Nestled amongst the greenery and sitting thirty-five ft.above the turquoise waters with 'nobody' else around but you, sits the beautiful cottage aptly named ' Beside The Pointe'. The quietness is deafening, the ocean view in front of you is pure ecstasy, and the sunset embraces you as it disappears into the water.
You have no neighbors - only the birds -go nude if you wish. Between Palmetto Point and Savannah Sound, a mile off the main highway thru a greenery-lined track road sits your tranquil paradise- a perfect hideaway for honeymooners.
The beach and sea is 100+ feet down a staircase. Food stores and restaurants are 5 miles away, close, yet far enough away from your quietness.
One mile from Ten Bay beach; 18 miles to Governor's Harbour Airport. Relax in central air comfort with DirectTV. Enjoy the quietness and spectacular views.
My husband and I spent 9 days at Beside the Pointe and it was absolute paradise. The cottage exceeded our expectations and the owner takes excellent care of the house and the property. The cottage was very clean and looked like it was brand new. The gardens were spectacular with papayas, mangos, bananas, pineapples and beautiful flowers everywhere. The owner was so nice and helpful in all aspects of planning our trip and he has really thought of everything. He provided snorkeling gear, kayaks, a fishing spear, fish traps and even a cell phone. We loved the secluded outdoor shower with a view of the Caribbean. The screened in porch was an excellent spot to relax and read after a day of playing. The snorkeling at the Pointe was unbelievable and my husband caught fish for dinner almost every night. We never saw another person in the bay. The location and seclusion of the cottage and the spectacular views of the bay make me wish I was still there. We will definitely stay here again!
My wife and I recently spent 2 weeks at 'Beside the Pointe", this was our 5th trip to the island and have to say that this cottage was our favorite of all our previous stays. The cottage is as described, and was very clean. The screen porch was a nice spot to sit after a day exploring the island. The kayaks were a wonderful surprise, we enjoyed exploring the coral walls, caves and cliffs. The location is very private and I would highly recommend renting a 4WD vehicle. Looking forward to our next trip!
Perfect for a couple, with maybe a small child. It is a like a studio apartment with a wonderful screened in porch as a living room. We saw two people in 11 days when sailboat anchored in "our" bay. Perfectly clean, with full bath and kitchen and outdoor shower as well. Kayaks on the beach with good snorkeling and boating. Beach is rocky with just enough to stretch out, but not so good walking. Miles of great sandy beaches nearby or with a half hour drive. For instance, go to Northside Beach Resort near Rock Sound for the day and have lunch with Rose. Our seventh, or eighth, visit to Eleuthera and our best. Met the owners, Keith and Sharon, and they are extraordinarily nice. Beautiful gardens filled with tropical plants.
This cottage is absolutely perfect! Let me start by saying, if you don't know exactly where to turn, you would never find this gem, it's well hidden at the end of a mile long driveway! The last half mile up to the house has beautiful landscaping on both sides of the drive, orchids on the trees, pineapples, mango trees, and on and on! The owner's retirement house is right next to the cottage, but he will be absent from his house during your stay at your request. He and his property manager will take care of every last detail from picking you up at the airport, to buying groceries for you, to giving all kinds of helpful info about the house and the island. The house itself is a very well built 450 square foot bungalow. Basically just one open space, and a bathroom. (I never used the inside shower because the shower on the outside, back of the house is awesome!!) it has a screened front porch that is perfect for an evening meal. There is a large flat screen tv with satellite service which works great, there was no DVD player when we were there, but we didn't really care, didn't need it! The beach is completely secluded from all access other than by coming in from the ocean. It's a short walk down a fifty foot concrete stair way. The beach itself is kind of rocky and small, (I'm sure that changes with the seasons), but that didn't matter much to us because the water is amazing! The snorkeling and kayaking are fantastic! I snorkeled all the way around both sides of the cove where the water became deeper and felt like the coral and fish were plentiful and beautiful! Saw two, four foot wide stingrays, found 70 sand dollars, a small nurse shark, sunbathed in our birthday suites and on and on!!
THIS PLACE IS PARADISE!!!
My husband and I stayed at Keith's cottage for our honeymoon..words (and even pictures) cannot express just how beyond perfect this place is. To start with, Keith was super prompt in replying to all our mails and numerous questions we had about our holiday..right from car rentals to great recommendations on things to do on the island.
The cottage is ideally located. Being at Savannah Sound, it is close to Governor's Harbour and all the restaurants and general supply stores, and nothing was too far for us. The house itself is absolutely wonderful - super clean, spacious, and so so comfortable. One look at the house and you can tell that Keith has gone that extra mile to furnish the house and landscape the garden and property around. The view when you arrive is simply breathtaking, and makes for a great postcard. Our favorite part of the house was the deck, where we spent our mornings..and evenings, sipping on tea while we watched the sunset and the magnificent panoramic view. There were plenty of clean towels, and the kitchen was fully equipped, and we found just as many utensils and equipment as we do in our own house. He even had a local cellphone ready for us in the event of any emergency, but you really won't need it cause he leaves no space for enquiries (and the people on the island are extremely friendly and will assist you with anything you need to know).
My husband and I made the most of the sea in front of the house. The water was very calm and so clear and was perfect for snorkelling and kayaking, something we enjoyed so much and did every day!!!!
Our top recommendations on the island- Friday Fish Fry at Governor's Harbour, Lighthouse Beach, Ten Bay (right next to the cottage), Queen's Bath and Glass Window Bridge and Harbour Island (pinks sand beach and Queen Conch for authentic Bahamian food). Tippy's, Beach House and Sky Beach are fantastic for food and chilling.
While staying at Beside the Pointe, you clearly get the feeling that Keith has put all his effort into this truly sublime property- everything was top notch and well maintained- I don't have enough adjectives to describe it. Thank you Keith for sharing this piece of paradise with us, it was a truly phenomenal and unforgettable experience.
My wife and I just returned from a fantastic trip, our first, to Eleuthera. It was our celebratory trip as we just graduated our last kiddo out of college and this trip could not have been much better! Keith was always quite helpful and puntual with answers to our questions before the trip. It's just like it shows on the web site pictures--really a beautiful location with views to die for! It was plenty spacious for us two, very clean, enough towels and beach toys, including ice chests, to make our stay easy and joyful. We spent every early morning and evening on the screened in deck, enjoying the views. Oh, and the outdoor shower was amost the only shower we used--I think we used the indoor shower one time while it was pouring rain.
And yes, lots of rain while we were there with rough seas the first half of our trip so we didn't snorkel much in the nearby bay (like 100 feet away!) until the last couple of days---the snorkeling there was as good as anywhere else we snorkeled! Very calm seas the last couple of days with mirror-like water in the bay--awesome!
We went to different beaches every day, with sponge beach being our favorite--no one else there the entire 8 hours over two days that we were there---again, awesome, private, and fun! We left a Google Earth map in the cottage to help people get to and enjoy that beach. The ONLY beach we saw anyelse at was Lighthouse---5 other couples there--that's all! So the beaches are private if you are the type who likes to search out other areas.
We enjoyed eating at Tippy's, Bucaneer (in Gov Harbor), Beach House (just past Tippy's and our favorite restaurant), Sky Beach, Mate and Jerry's, and Sunset.
After all our travels all over the island we're planning on mainly staying at the cottage on our next trip and just enjoying Sponge beach again..........
This is a great, private setting, quiet, with only the natural sounds or the TV to listen to----awesome!
