Romantic, rustic hideaway in a true 'oasis in the desert'. Los Terrones Adobe Casitas is located on historic Guadalupe Trail in the Village of Los Ranchos. Authentic adobe construction with exposed vigas (beams) and brick floors throughout, a huge picture window on the east side offers plenty of morning light and views out to the wildflower meadow.
The larger bedroom has a queen-size memory foam bed, desk, nightstand. The second bedroom has 2 twin bunk beds, a nightstand, and wardrobe. There is a rollaway bed for an extra guest, and a crib that can be set up for infants. The small kitchen is comfortable and completely equipped. The bathroom has a shower and authentic Talavera hand-painted sink. Authentic southwest decor and old world charm prevail throughout. Please be aware that our casita was built in the 1870s, and as a result, the doorframes are lower than those in modern constructions. On the west side of the property is a private, fenced yard with table, chairs, and a gas grill surrounded by trees and bordering Guadalupe Trail.
This casita is located on 6.5 acres of North Valley landscape, canopied by huge 100 year old cottonwood trees in a semi-rural environment called Los Terrones, in the Village of Los Ranchos. Peaceful and quiet yet conveniently close to the freeway, this property provides easy access to all parts of Albuquerque and surrounding areas. Perfectly situated for balloonists, the Balloon Fiesta Park is only 5 minutes to the northeast. We are only 15 minutes from the airport, 1 mile to the Railrunner train stop, and 45 minutes by car to Santa Fe. Old Town Albuquerque and the Aquarium/ Bio park are just a short drive south down Rio Grande Blvd. Bike paths, a health food store and the “antique mile” along 4th Street are within walking distance, and it's a short drive to Casa Rondena Winery and large shopping malls across the Rio Grande.

About Ryan Bromberg
We are a family of native New Mexicans with deep roots in the Rio Grande Valley.
Ryan Bromberg purchased this House in 1985
Why Ryan Bromberg chose Alamedan Valley
Casita Chueca (crooked house) is situated on a lovely compound in Albuquerque's North Valley. It is a piece of paradise, a semi-rural setting hidden within a metropolitan area which makes it close to nature but also close to all the conveniences of the city.
What makes this House unique
We love the easy access to all parts of Albuquerque and New Mexico while enjoying the tranquil, green, natural environment and historic ambiance. The trip to Santa Fe, which we enjoy visiting often, is very short, whether by car or the Railrunner train.

This adobe casita is classic New Mexico, nestled into an old neighborhood in the North Valley. We arrived just before Christmas to find a decorated live tree and lights! The casita is small but ample for four adults and a child, with a well-stocked kitchen, tv, and wifi. Though the evenings were cold the radiant heat under the tile floors kept us quite warm. There a large open space outside filled with beautiful cranes and a play structure which our toddler grandchild enjoyed (plus a school playground next door). From this location you are very close to Los Poblanos lavender farm, wineries, antique malls, and the Balloon Park. Definitely a memorable stay!
great location and fun house
Super close to balloon fiesta (we saw the actual balloon that is in this picture on the VRBO listing). Comfortable and well maintained.
Perfect for Balloon Fiesta and Railrunner
5 miles away from Balloon Fiesta. $8-11 for Uber. Walk thru the gate to side road to make pickup easier. Actually pulls up the house address on other side automatically. Never waited more than 8 minutes. Cute little place that is authentic New Mexico which is exactly what we wanted. 1.5 miles from Railrunner. Took great trip to Santa Fe from there. Place was clean and well stocked. Other reviews talked about the shower. We are 5' and 5'8" and it was extremely difficult. Not so much the shower size, but the shower head location is what made it so difficult. We don't complain over our small RV showers but this one challenged us. Make sure to get a unit number from owner.
Cute and cozy casita!
The casita was a perfect size for us and Ryan was always accessible to answer any questions we had. The property had a awesome patio and grill as well as all the amenities we needed.
Nice little house close to Balloon Festival and everything else
The staff is super helpful and quick to fix any issues ( the internet wire came loose). The house is clean, beautiful and wonderful EXCEPT for the shower. The shower is tiny, if you weigh more than 250lbs you won't fit in it and two people will not fit in it at the same time unless they are both children. The shower head sprays water everywhere and it's impossible to get out of the water without getting out of the shower itself.
Other than that, everything is perfect. Location is amazing, anything you can find or think of to do is close by. Driving out to Sky City and other day trips is easy. Close to gas stations, dollar store, and the Farm & Table local restaurant. Trader Joes and Starbucks is only 15 minute drive. If you're a Breaking Bad fan, google places used in the show and you will find that this house puts you within 10 miles of 50 places used in the show. If you don't get a welcome letter, ask for one because it explains the laundry facilities and lets you know there are 2 bikes for rent.
Kitchen has everything you could need and the bed is very comfortable. Lots of extra blankets. Will definitely return with our kids!
The property was quiet and safe, however it was not well maintained. The furniture was worn out, there were problems with the air conditioning which made it miserable in August, there were windows that did not open and some had no screens. The outside area was overgrown and we could not use the BBQ grill because it was being habituated by a large wasp nest. There were lots of cockroaches inside.
This property needs to be deep cleaned and upgraded with more comfortable furnishings. We were very disappointed.
Thank you for staying with us and for your comments and feedback. It sounds like your experience was not consistent with the level of service we normally provide. We discovered that our staff and former property manager neglected to maintain our standards and have since been replaced. We have addressed and remedied all of these issues and made improvements.
The historic and rustic qualities of our casitas imposes limitations on some modern amenities (HVAC and leak proof doors and windows for example). However, we work within our limitations and environment to provide clean, comfortable safe and quiet lodging in a unique setting. We apologize for your inconveniences and invite you to try us out again in the future.
Close to historic sites and monuments such as Historic Old Town, Coronado State Monument, and Petroglyph National Monument, Santa Fe is a 45 minute drive or (slightly longer) train ride away. The Sandia and Manzano mountains are within 30 minutes' drive.
