Wonderful!

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful in the fall! The house is very comfortable and nicely designed. The outdoor hot tub and , the fireplace made it even more comfortable and attractive. The adjacent golf court served as a sort of extension to the property, especially beautiful in the bright fall foliage colors.

Perfect Cozy Getaway

  • 5 of 5

My family and I have stayed here twice now and already can't wait to go back. This home is so warm and cozy, perfect for a stay during ski season or fall foliage, when we have come. My dad and I love having the golf course right in the back yard, and the fireplace is perfect to gather around on a cold night. Great place to make memories with friends or family.

Great Spot and Well-designed House

  • 5 of 5

We spent a month at this property and it had everything we needed. The listing doesn't include pictures of the kitchen and bedrooms so I wondered a little. The kitchen is spacious and well appointed with things (such as a toaster oven) that aren't in the listing. Lots of dishes, platters, bowls, and glasses--all of a quality and aesthetic that make them nice to use. Lots of windows with great light. Bedrooms fine. (A previous reviewer mentioned there wasn't enough light for reading in the downstairs bedroom. We didn't use both bedrooms upstairs so we just moved a small table and light down and then put it all back at the end of our stay.) Outside deck is a dream with a nice table and four comfortable chairs for hanging out. The owner provides excellent directions for finding the property and the roads (the last ~1.5 miles are dirt and stone) are good. Because the house is part-way up Haystack Mountain, it is cooler by about 5 degrees than Wilmington and about 10 degrees cooler than Brattleboro. During hot summer weather this is a bonus, and the house has 5 ceiling fans which help circulate the clean, low-humidity air that Vermont is known for. As is described, this house sits right next to the 3rd tee of a golf course. This didn't seem intrusive and was actually fun to watch. The only downside is that they manicure the grass at 6 AM; light sleepers might bring ear plugs during the golfing season. A bonus is that the local residents sometimes walk on the golf course in the late evening; the paths are great and the views are stunning. There is so much to do within less than an hour and it was nice to come home to such a well-thought-out and comfy spot. The owners were very responsive and made everything easy.

A perfect weekend away

  • 5 of 5

A cabin in the woods sitting right on a golf course and about a three minute drive away from a gorgeous Vermont village and five minutes (in the other direction) from a lake with great outdoor activities? This was the perfect spot for a long weekend getaway and wonderful place to spend time indoors as well -- the grill and the hot tub were icing on the cake after a long day outside. Loved our time at the Smith cabin and looking forward to finding an excuse to go back!
