and protecting the land through conservation, and demonstrating sustainable farming methods.

Explore over 40 miles of hiking, running, mountain biking, and equestrian trails that meander through prairie, oak savanna, wetland and river valley; set up camp in our RV or tent camping areas; or enjoy the comforts of home in one of our vacation rentals. Enjoy the countryside and wildlife, and some of the darkest skies in Iowa for stargazing. Visit the Historic Garst Farmstead to learn about agricultural history or check out one of our multiple fishing ponds. We have fishing equipment, mountain bikes and kayaks/canoes (river level and weather permitting) for rent.

Hollyhock Cottage is part of the Roswell and Elizabeth Garst Historic Farm District.

Relax in this quaint, cozy farm cottage. Hollyhock Cottage is set in the beautiful Historic Garst Farmhouse yard. The decor reflects the cottage's history, first as the family chicken coop, then Elizabeth's garden shed. Fully renovated, this cottage offers the perfect location for some R&R in a historic but modern setting.

BEDROOMS: The bedroom has one queen bed.

BATHROOMS: Full bathroom with sink, toilet & shower. Clean towels provided.

KITCHEN AMENITIES: Fully equipped kitchen with stove, apartment-sized refrigerator, microwave, coffee pot, dishes and utensils and a small dining table that seats 4.

LIVING/DINING AREAS: Living area with hide-a-bed sofa and futon with three chairs.

OUTDOORS: Includes a picnic table, lawn chairs, charcoal grill and fire ring. Check out the nearby fishing ponds, connecting trails for biking & hiking. The nearby farm buildings sometimes house sheep, goats, and cows. Check out the historical interpretive signs to learn more about the unique history of the farmstead and surrounding area.

PARKING: Park along the fence in front of Hollyhock Cottage. Space for two vehicles for Hollyhock. Please do not drive or park in the grass.

Nice cottage and lots of options for outdoor activities.

The cottage was nice. We did have a couple issues but Denise quickly resolved them for us. We enjoyed biking and hiking in the area.
