The Purple Thistle Cabin is a small rustic cabin, approximately 860 sq ft., nestled in country seclusion. Imagine yourself enjoying the sights and sounds of nature. The Mourning Dove call…The cows mooing in the distance? A baby calf suckling its mama? Turkeys drinking at the tank. It is often said, the cabin gives inspiration while nourishing ones soul. The Purple Thistle cabin provides a peaceful place for writing and book reading, pond fishing or napping. The small town of Jacksboro is a short drive (quick 5 min.) and Fort Richardson State Park is approximately 2 miles. The State Park has a 10 mile trail around Lake Jacksboro which is a favorite for cyclists, hikers, and kayakers alike.
The cabin, which is non-smoking, is located on a working ranch property and does have a gated private entrance. The cabin is located approximately 300 yards off a major highway. Guests must have reservations to enter.
Please Note: The Cabin is a 24-7-365 Non-Smoking “property.” We also do not allow pets or unregistered guests. A minimum of $300.00 will be accessed for smoking, pets, or guests not registered at booking. In addition, this property is not set up for construction crew lodging. If you are in the construction business please let us know as we may have other sites available which will better suit your needs. House rules prevail. They are posted within this site as well as within the house. Important to also note: Often a county-wide burn ban is in effect. When the County burn ban is in effect, campfires, outdoor cooking, and other potential fire hazards are prohibited.
