Location: Solymar condos, Cancun, Quintana Roo, Yucatan, Mayan Riviera, Mexico (15 Minutes for Airport, 15 minutes from night life). We are located at the south end of the Hotel Zone about midway between Club Med and Hilton Hotels 15 minutes from the airport or downtown night life.
Accommodations: Ocean front penthouse with cathedral ceilings, has additional access to private roof top terrace. Unit sleeps 4 and includes full kitchen, full size fridge, air conditioning and large walk in shower. We have an onsite property manager.
Reasonable rates are available year round for the budget conscious family. CHECK IN AND OUT ANY DAY OF THE WEEK. We charge by the night not per person, with no minimum or maximum stays.
MINI MART WITHIN THE COMPLEX. All inclusive feature is available to all guests THAT can be purchased.
TRANSPORTATION- anywhere in Cancun is available via public buses for less than 1.00 USD per person 24 hours a day .and can be accessed directly in front of our complex.
SECURITY-The complex has 24 hour security including a gated entry into the complex . Our property managers can help you arrange trips to anywhere in the area to visit the wonders of the Riviera Maya and help you find places to eat each night, shop or go for entertainment after a long day on the beach or by the pool.
If for some reason you need to cancel your confirmed vacation after you book with us the following is our cancellation policy:

Cancellations -A sixty (60) day notice is required for cancellation. Cancellations that are made more than 60 days prior to the arrival date will incurr no penalty. Cancellations that are made within 60 days of the arrival date forfeit the full reservation deposit.
Depending upon availability for a period of one (1) year from date of receipt of your initial deposit you may reschedule for arrival within 1 year upon the receipt of your initial deposit.

We live in Canada and love to take winter vacations. When we found Solymar it was simply a great fit for us. It is on the beach so you wake up every morning to that beautiful aqua marine blue ocean that is so special. Solymar is on the 'tourist ' strip yet is a much smaller condominium resort. It has everything that we need, beautiful beach, ocean view , full kitchen that allows us to make healthy choices in the foods we buy and eat,with an adult pool and a children's pool. When we go to Solymar it is like coming home.

We love the Caribbean and find Cancun an easy to get to destination from almost anywhere. Mexico has just about everything one would want on a vacation at a reasonable price. Cancun offers scuba diving, snorkeling, great historical ruins and great restaurants and easy access to all. If you like to cook your own meals, Costco Cancun is a great resource.
Healthy food choices at the local Costco, Wal-Mart, Soriana's.Save money by eating in for breakfast and lunch.Then enjoy eating out at the many fabulous restaurants Cancun has to offer! With the two new mega grocery stores right in the Hotel Zone, makes shopping for healthy choices easier all the time.
We rented a condo from Nancy and Larry Cousins recently and were so pleased. The location was great...right on the beach but on the "quiet" end of the hotel zone. The condo was so comfortable and we especially enjoyed being able to prepare many of our own meals there, which was a real "money-saver". We often enjoyed breakfast on the lovely terrace and watched the sunset with a glass of wine there also. The panoramic view was spectacular! For those who choose to eat out, there is a nice restaurant on-site which is very convenient. Every day we would hop on the bus (7.5 pesos, very cheap). It runs continuously right in front of the property, so getting around couldn't be simpler. I can't imagine staying anywhere else in Cancun and I will be recommending Nancy and Larry's condo to family and friends.
We rented this place for 5 nights. We arrived late but we didn't have any problem getting in based on the instructions provided by the owner. Condo was very clean and well kept. Nice and pleasant interior decorations and furniture arrangement. Kitchen had everything we needed for cooking and cleaning. We really enjoyed beautiful ocean and pool view from the balcony and lagoon view from the terrace. Overall building facility seems little older and simple but maintained well. Wifi in the unit worked well and property management staff were available just few units away during the day. Adequate parking for our car but also easily accessible by bus.
My husband and I spent a wonderful week at this condo. We were a little reluctant to go to Cancun because of the huge resorts located there and the high density of tourists in the hotel zone. We were not interested in an all inclusive and so chose this place for a week of relaxation. It is fantastic. The unit we stayed in is beautifully maintained and decorated. The king size bed was very comfortable and the kitchen is very well equipped for making meals. The bathroom is spacious and beautifully tiled.
Everything in the unit is of high quality and you can tell there is pride of ownership. The unit is very clean. There is a small balcony on the ocean side, looking out to the pool and beach. On the other side, there is a lovely, spacious deck overlooking the lagoon. The deck has a barbecue and table for eating out and enjoying sunsets.
We had the pleasure of meeting the owners while we were there and they were great in terms of giving advice on where to go for groceries, how to rent a car, good restaurants to try out, etc.
The beach is spectacular and it is fun to bounce around in the waves in the beautiful, warm water. There are lounge chairs and palapas on the beach to provide some shade.
I am really grateful we were able to stay here and will happily return!
Funny, it seems I will be the first bad review. I came the week before Memorial day to celebrate my college graduation and birthday. The staff at the Solymar are not friendly to you if they learn that you are staying in the condos. This insinuates how bad of a relationship the owners have with the hotel staff. The condo however is beautiful. Everything is clean the view is great and it comes with everything you would need during your stay. I was unfortunately attacked and assaulted my second day of vacation and received no help from the hotel staff at all. Because I stayed in the condo I was of no concern to them. I went to talk with Nancy's assistant and she was absolutely no help because she could not speak a lick of English, so understanding her and having a conversation was a very tiring experience. My parents booked my flight back home on the third day. Nancy's other managers appeared that day and seemed to be a bit more helpful in letting me and my friend communicate with our parents, however they sat and asked us to explain our story as if we had not already been through enough trauma. I did so in hopes that we would be getting some type of refund back but they said nothing of the sort. I emailed Nancy a couple weeks later asking for any accommodations she could possibly give me for my traumatic time and got no response. It has been a month since I sent her an email and she did not even care to respond. She was very atentative when I booked the hotel so I can only assume that she decided not to respond because she is a money hungry heartless individual. I would never recommend booking with her.
For a few reasons:
1. As owner of the condos in the Solymar she has not established a good relationship with the the workers at the hotel.
2. The main secretary she has there does not speak ANY English only syllables and hand gestures.
3. She is obviously heartless and solely about making money. I should have at least gotten a response, especially since I was only there for 3 out of the 7 days I paid for. And I am almost certain there was something in the fine print which stated credit could be given on future bookings if for any reason there was a cancelation.
4. Also you would hope that the person you are renting from cares about the well-being of her guests while they stay in her establishment.
I DO NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE STAY HERE. YOU would be better off staying at an establishment with friendlier staff and owners.
I will start out by letting everyone know that I take reviews pretty seriously and I review for both bad and good experiences. For the price you almost think you will be staying in a dive but its quite the opposite. Very clean, comfortable and has everything you need including a fridge, stove, microwave, sink and all the utensils. The view is a lagoon view but it’s not bad at all and the poolside in my opinion isn’t worth the increased price. Nancy is a great host, she responds to questions right away and does a great job explaining on what to do, how to check in and so on. So friendly! The last thing you want when traveling to another country you are not used to is a host who makes things difficult for you. The Solymar is located about 5 or 10 minutes bus/taxi from the main drag so you are away from the hustle but still close enough if you want to get your party on. One of the things I LOVE about this place is it has a great beach. Its not super crowded like many of the Cancun beaches are. If you walk down the beach past the other resorts you will see what I mean. I was very happy with Nancy, property management and everyone else I came in to contact with! I would definitely stay here again!

Our family loved staying in the Cancun ocean front penthouse condo...it was clean and comfortable! The unit is large, and it has everything you need. The management staff were helpful and kind, and Nancy was quick to answer any questions. The Caribbean Sea was our highlight...the most beautiful blue and the most fun continual "wave pool" we have ever swam in! We enjoyed the location of Solymar...close enough to the action but far enough away for some quiet and relaxation. We hope to return to Cancun and stay at Solymar again some day!
This was our first time in Mexico and we chose Nancy and Larry’s condo at the Solymar. What are great choice! Nancy was great in providing us with all the pertinent information to allow our stay to be a wonderful experience. The condo had all the amenities that we needed. The hotel is dated but very clean. As well, the personnel were so friendly, cheerful and helpful. We always felt safe. We love swimming in the ocean and found the beach area clean and well maintained. There is a lifeguard on duty all day. We can't say enough about the local bus service. It was inexpensive, reliable and provided easy acces to all the local attractions.
We had a view of the ocean from our balcony to experience the sunrises and a nice patio where we watched the sunsets. I would definitely rent this unit again. Thank Nancy and Larry in making our first visit to Cancun memorable.

CANCELLATION POLICY:*Cancellation Policy: If your reservation is canceled 61 days or more before occupancy, a cancellation fee of 100.00 USD will assessed. This charge includes mailing your refund (when the deposit was paid cash). However we offer the possibility to use your deposit towards another rental for a period of up to one year from the day the deposit or the credit card form was received without any penalty.
We book reservations about 1-3 months in advance, which makes it difficult to rent the condo if we get a cancellation with short notice, consequently, if your reservation is cancelled 60 days or less before occupancy, we are sorry but you will loose the deposit.
Hurricane Insurance: If because of a hurricane or a tropical storm, you are unable to come, we will allow you to re-schedule your rental for up to a year after this event without any penalties.
up to 91 days prior to arrival date 40% of the 50% deposit cancellation fee will be charged,
- between 30 - 90 days, 50% cancellation fee of the deposit fee will be charged.
- between 15 - 30 days, 70% cancellation fee of the deposit will be charged.
- between 1-14 days, no refunds will be issued.
- 50% deposit is required to secure the dates, payment in full is required 14 days prior to arrival date.
Minimum stay is 3 days.
