Welcome to Shady Lake Hideaway - a one-of-a-kind hexagonal cottage perched above Jamestown Marina on beautiful Lake Cumberland, Kentucky. Affectionately nicknamed the "Nut House" by longtime neighbors for its unique shape, this cottage is anything but ordinary. And that's exactly the point!

Loved the house. Scary inside staircase but very easy to walk around outside to basement bedroom, pool table, cool party area, and firepit. The grill was amazing. Hummingbirds, deer, and butterflies everywhere!!!!!! Definitely not a walk to the lake kind of house, if you do not have a boat there are no real lake activities available. Awesome family get together house awesome kitchen, fun firepit area, definitely would come back!!!!!Thanks a million

I love that the grill, the fire pit, the pool table & the party area all hit the mark for your family get together! And hummingbirds, deer, and butterflies - Shady🌳Lake Hideaway never disappoints when it comes to wildlife! As for lake access, Lily Creek Boat Ramp is just 2 miles away & families were swimming in the water just off the island this week when I was out on the lake. Jamestown Marina is 1 mile away for boat rentals & launches. Wolf Creek Dam has water access & activities as well. So glad you loved it and I would love to welcome your family back anytime!

Thank you for your feedback. I appreciate you taking the time to share your experience at Shady🌳Lake Hideaway. Regarding the refrigerator - the glass shelf above the drawers does have a permanent etching/staining in a spot from prior use that unfortunately cannot be removed. The refrigerator itself is thoroughly cleaned before every guest arrival. As for the spiral staircase to the lower level - the cottage features a unique spiral staircase that is noted in the listing & photos. It is part of the one-of-a-kind character of the hexagon cottage. The lower level can also be accessed by the 2 exterior doors located near the fire pit. The staircase meets all standard requirements for adult use. Please note that hanging command hooks and adhesive products are not permitted at the cottage as they can cause surface damage to the property. I strive for a 10/10 experience with every guest and hope you enjoyed your time on Lake Cumberland!

This property is great!! It was clean and easy to get in and out. There are cute decorations and helpful notes left by the host. Additional boat parking was helpful. Wi-fi works well. Located mins from Lilly Creek boat launch and Jamestown Marina. Highly suggest getting a burger at Reel Java and their Nobake Cookie bar was amazing. If it’s raining there is a Peddlers Mall in Somerset and one in Campbellsville that are only about 40 mins away. If you get to Somerset try King Buffett if you like Chinese The host is amazing and kept in contact. I would definitely stay here again.

Host had great communication throughout every step of the experience, which made the entire process incredibly simple and stress free. The cottage and amenities are fantastic. The house rules and expectations from guests are very reasonable and dont put a damper on the trip. Beautiful location in very close proximity to the lake and marina. After a short drive to the Marina, we took a free water taxi ride to the Wheelhouse, a restaurant and bar across the channel where there was great music and a live band. Completely unplanned since we were just checking out the Marina. Rented a Tritoon the following day, had a blast fishing and exploring the Lake. All in all, we had an incredible time and I can't wait to return again with my family. 5 Stars all around!

Stayed for Christmas with my family. Love that the property had a Christmas tree for us to enjoy during our stay. Perfect accommodations for my 23 month old, and a space for mom and dad to go after he went down for bedtime to hangout awhile before bed. Very pet friendly. Fully equipped kitchen and we always love Reel Java being nearby. Perfect holiday vacation home

Great property, clean and as advertised! Would definitely stay here again. Had an issue with the grill one night, fluke thing, owner took care of next day! Great place to stay!

Looking for a place to get away from it all, I purchased 🌳Shady Lake Hideaway in June of 2020. Whether my family and I are spending the day tubing, knee boarding, water skiing, fishing, or simply raft floating in the beautiful jade waters of Lake Cumberland, we always enjoy coming back to the cottage to relax, hang by the fire, grill some eats, roast some marshmallows and play a few games before sleeping that deep sleep you get after having a hard day of play.
Being the daughter of an elite Army Ranger, I have had an upbringing that has allowed me to live in different states and countries. No matter where my family and I travel, the simple beauty found amongst nature has always been our most memorable adventures. I believe life is about moments...even the mishaps add to the adventure!

この宿泊施設のオーナーになった理由

I started water skiing when I was in junior high school and many summers were spent on the waters of Lake Cumberland boating and tubing. I grew up and came back with my own family. I toured Jamestown and this cottage with my husband and children. All of my kids liked this property. When we lived in Germany we also lived in a hexagon shaped house. One-of-a-kind seems to catch our attention. Sometimes life is that simple. There was a bidding war and my youngest son told me what he thought the offer should be so we looked like we meant business. My oldest son clinched the deal by choosing our final counter-offer. All 3 kiddos helped choose the name to describe the property. It has been a family affair from the beginning. Some places just have that good vibe! It's just that simple.

🌳Shady- The shade from Kentucky's surrounding forest is a huge benefit to the property. Past noon, most of the property is covered in shade and this is the reason why it was incorporated into the name of the property.
🌳Lake- Don't be mistaken, I was drawn to Harbor Springs Drive because it is a stone's throw from the Jamestown Marina. The convenience is top-notch. Life is better at the lake.
🌳Hideaway- The way the cottage and the outdoor spaces fit into the land around it, gives the cottage a comfortable and protected feel. Some of the veteran residents of Harbor Springs Drive have said that the cottage has been called "the nut house", as in hexagonal nuts and bolts, and simply the hexagon house. Either way, it's the only house of this shape on the street. It is our hideaway to get away from it all and enjoy our time together.
