Matthew,
Thank you, we’re glad that you had a great time, and strive to keep it clean so you feel like you’re at your home in a very modern Loghome that definitely has an *Alaska theme with the decorations, the wolverine, wolf, lynx, beaver and fox furs with horns and antlers. It is the closest property to the south edge of Denali National Park. The other nice thing is that it isn’t in the cluttered glitter Gulch area, where there are only hotels to stay that cost $500 per room per night for 2 people. We stay in Vrbo property’s when on vacation and love the fact that we can cook, barbecue, wash clothes and aren’t confined to eat out every night. It’s also nice that you have 1 acre that you can roam around on, have a fire, play cornhole or just watch the airplanes come and go or enjoy the beautiful property.
The cabin was perfect. Near the park with everything we needed. We had a little problem with the hot water and our host responded promptly with a fix. You will like this cabin.
The house and host were better than expected. Location is great for exploring the Denali area. The airstrip right outside the house was such a fun experience also. The house felt like home away from home, just Alaska themed. The host was extremely easy to communicate with and was very helpful. We would absolutely stay here again and will recommend it to anyone wanting to visit this area.

Kelly,
We’re so glad you had a great time and we wish the weather would’ve been a little bit warmer, but that’s the way of the year has been cold winter and cold spring. Great campfire
Glad you got to see the sheep right down the road right off the highway.
We hope we get to see you again in the future
Kelly & Cheryl
We had a fantastic experience! The communication with Kelly was excellent! He responded to questions quickly and provided valuable information! The outside of the home looks like a cabin but the inside is very much like a cozy lodge! The kitchen had everything we needed and more! Coffee, filters, and coffee pot. It had SO MANY spices!!! Kelly was SO accommodating. He said, “If there is a spice we don’t have and you want it we will get it for you!” They had way more spices then we could ever use!Kelly notified us on arrival day that Denali was visible and highly recommended we take the trip to see the summit. We took his advice and we were able to see both the north and south peaks! Truly amazing!! Kelly also provided several locations to fish for Arctic grayling and we caught several graylings 3 days in a row!Kelly also provided us with information for Denali Air airplane rides and we booked a flight and it was worth every penny!!The cabin was clean and located in a very convenient location as it was close to the park entrance. We enjoyed campfires on the property. I would strongly, without reservation, recommend staying at this cabin! We also did a whitewater rafting adventure with New Wave Adventures and had a BLAST! We ate at the Panorama Pizza pub which was DELICIOUS! And we ate at Rose’s Cafe in Healy which served huge platters of food!We cannot thank Kelly and Cheryl enough for the most AMAZING vacation!!!!
Great cabin decor for hunters/outdoor guests. Wonderful location if you enjoy airfield activities and small planes coming and going. Good launch point for Denali activities.
10 mins from Denali park visitor centre, well located to explore this beautiful park of Alaska. House is comfortable and well equipped with everything you might need

About the host
Hosted by Kelly or Cheryl Painter
Kelly was born and raised from Eugene, OR. Fell in Love with Alaska and decided Alaska is Home Interests; Work before play, Hunting, Fishing, and Traveling, Family. Cheryl is Alaskan Native, born and raised from Southeast. Interest; Enjoy Life, Family , Work, Travel. How did we meet, Kelly had a job in Southeast Alaska 1991, I worked as a Ticket Agent. His work company would freight just about everyday, we started to chat and out on a date it was year 1991, we have been married since 1992. We both enjoy our family time with our 3 wonderful children and enjoy our time with our 7 grandkids, Alaska will always be our home.
Why they chose this property
We have another VRBO just 2 miles off of the Denali highway, at Cantwell, and decided to buy another property to share. The Property at Cantwell is called "Gorgeous Lakeside Chalet" and if the log home isn't available, you may check this property out as well. We wanted to open our 2 homes for other travelers to enjoy our Alaskan nature and relax at the same time.
What makes this property unique
We feel that MP 229.5 is the most centrally located property in relation to Glitter Gulch, Denali National Park and activities taking place between the Park and the Denali Highway to the South
