About this property

The Duke of Lancaster

A complete remodel finished in August of 2020 preserved the heartwood pine floors from the 1800s and some of the original brick work but that is were the old part ends. Everything else is new as you can see in the pictures. including the all new HVAC system. We are perfectly situated close to downtown and just 5 blocks from the Convention Center. Have fun in Lancaster or just enjoy the front porch looking across to a ball field or the back balcony looking over your own private back yard.

Very Clean Property, nicer than. pictures.

Interior of property was top class and property owner left nice snacks and drinks for our family. Property was nicer than pictures, and pictures were good. Communication with property owner was excellent. Would reiterate a previous post that would not feel comfortable walking the neighborhood. alone at night.

New, Clean and Excellent Responsiveness

The house was a great retreat from the tennis tournament I was competing in. Wendell has created a new, clean and comfortable space. And his responsiveness was second to none. I emailed him 4-5 times and he responded on each occasion in less than 5 min.

A home away from home

The house looks even better in person than it does online. It's a perfect mix of modern amenities with the character of late 1800s building. Everything worked well, especially the AC, which is important to me as I like it very cool. The owners thought of everything from snacks and drinks to fresh cut flowers on the kitchen table, and real house plants. The beds were very comfortable and the wireless phone chargers and white noise machines were a nice touch. Wendell and his wife made the stay as easy as possible by having keyless entry and my personal favorite, no to-do list for checkout. Our stay was completely stress free. The location of the house was perfect for our needs, close to the Strasburg railway, local farms, yet close to city life. The neighborhood was lively on the weekend, but very quiet on the weekdays. We will definitely plan to return to this house on our annual PA trip. Thank you to Wendell and his wife for a wonderful stay, and all the little extras!

Loved this house!

The home is beautiful. Lovely back yard. The hosts were fantastic! They really make sure you don’t have to put in extra work just to enjoy your vacation. It was also very friendly to younger kids. They had games, toys, a pack n play, and a booster seat.

Clean Modern and Updated!

Overall wonderful place to stay in Lancaster. Short driving distance to restaurants and the surrounding farmland. There was always street parking available right in front of the home. The interior was clean and spacious. Even had a nice porch out front, and a cute backyard space with seating which wasn't in the pictures. Had a few fun games for the kids. Bedrooms were beautifully decorated and have ample space (although tiny closets). Only one shower (upstairs) but had good water pressure. Very convenient that there's a washer/drier. Owner thoughtfully left us snacks and water, and was also very responsive to any questions/concerns. The neighborhood is not in the best part of Lancaster - would not walk alone in the neighborhood at night but the home itself was great and felt safe. Enjoyed having this spacious retreat space while we visited Lancaster, Sight and Sound and Hershey.

Beautiful home

Wendell's house is beautiful. It had everything that we needed and was very clean, too. We appreciated the drinks and snacks. Our host quickly responded to all messages. He was an excellent host. I'd definitely stay here again.

House hunting trip

The house was just as pictured on line. It was very clean. The host left a fridge stocked with cold drinks and a snack basket stuffed to the brim! Very welcoming and appreciated after a long day of travel.

The perfect little getaway

We had an amazing time staying here! It was so nicely decorated, clean and the location was great. The beds were so comfortable and the check in and out process was so easy! I would recommend anyone and everyone stay here!
