A fishing trip with my 2 boys. House was perfect for us. Location could not have been better. Grocery store very close, good restaurants, and about a 10 minutes to the dock!
Set in a quiet neighborhood, this house features beautiful yard with a gorgeous view of the mountains right out the front door. Very convenient location with a grocery store two minutes away. A particularly fun touch to this house was the record player with the vintage record collection. Great communication with the host, who was very helpful!

2 bedroom house, one bedroom has skylight which made sleeping difficult with 20 hrs of daylight in Alaskan summers! Bathroom small, climb-in tub with hand shower and curtain. May be hard for those with limited mobility to use the climb-in tub. Owners live adjacent… helpful and friendly but not intrusive. Comfortable for 2 couples with short stay.

Brian was very helpful. Cottage was clean and comfortable and had everything we needed for our visit. Would definitely stay there again.
Loved this location, quiet but close to town. Special bonus is the full size washer and dryer. Hosts were responsive but not intrusive. Front porch is nice for chilling out.
Bathtub was nasty, needs replaced. I was partially handicapped and had very hard time. Other two wouldnot use it. Living room very dark. Stove very old couldnt cook frozen pizza in it.
Really...why stay in a hotel when you can have a house for much less?
I'm a frequent visitor to Sitka and glad I found this property. The owners are great, very responsive and it's a great neighborhood. Within a 5 minute walk, there are groceries, coffee and the waterfront. If it's available on my next trip to Sitka, I'll be there.

We arived in the middle of the night and check in was easy. The neighborhood was quiet so we could sleep in the next morning. The apartment was comfy and well furnished. We could easily walk the 15 to 17 minutes it took to get to downtown Sitka. We enjoyed the historic park full of totem poles; and the BEAK restauramt was fanbulous! It was a nice prelude to the small ship cruise the next day.
good value for the money.. location made for easy access to everything in sitka... only issue would be with the shower and lighting... Im 6'4 and my head hit the ceiling in the shower and there wasn't much pressure...

Thank you for your feedback and for bringing the shower water pressure issue to my attention in your comments. I have cleaned the screen and the shower head works perfectly now. We enjoyed meeting you and your son and hope to see you back in the future.

Disappointed
I was traveling with kids and looking for a relatively inexpensive, basic, non-Instragramable place to stay, and I chose this place based on the favorable reviews. It was a major disappointment, and my experience was very different from those in the other reviews. Lightning was very poor, including floor lamps without knobs and low wattage bulbs. This is a big deal in a town with 16 hours of nighttime. The kitchen is extremely small, with about three feet of partial countertop, crammed into a corner up against the refrigerator. The dishes and silverware weren't clean and several had food from the last guests still stuck to them. Cabinets in the bathroom were coming apart. There was no central heat, only a stove in the living room and space heaters everywhere else. It mostly hasn't been rewired to support three pronged lamps and things, so there are power strips for most electric outlets, which is a fire hazard, a trip hazard, and also unsightly. There's no table or desk, only a kind of breakfast bar area that has cabinets under it so there's no space for your legs. The owner took several days to respond to one query, and more than a day to respond to another. It's also half of a duplex, which isn't mentioned in the listing. I happened to meet the owner when she came to pick up a couple packages that had been sent there, albeit more than 24 hours after delivery, and she seemed nice. But that's about the only positive thing I can say about this place.

Hi Robert.
We appreciate your feedback. It is that time of year when if you close the blackout curtains, there are only lights and lamps in the house. I have checked the lamps and all do have knobs, however the knob on the larger lamp is a dial and that may be why you thought it was missing.
We do have professional housekeeping, staff, and I’m extremely disappointed about the dishes you found that were not clean. We will put measures in place to ensure this doesn’t happen again.
There is a vanity and a cabinet for towels in the bathroom. Both were in perfect shape when I did my walk-through before you checked in. Thank you for bringing this to my attention. I will make sure to check on this right away.
In an effort to reduce impact to the climate, we have moved away from a central based oil furnace to provide a Toyostove that dramatically reduces the oil usage. This stove provides plenty of heat for the entire rental and is rated to heat twice the square footage. The two small electric oil heaters are provided as a back up in case there is an issue with the primary Toyostove. With Weather that gets as cold as it does in Alaska it is critical for us to provide backup heat options.
This is an older home and we do provide power strips behind the couches and beds to allow plenty of outlets to charge iPhones and computers, etc. All power strips are behind furniture where there is no tripping hazard at all.
Lastly, I do apologize for not responding quicker to your messages. Unfortunately, I’m not always notified when messages come into VRBO.
We hope that you and your kids were able to enjoy your time in Sitka. It was a week of very bad weather and know that can make it difficult when you’re stuck inside with a little ones.
Thank you thank you again for your feedback. Take care.

We were only able to stay a few hours at the house due to huge travel delay. Everything was great! Owner was easy to contact and very accommodating. Thanks
Basic but clean. Great location for walking in Sitka. Could use more lighting, a little dark. Worked for our family of 5, but felt a little cramped. Good value for the price!

We loved every aspect of our stay here. Julie and Brian were wonderful hosts, and extraordinarily accommodating. Located in a quiet residential neighborhood, it's a 2 minute walk to the Fisheye coffee shop, another minute to the supermarket, a 10 minute walk to downtown and a 20 minute walk to the Sitka Historic Park. This is the first place we'll look for next time we're in Sitka.
I have never had a more accommodating host. Julie was quickly responsive, assisted us with all of our needs, even provided additional support when we thought we might be stranded an extra night due to weather.
The house was cozy, warm, and the perfect location. It was four of us ladies and we used the home as a base for our grand hiking adventures. Would 10/10 recommend and will definitely be back!
Property is in great location, can walk to grocery store or downtown. Everything we needed was provided. Great pillows! Washer and dryer are brand new and amazing. Hosts are very kind and responsive. Quiet family neighborhood. Claw foot big tub. We would stay here again.
