Barefoot Bay - beach house w/ 3 pods, views of Atlantic Ocean & Sea of Abaco

Barefoot Bay, located in Hope Town on the southern end of Elbow Cay in the Abacos, Bahamas, is a newly renovated oceanfront beach house, designed for up to three families or six couples. It's located near Tahiti Beach in Dorros Cove. It accommodates up to 16 guests featuring six bedrooms and four bathrooms. It has two master bedrooms. Each master is en suite, with another bathroom for the remaining bedrooms. All new furniture and appliances, including two refrigerators in the kitchen to make sure your food and beverages have plenty of room to stay cold. Each refrigerator has an ice maker as well. There is a gas grill (propane included). We also have a back up generator that powers the entire house so you're never without power. There's also a reverse osmosis water maker to make sure you always have water.

Barefoot Bay overlooks the southern end of Elbow Cay - beautiful island views and awesome sunsets over the Sea of Abaco. It has 3 separate pods - two with bedrooms/bathrooms and one with a kitchen/living area. It also has a pool overlooking the Sea of Abaco and Atlantic Ocean. It is a short walk or ride to the world famous Tahiti Beach on the southern tip of the island. There's also a private boat slip included, located at the dock at Tahiti Beach. The boat slip is 11' wide, so a 10' or less beam is recommended so your boat will comfortably fit in the slip. An additional slip may be available if needed. It fits a boat with up to a 13' beam and is $100/day. Please let us know if you're interested in reserving the additional slip.

Our caretakers will pick you up at the dock, make sure you have everything you need while staying at Barefoot Bay, and make sure you get back to the dock/ferry safely when departing.

We also have a sister property, Barefoot Beach, located just a 5 minute walk away. It is a six bedroom, 4 bathroom property that sleeps up to sixteen people, as well. It is also featured on VRBO.

Herron Dawes Family Vacation

We had an amazing time and couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay than Barefoot Bay! There wasn’t a bad view from anywhere in the house. Having a pool to relax in after a long day at the beaches was a major plus. The caretakers, Brandon and Jess, were quick to respond to our needs and truly great people. Breath Taking

Everything about this vacation was magical. The house is perfect for multipal families. The Pods give you privacy when needed but also togetherness in the common living area! Location is a 10! The view is one of the best on the Island.

Family Wedding Celebration

We loved the living room / kitchen area being completely separate from the bedrooms. The two separate houses for sleeping/bedrooms were great for adult children. Location to the dock was so convenient. The house manager and cart service were quick to respond with any questions we had. We would definitely stay at Barefoot Bay again.

Barefoot Bay was the perfect stay

Excellent all around, amazing views of Tahiti Beach, close to docks, east golf cart ride away from restaurants. The house setup was perfect for our two families (teens and adults). Gorgeous house and very comfortable. House is fully stocked with kitchen, towels and linens, pool in was perfect. Brandon and Jess were so helpful and responded quickly to any questions we had.

Beautiful home for large or multiple families

Barefoot Bay is a lovely home - surely with one of the finest views on the southern end of Elbow Cay. From the pool deck you have exposure to the Atlantic, Tilloo Cut, and the Sea of Abaco. The bedrooms enabled our group of 10 to sleep comfortably, with all couples and some of the “kids” having their own room. The dock was perfect for our rental boat. The central pod is an ideal place for the group to congregate, whether for a large meal or to watch an evening movie on the large-screen TV. The caretakers were responsible to our few requests. We’ve been staying on Elbow Cay for many years, and Barefoot Bay was probably the best house we’ve ever rented here.

Great House, Great View, Great Location

This is our second time at Barefoot Bay. First time back since hurricane Dorian. The place is still awesome. Plenty of room with 6 bedrooms. Excellent great room with kitchen and TV. Lovely pool. The boat dock is a must and comes with the house. Just a short cart ride away. We will be back again.

Beautiful new home with great amenities. All new appliances, furniture. Super comfy beds. The views and from the house and the deck are spectacular. The layout is great for large groups and having the common area separate from the sleeping quarters means partiers don't keep youngsters or "sleepy" adults awake. Strongly recommend.

Christmas in Paradise

We enjoyed an amazing week with family at Barefoot Bay during the Christmas/New Year holiday. I have been renting properties in Elbow Cay for over a decade and this is our favorite one yet. The house is very comfortable and cozy and well appointed. There were plenty of linens, towels, and kitchen items (including 2 refrigerators) which was a big plus with our large group. Loved the layout with the separate pods, the pool and the crows nest. The caretakers were extremely responsive and took good care of us. I highly recommend and we will rent again.

Great House and View!

This was our 2nd time staying here the first time being 2018. House is fully repaired and not many changes. Pool is great and view is unmatched! We had 10 old and young adults this time and last time we had about 13. Great location near Tahiti Beach and now comes with 2 boat slips at the neighborhood dock. At the opposite end from Hopetown and pretty quiet. Roads have been improved since Dorian and most of the island has recovered. Ready to go back!

Spectacular Views

I’m just going to list all the great things about this stay. First class hosts with Brandon and Jess who met us at the private dock near the house to unload us. Basically a brand new home post Dorian. Views of Abaco Sea and Atlantic Ocean right outside your door. Constant sea breeze. Two refrigerators were perfect for the food to feed 10 adults and 2 kids. Pool was spotless. Crows nest had views never to be forgotten. Best part was the 3 separate pods which gave privacy but gave us great family time in the center pod. We never turned on the TV. Note there is a new bar in the center of the pods for Happy Hours. Highly recommend

Perfect Bahamian gathering spot

First, owners Alexandra and William and the caretaker on location were so responsive and helpful as we prepared for this large family getaway. Jess helped us make chartered ferry and golf cart reservations, as well as concierge service to stock the fridge with basics for our arrival. The house was within walking distance from ferry dock and several wonderful beaches for walking, swimming and snorkeling. Cart rides into town for the town beach in the Atlantic was our favorite. The pods in the house provided great privacy and adequate sleeping for all 12 of us. Local grocery stores were great for cooking many meals. Eating out was always fun but expensive. One excursion to Marsh Harbor for Xmas dinner groceries proved an excellent idea. The pool was terrific for all ages. The kitchen/dining/living room pod was spacious and just right for our large group to eat together and gather. We had fantastic December beach weather in the 70’s all week. Islanders were so welcoming and relaxed. Overall we could not have been happier!

Paradise!!!

Property was accurately advertised and fit our family of 15 from a 15 month old all the way up! Views are amazing, especially the sunsets! The 2 refigerators really helped! Jess and Brandon are wonderful caretakers, and were on point with everything all week! ANY small issue that we had was addressed in a very timely manner! Thank you for a wonder family vacation!

This was an excellent property for our large family of all ages. We had the best view on the island. We loved the set up of the house with the family room pod in the middle which allowed early risers and late nighters to enjoy their time without waking others. The care takers could not have been more helpful. This property made for a 5 Star week.!

Great Family Stay

We loved our time at Barefoot Bay compound. The separate pods made it easy to gather, cook and eat in the main pod and when the late owls wanted to stay up and play cards, the rest could go to sleep in the separate bedroom pods. Jess and Brandon, the super nice caretakers, picked up all our stuff at the ferry and got us settled in for our stay. The house is a 5 minute walk to Tahiti Beach for swimming and snorkeling and Hope Town a 10 minute cart ride for groceries or restaurants. The Island is quickly recovering from Dorian and the locals are friendly and helpful.

Beautiful Break From Reality

My wife, Mary, and I are from Virginia Beach, VA and have been married since 1988. I've owned Abbey Road Restaurant at the Virginia Beach oceanfront since 1982. Mary has been a financial planner since 1988. We love spending family time with our 3 daughters and traveling whenever we can - often to Elbow Cay!

Why they chose this property

Mary and I first visited the Abacos by boat in the late 80’s and immediately fell in love with Hope Town and Elbow Cay. After having three beautiful daughters in the early 90’s, we began renting houses around the island, mostly Tilloo Cut (the home that would become Barefoot Bay). We purchased Tilloo Cut in 2005 when it went up for sale and named it Barefoot Bay as a sister property to Barefoot Beach. We added a third pod to add three more bedrooms (total of six) to make it more family friendly. We’ve enjoyed staying at our beach home with family and friends, and hearing stories from our wonderful renters, as well.

What makes this property unique

We have thoroughly enjoyed Barefoot Bay. The house is spacious and very family friendly, offering 6 bedrooms and sleeping up to 16 people. The pod layout is great for groups that want to have quieter bedrooms and a separate living area. Being on the very south end of Elbow Cay the views are some of the best on the island, offering views of the Atlantic Ocean and the Sea of Abaco. Beautiful sunsets can be enjoyed from the deck or widow’s peak. Tahiti Beach is just down the road and is a great place to hang out, enjoy the beautiful water, and watch the sea rays and turtles that swim by almost every late afternoon. We hope our guests enjoy it as much as we do.
