About the property

House, 2 Bedrooms + Bunk Area, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 5)

Experience the real Costa Rica at this home designed by renowned architect 'Olivier' of Nosara, for Europeans. The simple lines, high ceilings, vented through breezeways, original Mexican tile floors and wood ceilings add to the feeling of high tropical design for mainly outdoor living. (And Now Eco- AC units are available in the bedrooms, for those warmer days) A huge rancho shades outside meals, yoga, exercise and 'hanging out', overlooking the pool. The mature luscious landscaping boasts many varieties of plants and trees- where exotic birds and troops of monkeys pass through, usually daily, as this property backs up to the Nature Reserve in Pelada. The property is so wholesome and complete that it is hard to leave it, even to walk to the beach, a block away. But the beach! One of the quietest, most beautiful in Costa Rica, one can walk down the beach at sunset, and perhaps see one other person. Walk the beach to La Luna restaurant, one of the best in town, by sunset, wine and dine, and walk back to the house by full moon!

Nearby Guiones can be accessed by continuing on the beach a further few minutes, and over the pathway. For exercisers and walkers, it is possible to have a cardio walk 2 hours there and back without ever leaving the water, at low tide.

Our housekeeper will have the house in tip top shape (ladies want to take my housekeeper home!) when you arrive, and then comes once a week to clean to give you optimum privacy. Clean towels are available and sheets upon request. The weekly maid will handle your small personal laundry when she comes, or laundry facilities are nearby for larger loads if desired. There is a 75- management and cleaning fee on top of all bookings for 1-2 weeks, 100- 3+ weeks. Upon renting, you will be informed as to the best local supermarkets to buy food, best local restaurants, and the most economical, high quality way to live. Outdoor activities are within walking distance - horse riding, kayaking, wild life refuge tour, river tours, bird watching, and a short drive (5 minutes) to the longest zip line in the country, surf school, and a world famous yoga center. For a bout of tech-withdrawal, the house has fast internet access and wi-fi. Casita Louisa is a haven for the simpler, creative and healthy type, (or one who would like to be) who sees life in an artistic and healthful way, and wants to truly escape from the mayhem of contemporary life for a while, without spending a fortune! Paintings, books, films and artwork inside the house, and nature abounding outside - a true getaway!

Guestbook comments from the owner

Hi Joie,

We made it back home yesterday and wanted to thankyou for letting us stay at your beautiful home. We had a great time and really enjoyed all that Nosara has to offer. Our daughter loved the pool, monkeys and Gato. Richard was awesome as well as Jose and Isabelle, they all made us feel like family. Sad to be home, we could have used 3 more weeks down there.

thanks again

Incredible Costa Rica adventure!

  • 5 of 5

The house, with very large bedrooms/bathrooms at each end, a loft seeping area, well supplied kitchen, massive veranda, deep-clean swimming pool and large secure yard is perfect for this adventure.

Stunningly pretty and quite neighborhood. (No loud music or traffic to keep you awake).

Growler monkeys provided many laughs (especially the babies eating mangoes while hanging upside down from their tails and occasionally falling into the second canopy layer when they played and forgot to hang on) while enjoying morning coffee (there is a grinder in the kitchen and you can buy a variety of beans at the coffee store near the new Shell station 3km north).

The two iguanas that are like pets love to keep company at breakfast time.

And the fishing! We brought medium weight spinning rods. You can buy live bait from the locals fishing the evening tide where the "Boca" meets the ocean, or use 3/4 oz hooks with artificial worm lures (they don't get hung on the rocks) to stand on the rocks at the surf break and catch Snook from 10-40lb. They act like Tarpon, jumping and trying to spit out the bait. Incredible fishing experience. (We were happy to leave 30lb of fresh fish for Virginie, the superb property manager as we couldn't take home or eat all that we caught...and we grilled a lot of fish on the unique grill by the pool).

The book at the house recommends several restaurants within walking/short driving distance that are fantastic (no surprises, the food has a special mild spice that you just can't identify).

There are also directions in the book to pharmacy (where they speak fluent English). grocery, the #3 attraction in Costa Rica, Miss Sky Zip Line tour...(wow!).The recommendations for things to do and people to meet were spot on. (Marylin at "Coconut Harry's" was especially helpful locating trusted local providers for anything).

We did not meet a singe person who was unfriendly or unhappy!

Offshore and inshore fishing boats are only 15km south at Garza and well worth the money.

Quiones is only a few minutes away with a super atmosphere.

Nosara is only 7km and has anything you might want.

We couldn't tear ourselves from the beach until 30-minutes after dark as the stunning sunset photo's changed minute by minute.

I could go on...but better if you go find what you like!

only regret is that we didn't book another week as there Is more to do and see than we could in 2.

Pura Vida indeed!

Great Spot

Amazing home in Nosara. The house was clean and orderly, Joie and Virginie were both easy to work with, and we were close to everything we needed. Highly recommended. The pool was a huge plus too, especially when coming back from the beach!

Incredible Costa Rican Experience

  • 5 of 5

This is an incredible place! The outdoor covered living area, surrounded by a tropical oasis, is as peaceful as it gets. The home is perfectly equipped with all you need and a comfortable place to sleep after a short stroll to the spectacular beaches or a night out at restaurants/bars nearby. The pool is relaxing and good size. The area has a real cool, laid back vibe and any stress that may have came with you immediately melts away. The owners are great and very responsive. I would highly recommend this property for your next vacation

Lovely jungle retreat walking distance to beaches.

  • 5 of 5

Great place to stay!

The owners are very nice and provide you with everything you need to arrive safely at the house and give plenty of suggestions for dining and recreation.

The house is very lovely. Rooms are clean. Air conditioners in the bedrooms for sleeping. Pool is great! Lots of monkeys and other creatures visited us during our stay.

Walking distance to playa paleda. Less then ten minute drive to playa guionnes. Beaches are amazing. All the restaurants we dined at were delicious!

The drive from Liberia airport is tricky but totally manageable with the owners directions. I recommend traveling in daylight.

I highly recommend!

Owner's Response: We love our guests to have a great time. No question Playa Pelada is becoming a new hotspot with its Class A beach and slowly developing infrastructure - and still a far more reasonable place to rent than its counterpart to the south. We welcome adventurers of all kinds to our little, place in Paradise.

Great week in Nosara

  • 5 of 5

We (family of 4) rented the Villa for a week for our Spring Break. It is situated in a fairly quiet area that is a 5 minute walk to the beach and within a 10-15 drive of pretty much everything in that area like the gas station, grocery store, restaurants and surfing. It was great having the luxury of the full size pool to relax around when we weren't involved in an activity or at the beach. It is fairly well equipped for a short stay. Both Joie and the team managing the property Virginie and Ivan were very helpful. I would definitely rent the Villa again and would recommend it to anyone looking for accommodations in Nosara.

Awesome trip!!!

  • 5 of 5

House was excellent!!! We stayed for 5 weeks surfing in Nosara. House is located 5 min walk from the beach in Pelada and 15 min away from the main surf break in Guiones. House is spacious and the outside living area is great. You will spend most of your days (when not surfing!) sitting and eating outside as it is very confortable. The outdoor area is an extension of the kitchen, we spent most days preferring to eat in and chill in between surf sessions. We did have a car so exploring the area was easy, great restaurants, great surf breaks and plenty of shops nearby. Very peaceful, you find yourself in the jungle. Very quiet neighbourhood. Perfect for a small family of 4-5. Loved the pool! Lots of wildlife to see just sitting around the house. I greatly recommend it and would return to Casa Louisa :)

Owner's Response: We are so pleased when our guests understand our environment and take great care of our place! No doubt we are very proud of our speclal travelers they really get it and they are always amazing guests. Just a note on the location- the north side of Guiones can be usually hiked to from Playa Pelada in about 20 minutes depending on the tide. It's a marvelous walk. Driving to there is about 7 minutes and the main breaks are usually a good 10 minutes to drive. South Guiones is about 15-20 minutes. Many people don't mention tide pools in Playa Pelada so taking a moment to talk about the delight of these natural wading and soaking pools which are a beautiful facet of Pelada. This area is away from the hustle bustle and dust and noise and is a true retreat, natural and authentic!
