Good times

Apartment was quite spacious, clean and well equipped. The local contact helped us out with a couple of things we needed, and the use of the bikes, kayaks & SUP was most appreciated.

Location!

If your not fussed about the place being dated with an old smell on the dishes and in the kitchen cupboards, cobwebs and bugs (we trapped at least 4 crickets and put them outside over the course if the night- no biggie for us but maybe for people that hate insects), but care more about being a stones throw from the estuary that you can cross to get to the beautiful main Matapouri Beach and a a couple minutes drive to Whale Bay then this is the spot! You’ve got the local store/fish & chip place and wood fire pizza place, a short bikes ride away. Speaking of bikes, the kids bikes were rusted and tires wrecked so kids were disappointed at that. The place had a kayak, paddle board and other stuff which would have been awesome to try out if we had more time. Check in was super easy and Kelly was a breeze to work with and quick to respond to messages. We were the only ones in the downstairs unit of the four that the house is split up in to so it was nice and quiet. Shower is ultra tiny but does the job and was clean so maybe more of a concern for claustrophobic or really tall people. Carpet had been ripped out as they were hit badly during the flood so mats were covering the main floor space but my 1 year olds clothing was still getting snagged on the exposed nail heads/tops when she was crawling around. Hopefully this will be fixed before more families with kids go to stay. Kids said their beds (bunk and single) were ultra comfy, you just need to supply your own sheets, towels, tea towels/paper towels, sugar, salt n pepper. For the price paid I thought these things at least, should have been supplied. FYI you’re paying for the location here more than anything guys :)

Beautiful setting

We had never been to Matapouri before and was so pleased we stayed over after working in Whangarei for the RWC21. The spot overlooking the estuary and the facilities available in the 3 beddie was just spot on. Very clean, quiet, and lovely kiwiana artwork - great traditional kiwi bach living! Exploring Whale Bay and Matapouri beachs sublime. Great facilities avalable to use - paddleboards, canoes. Will be back with the whole family when we can enjoy a few more days with no work involved!

Amazing location!! Awesome to have kayaks and paddle board. Unit was basic. Okay for a short stay.

Perfect location and exactly what we were looking for for a family holiday. Having the use of the kayaks and paddle board really made it special for us. Even though the bikes, paddle board and kayaks are shared between all four units, we had plenty of use. So much fun on the Estuary. Plus it's a very short walk to the shop and the main beach. It was our first time to Matapouri and it is very beautiful. The unit itself is pretty basic, but was fine for a two day stay.

Easter Beach Fun

We enjoyed the use of kayaks, bikes and paddle board. Great walking access to eastury, beach and shop. Had a fun holiday with the whanau.

Old But Functional

The Bach is outdated and not flash. It’s on the main road, so on the roadside end of the estuary. Thought it was over-priced for what it was although might suit a young family. Comfortable stay overall.

Awesome Time

Our unit had all the facilities to enjoy a wonderful break away at Matapouri - which has got to be one of the most beautiful locations in the world. The property agent was most helpful. We would not hesitate to rebook in the future.

FAMILY FRIENDLY

Absolutely enjoyed our 2 nights stay here. Location is perfect for families esp having my 3year old with us easy to get her back and forth to the house to go toilet. Paddleboards and kayaks was a bonus for our teens aged 13 and 15years and then we too had fun riding the bikes to the shops nearby. Had the best time here and the beach is GORGEOUS.. highlight was when it was raining we went to the beach and saw the stingrays and crabs and fishes.Such a family friendly spot. House has all the amenities needed. THANKS FOR SUCH A GREAT WEEKEND. Kelly Boaz was also great to communicate with fast and efficient.

Across the road from the beach

The location was great, being across the road from the beach, however the listing photos were deceiving as it made it look like you had a great view from the bach and you were the only people staying there. The unit we stayed was on the lower level, it was very dated and positioned lower than the road, so it felt quite closed in. There were no cleaning products provided , so we couldn't clean the toilet and had to use only a sponge and dishwashing liquid to clean the basin. Also, the master bedroom bed was extremely uncomfortable and roll together, so my husband and I had to sleep in separate beds. Also there was no basic amenities like salt and pepper provided.

Perfect for Families

With 2 early teens and a 10 year old who love beaches, this was the perfect accommodation. The highlight was the tandem bikes (which were a complete surprise) plus the canoes and paddle board were wonderful. The accommodation was very 'beachy' and had everything necessary for a comfortable stay. Thank-you and thoroughly recommend.

Great accommodation at a great beach

Only a short stay but the unit had an authentic kiwi bach feel, was well appointed, very clean and tidy and in a great location handy to everything. Super friendly manager too. Would definitely stay again.
