Guestbook comments from the owner

Rather than stay in a hotel or resort, our choice to stay at your villa was exactly what we needed. The Unit was clean, spacious, modern and very nicely decorated. We visited Mr. K's grocery on the corner of Sucker Garden road for the majority of our needs..unfortunately, we made no provision for a pen and feel awful that we couldn't add a page into your "guest book" in the Villa. I must admit, our children read the book from front to back, and from that, made suggestions for our "next days' excursion"...and the beach chairs in the closet made every beach visit the perfect one.

Our decision to rent a small SUV allowed us to travel the entire island, to visit beaches and see so much of what St. Maarten had to offer. Simply spectacular...Dawn Beach, Marigot & Simpson Bay, the Lolos and the "crazy tourists" on the beach by the airport.

In closing, this was certainly one of the more memorable vacations we have taken as a family. I speak for all of us when I say we will certainly return.

Loved this place!

  • 5 of 5

This was our first time in St. Maarten and we had a great time staying at Whispering Palms! The villa had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable: convenient parking, a fully equipped kitchen, two full bathrooms, two bedrooms, a cozy living room with a TV, a barbecue on a large balcony, WiFi, and AC. The location was very convenient – about 20 minutes away from the airport and minutes away from Guana Bay beach. It quickly felt like our ‘home away from home’. We enjoyed going to the nearby grocery stores and bringing things back to make our meals at the villa. The ocean view, which you can see from the parking lot, the balcony, and almost every window, is spectacular and the communal pool was beautiful and private. We liked that the villa wasn’t in a touristy location, yet we could get to any of the other beaches and tourist spots within 15-20 minutes.

Eugene, the owner, was very helpful before and during the trip. He provided a detailed PDF booklet with directions to the villa and plenty of suggestions for where to eat, shop, and have fun. Everything we did was fun and memorable. The highlight of our trip was a six-hour tour around the island through Robinson Boat Tours.

My friends and I would definitely go back to St. Maarten and to Whispering Palms. This was an excellent place to stay – safe, picturesque, and fun! Highly recommended!

Whispering Palms is the place to stay when in Guana Bay, Dutch St. Martin

  • 5 of 5

This is our fifth time vacationing in St. Martin and it was a blast for all of us. Big part of that was provided by a wonderfully appointed 2 bdr/2 bath villa and all it's amenities. There are about 20 different villas in this complex located only steps from the Guana Bay beach (Dutch side of the island) and we have stayed in a few of them over the years. The one we were in just last week (10 days total) and which is owned by Mr. Eugene Grichko definitely takes the cake as being the best in our opinion. Our party consisted of my wife and I as well as our three kids ages 20, 14 and 2.5. Eugene was wonderful in providing us with a makeshift crib during our stay which saved us money on luggage cost of transporting one from USA. He also provided us with a cell phone which we could use in case of emergencies while on the island (one needs to purchase a calling card to activate it). The place is beautifully appointed- simple but elegant with good quality furniture, excellent bed firmness and high functionality of kitchen, baths and their appliances. We have not used the BBQ on the terrace but it is available which is a big plus. The wi-fi service in the house was pretty good considering all the kids logging in at the same time for various reasons. The TV cable service was adequate as well as the use of the DVD player which helped our little guy refresh his Peppa Pig stories.. The outdoor furniture was nice and sturdy and I particularly marveled at spending a lot of time on the terrace reading and enjoying the ocean view and the sound of near buy waves crashing on the riff. The rental price for 10 days was adequate (read: better) then other competing villas in the complex, whose owners usually try to exert additional moneys for various taxes, additional people (2 are included in the original price rental- others are charged extra) and etc.- which is not a way to go in my opinion, especially for returned customers. All and all, we had a very pleasant experience and would like to recommend Eugene and his Whispering Palms villa without reservation. We are already looking forward to next year...

Great Place to Stay

  • 5 of 5

This is a really great place to stay in St. Maarten. The kitchen had everything we needed to eat breakfast and any other meal we chose to eat "at home." The views of St. Barths are really beautiful, and the pool in the complex is a lovely place to end your afternoon after a day of relaxing on the beach or enjoying the sights and activities of St. Maarten. The beds were all comfortable and the bathrooms really nice and spacious, with excellent showers. The couches and chairs in the living room were also comfortable and the WiFi and TV were excellent amenities.

Prior to the trip, Eugene was so helpful and answered questions as I thought of them, such as restaurant ideas, suggestions of things to do and even helping me plan a route for a morning run each day (in a word, hills -- great area to run!)

Parking was right nearby, the grounds were constantly maintained and yet not in a disruptive way. In short, this is a great place to stay -- you really couldn't ask for a better location on the island, view from the condo, or overall accommodation. We even did our laundry mid-way through the trip, which was so nice because it allowed us to pack more lightly for our vacation.

If you're looking for great places to go, ask Eugene and he will give you some great ideas. The highlight for us was probably a sail/snorkel/lunch trip to Anguilla, but everything we did was wonderful, fun and memorable.

Oceanside villa

  • 5 of 5

To start with I would like to thank the owner for keeping his place in such a great condition! Everything looks nice and clean, kitchen is equipped with all necessary things including a kettle and a measuring cup. Very comfortable and conveniently located villa. You can reach the French side with its restaurants in 20 minutes and if you do not feel like going anywhere there is a beautiful beach right in front of your house. Several supermarkets are located within 10 minute drive from the villa. The owner and the manager are very friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend this place to my friends and will try to come back myself!

A Great Place to Stay on a Beautiful Spot on the Island

  • 5 of 5

This charming villa was the perfect place to stay on our first vacation in St. Martin.

The villa itself was clean and spacious. Well-decorated, with very comfortable beds and clean, bright bathrooms. This place had every amenity we needed - balcony with a bbq, access to a pool with a beautiful view, even cooler bags for when we went on a long hike up in the hills!

St. Martin has such a wealth of activities to offer that even 10 days wasn't a long enough time to see and do everything. And if you're a "foodie" like my husband and I - St. Martin has some of the best restaurants and local food stands we've ever tried.

For recommendations on where to go and what to try - you'll just have to read my guestbook entry that's in the villa!

Unforgettable Vacation

  • 4 of 5

It was our first trip to St. Martin and the Caribbean in general and didn't know what to expect and we were pleasantly surprised. The villa is welcoming to its guests: clean, simply and pleasantly furnished, spacious for a family of four and perhaps 6 if you include the sofa bed in the living area. The view from the balcony is spectacular with coconut trees all around and a pleasant view of the island of St. Barts in the horizon. The villa is equipped with all you need to cook or for a pleasant barbeque in the balcony. And if you are short of anything Mr. K (a local supermarket) is a 2 minute-drive. The freshly baked French bread every morning for breakfast from Mr. K is something you must try.

We didn't swim at the Guana bay beach as we were discovering a different beach every day. All beaches are within a 20 ~ 30 minutes-drive (you will definitely need a car rental) from the villa. Our favorites were Grand Case and Orient Bay. Also a day trip to Anguilla from Marigot is a must.

So, all in all, I believe you will not be disappointed with your stay at the Guana Bay villa and St. Martin.
