Designed for two, the Herons' Nest condo is a private and unique hideaway. Nestled in Tybee's historical Venetian Terrace District and sandwiched between the Atlantic Ocean and the Back River Inlet. The Herons' Nest offers a quiet retreat for honeymoons, anniversaries and rest and relaxation for hardworking couples. Lovingly designed by Tybee artists, Fred and Malinda Urvant, the condo reflects their eclectic Art-Deco style of design. Original paintings by the late Soho artist Larry Urvant and photographs by Fred Urvant adorn the walls. Restored Art-Deco furnishings and white tile floors complete the condo's cozy design.

Play on Tybee's scenic Back River Beaches and return to your own private tropical garden to rest and relax. Enjoy a cool drink on your spacious screened porch or soak in the warm waters of your own private 4-person Jacuzzi. Rejuvenate in a soft-water shower and wrap yourself in fluffy towels of Egyptian cotton and sleep on European style linens. Luxury at the beach is only a moment away during your stay at the Herons' Nest.

The Heron's Nest was wonderful - and so close to the Back Beach!

Had a great stay in this beach house. It's clean, cute with various cozy beach accomodations (including a beach wagon and chairs!), and honestly the proximity to the beach is hard to beat for the price too. Would definitely return! A great way to enjoy Tybee.

We absolutely loved our stay at Heron's nest. The place was not only very clean with a comfortable bed but so homely and welcoming. The highlight for us was the indoor hot tub! A complimentary bottle of wine was provided and we had everything we needed for a relaxing and fun getaway. We were able to tour some places in Tybee on bicycles provided by the host. It is a quiet location and close to the beach and many eating spots. The hospitality was top notch. Would definitely stay here again when in Tybee Island next time.

Found it a very comfortable and quaint oasis. My wife and i enjoyed the tranquility. We didn't use the hot tub, but thought it was a nice touch. Only downside to our time on Tybee had nothing to do with the unit but rather disappointing weather. Nothing the hosts could do about that!!

Herons’ Nest

Our stay was very cozy with close proximity to everything we needed. Was a nice short walk to the beach and also offered privacy in our down time. The people and food in the area were fantastic to be around. Would highly recommend.

Great location for two on Tybee! Within walking distance to everything you need & several beach access locations. The Heron’s Nest was very clean & cozy, offering a lot of privacy with its own backyard, outdoor shower, and screened in porch. Beach essentials were provided as well which came in handy. Everything that I needed was provided. Ice maker did not work, and showers were cold, but otherwise fabulous. The home is adorable. Loved the hot tub. Pleasant outdoor seating areas.

Fred and I are both transplants from the East Coast who met in Atlanta. Our dream was to return to the Atlantic Ocean and in 1994 we began a search for the perfect spot. I had been retired from Dupont Corp. after 20 years and Fred was ready to make a career change. Our search ended on Tybee in the Historic Back River District. My mother moved from Canada and settled on Tybee with us and my son and grandchildren settled in the city of Savannah.

Why they chose this property

Tybee was the perfect little beach city, quiet, picture perfect and so small that no one lived more than a few blocks from the beach. Housing values had not exploded yet and you were able to get a good value in a fixer upper.
** fast forward almost 20 years** Tybee is still the perfect little beach city and has retained it's 1950's atmosphere.

What makes this property unique

You only have to spend a few hours on Tybee to know that this Island is a one of a kind spot and be captured by it's unique culture. Close to Savannah and activities; Tybee offers a peaceful contrast. A calm, quiet and peaceful atmosphere is abundant. Walking the beach, riding bikes and watching sunsets is complimented by the generous and friendly nature of Tybee's local population who feel just grateful that they are able to reside on this little piece of paradise.
