Loved the property and wonderful swimming pool. Weather was very hot and the children spent a lot of time in the pool. We hadn’t been to this part of France before and really liked the location of the property as there were plenty of things to do nearby. Hosts (Jean-Luc and Veronique) were fabulous and although living in the adjoining property they were very discrete. We would certainly consider visiting again!!

Peaceful picturesque Mirepeiset

Very warm welcoming reception from hosts Jean-luc and Veronique.Beautiful and spotlessly clean house. Very well maintained garden and outdoor space. Pool was really good size although relatively deep even at shallow end. The only air conditioning is mobile fans for the bedrooms only this was a struggle for the second week as temperatures were in the 30s it made sleeping very difficult. I think you can pay extra for an air conditioning upgrade. Jean luc and Veronique live next door but are very unintrusive yet available if needed this was not a problem for us at all. The village itself is quaint and quiet. On a Sunday night there is a van selling burgers you need to pre order or arrive at 6.30pm to secure. On Wednesday night there is a pizza van again pre ordering is recommended. The bistro in the village Bistro de la placette was delicious it probably served us the best meal of the holiday the menu changes weekly.The hosts were on hand to recommend restaurants/ days out. We visited Olonzac market, Narbonne, Béziers, Carcassonne and Gruissan and other smaller villages hiring a car is a must. The nearest village is Le Somail where there are a few more restaurants. It is walkable from the village via a short cut.( approximately 25 mins) worth a visit. As a family we hired bikes and cycled Le canal du midi to Homps again worth a visit due to the lake and access to water sports. Overall we had a very relaxing holiday with a good mix of sightseeing and days outside at the pool

A wonderful house, in a superb location, very comfortable, lovely cool living area to relax during the heat of the day, our children so enjoyed the pool and many pool toys, plenty of space to relax, and three areas for dining. Rooms were excellent, comfortable beds, just to note the Aircon, if required, is portable units you set up yourself through windows, but work well, fans available in each bedroom also. Location was in small village, with a shop that sells fresh bread, two restaurants plus a food truck (on certain days) all within easy 5min walk, plenty of other restaurants within short drive, and lots of places to visit, recommend Minerve - medieval village. We also experienced July 14th fireworks from clock tower in Capestang upon suggestion from Jean Luc and Veronique, who helped and answered questions when needed, but left us alone rest of the time. Worth reading through their restaurant and market recommendations too. We drove to Gorge du Brian, very neat Minerve and walked to the river for swim - highly recommended with older children, not that well signposted when your close to it, but trust google maps, enough water to swim in July.! and v refreshing after the 20min hike in heat.

Beautiful house

We had a lovely stay. The house is clean and as described. Jean-Luc is very helpful and met us on arrival to show us around. He was always available if we needed any assistance but also he and Veronique were very discreet.the pool is amazing and the garden is stunning. The village is small with one small shop and a lovely restaurant within a few minutes walk. There are plenty of supermarkets within 5/10 mins drive and many beautiful places to visit. Highly recommend Les Halles market in Narbonne. We would love to return to this beautiful area.

Französische Idylle

Wir wurden herzlich von den Gastgebern begrüßt. Es war alles super sauber und sehr schön eingerichtet. Der Internetauftritt stimmt mit der Wirklichkeit überein. Der große Pool war bei den sehr heißen Temperaturen eine schöne Abkühlung. Die Gastgeber konnten nur Französisch, aber die digitale Technik von heute hat sehr bei der Verständigung unterstützt. Wir können es nur sehr empfehlen und sagen nochmal Danke.

Wonderful stay in a lovely home

We stayed at three lovely rental homes during our trip to southwest France, but Le Fitou at the Winemaker’s House was by far our favorite. We immediately felt at ease in the house, which is spacious, bright and well furnished. All the furniture is extremely comfortable and the kitchen is well-equipped and pleasant to work in. The grounds are peaceful and gorgeous. Véronique and Luc are wonderful hosts. They gave us a warm welcome, made us feel right at home and made a number of helpful suggestions for places to visit in this captivating and historic part of France. They were always available and interested in our day trips but were never intrusive. Truly perfect hosts. We visited Minerve, Narbonne, Chateau d'Aguilar and Fontfroide Abbey, and enjoyed them all, though the drive up to Aguilar did require nerves of steel from these American drivers :-). Fontfroide Abbey, somewhat surprisingly, turned out to be our favorite spot. The gardens and the setting in a wooded valley are almost stunning as the abbey itself. We can't recommend Le Fitou too highly and hope that some day we can return.

La maison est très bien ainsi que le propriétaire. Bien équipée, propre et très agréable. Maison pas climatisée malgré que c’était noté sur l’annonce. Pour la TV, chaine anglaise uniquement. Eau de la piscine propre mais froide. Village assez morne. Au final, bien mais un peu trop chers pour l’équipement manquant qui était noté sur l’annonce.

Great time!

We had an excellent time staying at this residence. Very clean, extremely kind and considerate hosts (Roger and Jane) - and very, very helpful people with great tips. The pool was great and there was alot more to do in this region than what we had expected (we are glad that we spent 2 weeks and not just one).

Le Fitou - family stay

We had a wonderful time at Le Fitou. Roger and Jane were excellent hosts, full of interesting information about the surrounding areas and some excellent recommendations of places to see/eat out which we took them up on. The property itself is lovely and peaceful and had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable. We travelled with two small children and the property and outside space were suitable for them. Thanks for a great time!

Fantastic Discovery

Four heavenly days at The Winemakers House in Le Fitou. A beautiful, spacious, well equipped comfortably furnished gite. A home from home in terms of facilities, plus a large pool, lovely garden, even Sky TV for the heathen. Roger & Jane’s attention to detail was much appreciated, we wanted for nothing. Their warm welcome and arrival briefing meant we had 4 really good days seeing and doing much more than we’d planned. Fantastic location and lots to do, the kids will love it when we return.

Superb property in a lovely Languedoc village

Great Gite and a fantastic swimming pool. Roger and Jane were the perfect hosts and we particularly appreciated the very generous welcome pack they provided. All the basic amenities (washing materials, toilet paper etc) were also in plentiful supply and we wished all other Home Away properties would do the same! The village is lovely and very welcoming with two good restaurants within walking distance and many others within a short drive. No hesitation in recommending this Gite and just follow Roger and Janes suggested itineraries, you wont go far wrong! Thanks again for a great stay. The Plants!

Superbe gîte situé dans un charmant village au calme

Villa très agréable, spacieuse et super bien équipée. Des propriétaires charmants et pleins d’attentions: frigo bien garni en vivres et boissons à l’arrivée, baguette de pain frais, de quoi préparer un repas, du café. Équipement tout-à-fait complet:tous les produits consommables ménagers fournis, même le charbon de bois et les allumes feux pour le BBQ. A recommander aussi pour la propreté, le confort et l’équipement pour la piscine: parasol, lit et matelas, drap de bain, beauté du jardin. Propriétaire aux petits soins et de bons conseils pour les lieux à visiter et les restos.

Lovely family holiday at Le Fitou

We had a wonderful holiday at Roger and Janes Le Fitou Gite in Mirepeisset. The gite was very clean and spacious and had everything in it you could ever need , We were a party of four so didn't use the 3rd bedroom but the gite would easily accommodate 6 people in comfort . The pool was lovely and a great size and very clean and there were plenty of sun loungers and sun shades available. We loved the area and found it very central to most things , Narbonne only a short drive , Carcassone nearby , kayaking , cycling and lots of nice restaurants , we found Roger and Jane very helpful and friendly and they definitely made our stay so much better. we wouldn't hesitate to recommend this gite to anybody and left with only happy memories of a great holiday.

A Lovely Gite in Languedoc

Wow! A beautiful Gite,spotlessly clean with every amenity we could wish for.It had a large swimming pool ,a delightful garden and it was pleasure to return to after days out exploring this beautiful area.Roger and Jane were exceptional hosts, providing us with lots of helpful hints to enhance our holiday.Looking forward to return next year.

Great week in Languedoc

Just returned from a delightful week staying with friends in Le Fitou at the Winemakers House. Very spacious and comfortable and spotless inside and out with all facilities as listed on website Jane and Roger are superb hosts providing an excellent welcome pack of essentials (and treats) on arrival and went above and beyond in providing guidance and information if required about getting the most out of your visit to this beautiful and historic part of France. Ideal base for looking around or just chilling out. The village is small and quiet with a shop providing bread and essentials, and a supermarket and Pharmacy are only a 5 minute drive. Le Garonne restaurant and Bar is good and only short walk to the river/ campsite. Le Somail on the canal is only 20 minutes or 5 min in the car with L'o a la Bouche and several other good restaurants on the canal. 1..5 hr drive from Montpellier Airport/ Less from Carcassonne or Beziers. Narbonne, Carcassonne ,Minerve ,Ventenac , Assignan are all within easy reach with great restaurants recommended by Jane and Roger.with easy reach by car Thanks to Jane and Roger - top marks overall and will be back for more.

Beautiful gite in a quiet, characterful location

Le Fitou is in a beautiful part of southern France; there is plenty of stunning countryside and many quirky towns to explore. The gite itself has everything needed for a comfortable stay and there is great attention to detail in the way it has been appointed. The owners are incredibly helpful and made sure we got the most out of our stay.

Perfekt, super schönes Haus, alles vorhanden was man für einen schönen Urlaub benötigt.

In und um das Haus herum ist alles vorhanden was man braucht. Terrasse, Abstellplatz für Auto und Fahrräder. Genügend Geschirr, Gläser, Haushaltsgegenstände.Alles sehr sauber. Heizung Decken Waschmaschine... Jane und Roger sind sehr nett hilfsbereit und immer eine guten Idee auf Lager. Auch Ende März war der Pool zur Freude der Kinder mit Wasser gefüllt. Die beiden kleinen liebenswerten Hunde machten das Glück perfekt. Das Haus liegt sehr ruhig und trotzdem ist der kleine Laden, für Baguette und alles was man sonst so braucht nur wenige Schritte entfernt. Wir hatten trotz der frühen Jahreszeit einen wunderbaren Urlaub.

A French holiday to remember in a lovely gite in a fantastic location.

Just returned from a wonderful week spent in the Aude region of the Languedoc . Le Fitou is a traditional French gite with a large pool, sun beds and well kept garden situated in a small village location near to the Canal Midi and the beautiful historic towns of Narbonne and Carcassonne. It is well equipped with spacious bedrooms and modern bathrooms. One of my memories will be waking up with the sunshine gleaming ,overlooking the garden and pool and listening to the church bells ringing. Roger and Jane ( plus lovely Lupin the small friendly dog) are fantastic friendly hosts; they have researched the local area well and subsequently know the best places to visit including restaurants, beaches and historic villages. We have stayed in many gites and villas during the last 10 years in France and the welcome pack was the best ever, thank you. My family and I look forward to returning in the future.

Superb accomodation

We (mum, dad plus sons 18 and 20) spent a wonderful 2 weeks at Le Fitou. We became 5 when joined by a son's friend in the second week. More than enough space and very comfortable- large living room with adjacent, well equipped, kitchen and dining room. We didn't use the dining room much, as we tended to eat on the shaded patio table just outside the kitchen, beyond which was a large, clean and essential (it was very hot) swimming pool within a beautiful garden. 3 good sized and comfortable bedrooms equipped with fans (essential at night). We loved it. Our hosts, Roger and Jane, could not have been more kind and helpful. They were full of information about the local area (places to visit, good restaurants, the best beaches, parking in nearby towns) which is so useful when you only have 2 precious weeks' of holiday. The location was perfect. So many interesting places to visit within an hour's drive. The furthest we travelled was to beautiful Montpellier, which took about an hour, but Beziers and Narbonne could be reached within 30 mins or so). Carcasonne about 45 mins. Memories will include: the village annual fancy dress barge race; boating on the canal; drinking with the locals at the nearby woodland bar; walking by the river to a beautiful nearby village called Le Somail (you must eat at the restaurant next to the second hand bookshop- Roger and Jane will give you the details); swimming in nearby rivers; wine tasting (if you throw a stone here, you will hit a vineyard); the boys and dad being pulled behind a speed boat at the nearby beach; eating grilled sardines and drinking wine at the beach restaraunt; 10km kayak ride (fantastic!); opening the shutters every morning to perfect weather. Thank you again to Jane and Roger for stocking our fridge with a few essentials prior to arrival. So kind. We will return!

Super gite in a lovely village

We had a fabulous two weeks in this lovely place. The gite is very clean and well equipped, with a generous supply of groceries/consumables so no need to rush to the supermarket on arrival. Superb pool! Roger and Jane are very welcoming hosts with a good knowledge of the area. The village is lovely. Walking to the shop for fresh croissants every morning is a pleasure when you are openly greeted by local residents. There are so many places to visit within easy travelling distance and also a great selection of eateries in the area. Looking forward to returning soon.
