About the property

House, 2 Bedrooms + Bunk Area, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 5)

Experience the real Costa Rica at this home designed by renowned architect 'Olivier' of Nosara, for Europeans. The simple lines, high ceilings, vented through breezeways, original Mexican tile floors and wood ceilings add to the feeling of high tropical design for mainly outdoor living. (And Now Eco- AC units are available in the bedrooms, for those warmer days) A huge rancho shades outside meals, yoga, exercise and 'hanging out', overlooking the pool. The mature luscious landscaping boasts many varieties of plants and trees- where exotic birds and troops of monkeys pass through, usually daily, as this property backs up to the Nature Reserve in Pelada. The property is so wholesome and complete that it is hard to leave it, even to walk to the beach, a block away. But the beach! One of the quietest, most beautiful in Costa Rica, one can walk down the beach at sunset, and perhaps see one other person. Walk the beach to La Luna restaurant, one of the best in town, by sunset, wine and dine, and walk back to the house by full moon!

Nearby Guiones can be accessed by continuing on the beach a further few minutes, and over the pathway. For exercisers and walkers, it is possible to have a cardio walk 2 hours there and back without ever leaving the water, at low tide.

Our housekeeper will have the house in tip top shape (ladies want to take my housekeeper home!) when you arrive, and then comes once a week to clean to give you optimum privacy. Clean towels are available and sheets upon request. The weekly maid will handle your small personal laundry when she comes, or laundry facilities are nearby for larger loads if desired. There is a 75- management and cleaning fee on top of all bookings for 1-2 weeks, 100- 3+ weeks. Upon renting, you will be informed as to the best local supermarkets to buy food, best local restaurants, and the most economical, high quality way to live. Outdoor activities are within walking distance - horse riding, kayaking, wild life refuge tour, river tours, bird watching, and a short drive (5 minutes) to the longest zip line in the country, surf school, and a world famous yoga center. For a bout of tech-withdrawal, the house has fast internet access and wi-fi. Casita Louisa is a haven for the simpler, creative and healthy type, (or one who would like to be) who sees life in an artistic and healthful way, and wants to truly escape from the mayhem of contemporary life for a while, without spending a fortune! Paintings, books, films and artwork inside the house, and nature abounding outside - a true getaway!

Guestbook comments from the owner

Hi Joie,

We made it back home yesterday and wanted to thankyou for letting us stay at your beautiful home. We had a great time and really enjoyed all that Nosara has to offer. Our daughter loved the pool, monkeys and Gato. Richard was awesome as well as Jose and Isabelle, they all made us feel like family. Sad to be home, we could have used 3 more weeks down there.

thanks again

Awesome trip!!!

  • 5 of 5

House was excellent!!! We stayed for 5 weeks surfing in Nosara. House is located 5 min walk from the beach in Pelada and 15 min away from the main surf break in Guiones. House is spacious and the outside living area is great. You will spend most of your days (when not surfing!) sitting and eating outside as it is very confortable. The outdoor area is an extension of the kitchen, we spent most days preferring to eat in and chill in between surf sessions. We did have a car so exploring the area was easy, great restaurants, great surf breaks and plenty of shops nearby. Very peaceful, you find yourself in the jungle. Very quiet neighbourhood. Perfect for a small family of 4-5. Loved the pool! Lots of wildlife to see just sitting around the house. I greatly recommend it and would return to Casa Louisa :)

Owner's Response: We are so pleased when our guests understand our environment and take great care of our place! No doubt we are very proud of our sepcial travelers they really get it and they are always amazing guests. Just a note on the location- the north side of Guiones can be usually hiked to from Playa Pelada in about 20 minutes depending on the tide. It's a marvelous walk. Driving to there is about 7 minutes and the main breaks are usually a good 10 minutes to drive. South Guiones is about 15-20 minutes. Many people don't mention tide pools in Playa Pelada so taking a moment to talk about the delight of these natural wading and soaking pools which are a beautiful facet of Pelada. This area is away from the hustle bustle and dust and noise and is a true retreat, natural and authentic!

Beautiful spot

  • 5 of 5

We just got back from 5 nights at Casita Louisa and cannot say enough good things about it. It's in a great location, you can walk or drive to the beach. Great restaurants in the area, so you don't have to go far. The house is fully equipped with everything you need. The pool is huge and was fantastic to have. The house is secure and the owners have made sure all the windows have bars, it has the safe room where you can store all your valuables and the pull down gate, which secures the front door. Master bedroom has a large king size bed, quite firm but we slept great. You do have to run the fans, along with AC at night as it gets quite hot.

We really enjoyed our stay there and would go back in a heartbeat!

Beautiful Playa retreat

  • 5 of 5

I recently spent 5 weeks at Casita Louisa over the holiday season. My time there was partly a personal retreat, and the house and environs offered privacy, comfort, quietude and close proximity to the amazing beauty of the playas, rios and biological reserves.

The Casita is a nicely-sized house, so that when my daughter came to visit, we both had our own bedrooms and baths. We felt really comfortable. The spacious tiled and covered patio is a great spot to lounge, watch wildlife, paint, study, read, nap, do yoga. The pool is an added bonus- how great to dip in for an evening swim under the stars, or in the heat of the day. The house and garden are well maintained, and the house is well equipped. Both the property manager and Joie were very helpful with information about the community, the particulars of living in the house, travel directions and safety considerations. I especially liked the simplicity, scale and aesthetic of Casita Louisa- it matched our needs beautifully. There are a number of excellent yoga centers in the area, a world class surfing beach, and many activities for the naturalists! A magical spot!

Beautiful Vacation Rental - Total Paradise!!

  • 5 of 5

Casita Louisa was total paradise for my boyfriend and I. We stayed here for 8 nights and spent almost as much time relaxing at the peaceful house as we did exploring the beaches of Nosara. Its truly hard to tear yourself away from it but when you do all the amenities you need and sights you want to visit are close by. The house is well equipped, very well maintained and very comfortable. Joie was a great hand as we prepared for our trip and the property manager Ann Marie was professional and also very helpful.

There are quite a few restaurants within walking distance and the beach is wonderful for kids and families.

Can't recommend this place enough.

Beautiful House Near Beach

  • 5 of 5

My husband and 6 -year-old son and I stayed here for a wonderful week and a half in March. The house was comfortable and well-equipped for our family, and felt airy with its high ceilings. We loved the huge front porch, and spent a lot of time there while our son played in the pool, which he absolutely loved. The gardens are pretty, with pink bougainvillea and red hibiscus, and a good bit of shade. It was an easy walk to the lovely beach, where we usually saw only a few other people (some of whom we befriended). We really appreciated the peacefulness of the house to come home to after finishing our activities (hiking, swimming, snorkeling, surfing, horseback riding, etc.) The owner communicated well, and made us feel well-informed and welcome as we were planning the trip. I would definitely recommend this place (which my son calls "paradise")!

Beautiful property

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely stay at Casita Louisa. The location was great- private and yet close to the beach. We woke up to sounds of monkeys and birds each day. The house has a perfect simple layout. The huge shaded patio was wonderful and makes the house seem very large. We spent a lot of time there in the heat of the day. It was really nice to have a pool as well as the Ocean. There are a lot of pretty good little restaurants in the area. We had a very relaxing vacation. Joie was very helpful and responsive to all questions-- very nice to deal with.
