About Carol Sweeney

Please contact me at and I will do my best to help you out. If we do not still have the dates available then I have other friends who might be able to help you out with a similar condo also located in the heart of the fortified Old City.

Carol Sweeney purchased this condo in 2002

Why Carol Sweeney chose Old Quebec

The Old City allows you to step back to the year 1608 when Samuel Champlain came and founded what has become a UNESCO World Heritage site. When we first came to Quebec on our honeymoon we decided that this would be the place where we would set down roots and begin our family. Six children later the roots are too deep to pull up so it looks like the Old City is stuck with us!

What makes this condo unique

The benefit of a stay at the Little Door is the '5-Factor' Leaving the front door and walking for about 5 minutes puts you in touch with some of the best restaurants in North America. You desire crepes for breakfast? Why not stop at Casse Crepe Breton and watch as they make them before you eyes stuffing them with fresh fruit... chocolate... and whip cream for those have been good boys during their travels! You want to discover antique shopping... no problem... 5 minutes on foot. You desire a lovely stroll along the St. Lawrence River... no problem... 5 minutes on foot. You would like to take in a pub and have a glass of wine or a pint of your choice... you got it ... 5 minutes! So, the '5-factor' is alive an well at the Little Door condo.

Great stay

The location was great, it was quiet and close to everything. Would recommend the apartment. Having a parking space was a real plus. Carol was easy to work with. Thanks.

Had a fantastic stay

The owners are very trustworthy and the pictures depict the unit quite nicely. The location is amazing! A very short walk to all the old city has to offer, yet on a street that quiets down at night. Didn't notice when I booked it that it was a waterfront view property, but it was beautiful. The unit is a basement unit with a nice sized bedroom and the bathroom located off of this bedroom. There is a curtain to offer privacy from the living room/kitchen area. The pull out sofa is very warn, hence the 4 star rating. There is a pull out bed that my daughter found and used for the second and third night, and it was just fine. Unit was clean and well presented upon arrival. The owner took the time to ride with my husband up to the parking spot- and I highly recommend you take the owner up on the parking spot for the additional cost. Parking there is absolutely nuts and positively requires excellent parallel parking skills assuming you can even locate something. Everything here is in french- signs, language spoken, menus, etc. We do not speak French, but everyone speaks English also and were very kind and helpful the whole trip. Try the restaurants at the bottom of the hill- Le Buffet for breakfast and Cafe Saint Malo for lunch or dinner. Eating out here can be a bit pricey so the kitchen was put to good use and it helped reduce costs. It is stocked with all of the basics including spices and such. we enjoyed the fireworks (Wed and Sat nights) and the street performers sprinkled throughout the area. We would absolutely return and highly recommend this property.

Location, location, location!

  • 5 of 5

This lovely little gem of a place is indeed close to everything you need, while being quiet and off the beaten track for a good night's sleep. Immaculately clean, with a well-equipped kitchen, it lacks nothing! The owners were very accommodating. As female friends travelling together, we liked having two separate sleeping areas.

Thanks, Carol and Ed!

Great !!!

  • 5 of 5

This is perhaps the best place to stay in Old Quebec, especially if you don't want to pay an arm and a leg for accommodations. It's perfectly located, down the hill to the market, up the hill to the shops , restaurants, Hotel Frontenac, street entertainment. Basically a great home base while you are there. The condo itself is very nice, intimate and well appointed. Everything you need is there if you want to just cook your own meals. It's 5 foot entrance door was a source of many smiles by passers by as we ducked in and out of our little hideaway. All in all we highly recommend this place if you are travelling to Quebec City.

Perfect, perfect, perfect!!!

  • 5 of 5

We were looking for the "perfect place to stay" in Quebec City and we found it!! As others have commented, we also got stares as we were going in and coming out of the "little door!" We felt we were residents of this beautiful city.

Great communication with the owners, the property was just the right size for us (only 2 of us) and the location was just right. Made us walk a little but not long distances as the condo is in the midst of all attractions.

We would definitely stay there again on another visit and we have already recommended this condo to our friends and family. Thank you Carole & Ed!!

Forget the Hotels when you can live like a Quebecer

  • 4 of 5

My wife and I have made many long weekend trips to QC but wanted to experience it more in a residential neighborhood in the old city. We were very happy to have chosen the Little Door which had a great location to all the tourist and restaurant areas. It was also near the farmer's market which is a great resource when you have a small kitchen in your room. The apartment is in a very old classic building but has been updated to be offer modern conveniences. The landlord was a pleasure to work with and was very pleasant.

The pricing of the apartment is very good because it is a half story above and below ground. The apartment has high ceilings once you go in but it has a door that is about 5 feet tall (we called it the Hobbit House). This was actually one of the fun features we liked about the place since we got some very interesting looks and some photos as I did a limbo to get my 6 foot frame under the frame. Again, don't let this discourage you, it is a charming place for a couple. Parking is available nearby although I highly recommend you use a GPS if driving since the streets are serpentine (we love that) and all one way so you need help navigating. Again this is all part of the charm of staying in one of the oldest cities in N. America. If you want charm and a great location I highly recommend a stay at the Little Door!
