Beatrice: thanks for your kind words and good advice to others who might want to stay with us. What you have pointed out is also our strength. We really do want our Guests to have "the cottage in the woods, on a beautiful lake" experience. I know one Guest who is 81 years old and has real trouble getting around, and does so with a cane. He loves it at Friendly Fires Getaway. He feels like it takes him back to when he was younger and able to participate directly in our Canadian heritage of roughing it out in the woods! Not quite a canoe trip in the back woods, but Friendly Fires Getaway is hardly "roughing it". The ambiance is totally there to enjoy it in more than relative comfort!

Thank you Liza! We are replacing the pellet stove shortly. We usually upgrade out kitchen gear twice per year, just to keep it fresh. Please come back!

Thank you Jim and Alice. It was a pleasure to host you. We appreciate you coming. There is a 2 bedroom space upstairs, 2 bedrooms on the same floor for infants or a small child. But, it is a point for people to note, if you have small children who need supervision, there are separate buildings.

Our customers are totally the heart of our business and have been for the over ten years during which we have been hosting short term rentals. We understand you were disappointed and unhappy with what you found when you arrived at Friendly Fires Getaway. We apologize again for that, and wish we could make it right for you. However, you make it clear in your review that this will be a difficult situation from which to recover. I am Robin and am the host here. I would like to communicate with you regarding your dissatisfaction with our cottage. I would like to somehow make amends for your unhappiness with us and what we offer. We do our best to represent out cottage as just that, a fun and inviting place in which to spend time at the edge of a beautiful lake. If you feel we misrepresented our cottage and its amenities, please know that we will make every effort to correct that. The large number of photos we have available on the booking sites such as Vrbo are our attempt to accurately and correctly present the location, the cottage as well as its extensive facilities which we want our guests to use and enjoy. We sincerely apologize for the problems and difficulties experienced by A.B and their party. We have sand, salt and emergency tire chains available onsite for winter use. We know this can be a requirement here. This is cottage country. It was exceptional winter weather. The situation was much more challenging than usual. In the last decade not one of our hundreds of Guests have had these kinds of problems. We are really sorry that A. B. and his party had this really difficult experience. We will update our guest information to be more explicit in mentioning that we are located in the typical Quebec cottage country environment. Clearly weather conditions can and will be an issue from time to time, particularly during the winter. That is both an issue we need to deal with effectively, as well as part of the charm of the location for our Guests.
