About this property

Family Home on Lake Bridgeport: Pets Welcome!

Dockside Dining Area | BBQ Ready | 5 Mi to North Side Marina

The hush of lapping water, the flick of a cast line, the churn of a boat on Lake Bridgeport — these are the sounds of lakeside living, and they're all yours at this Chico vacation rental. This 2-bedroom, 1-bath home makes fishing, boating, and swimming easy, with lake access and a private dock steps from the yard. Back on land, unwind with a book, play a game, or relax on the screened porch — no bugs, just views.

Enjoy a fully stocked kitchen, free WiFi, smart TV, and a screened‑in sleeping porch with additional beds. The backyard dock is ideal for swimming, fishing, kayaking, paddleboarding, and tying up your boat. Anglers love staying here for tournaments thanks to the easy on‑the‑water launch point.

Kids will enjoy the outdoor playground, toys, and games, while adults relax on the porch and waterfront seating with beautiful lake views and abundant wildlife. Grill out, host a fish fry, or prepare a crawfish boil.
This lake house is located in a quiet, scenic area just minutes from Chico and is 12 miles closer than the nearest hotel—perfect for visiting family. Whether you're here for fishing, boating, or simply relaxing, the Watson House offers a peaceful, comfortable, and family‑friendly lakeside retreat.

Note: Lake Bridgeport water levels vary. As of January 1, 2026, levels are average and still allow swimming and boating. Dock access for fishing is available, and public boat ramps are nearby.

I'm a citizen of the world. Growing up as a military brat, I attended 13 different schools in 12 years. I spent my first career in the USAF, living and traveling to dozens of countries. My second career as a Senior Executive for Siemens Wind Power I travelled the world and in retirement, the Wife and I travel 4-5 times per year. My time at home is spent fishing, boating, swimming, and bobbing when I'm not working as a volunteer Firefighter for our local Fire Department. We love the short-term rental concept, and this is our first attempt at it, using it to help my widowed Mother-in-Law to pay the taxes and maintenance on their lake house they built and lived life in for over 50 years.

Why they chose this property

I started coming to the property for my Wife's annual Family Reunion her parents hosted for 60+ years with 50 of them at this home. There would often be 150 people there for July 4th weekend each year, with many staying the entire week. Group dinners, potluck style, where all families brought their favorite dishes to feed the group. It is a rural area with the lake being the focal point in the spring and summer months. Boating, skiing, wakeboarding, wake surfing, kayaking, paddle boarding, swimming, floating, and general fun happen everywhere on this beautiful, clean body of water. There are over 11,000 acres of water so it's never truly crowded, even on holiday weekends. Fishing is king here with crappie, bass, catfish, and sand bass, all plentiful, and many people limit out daily. On weekends, you often smell fish fries going on in many yards, crawfish and shrimp boils, and since this is Texas, brisket and ribs in the smoker. You can be invited to join the party if you look hungry enough, so start working on your hungry face now. On holiday weekends, live band music floats across the water, and families splash and play up and down the cove. Activites which are truly the sounds of summer. While water activities may be limited to fishing, it is beautiful in the fall; only the sound of leaves falling breaks the silence. Watching the geese returning North and hearing them "honk" their goodbyes as they go, is something most people never experience. In the early morning, you can sit on the screened-in porch and watch the deer feeding and drinking from the lake behind the house and around the neighborhood.

What makes this property unique

We have 3/4 acre of property, right on the lake, only a few steps away. No long steep walkways or climbing stairs to the water. The sand playground with swings and slides for the kids keeps them entertained while they are not swimming. Most rentals in this are for large parties over 12 people, with the prices as high as the number of people. We have more land, better water access, quieter location than they do while offering a comfortable, nice property for smaller groups of family and friends.
Since the nearest hotel is 25 miles away, it is perfect if you are visiting family or friends in the local area, especially over the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. We happily accept your beloved pets; keeping your family together is important even if they have four legs. We offer privacy over hotels, the ability to cook your meals, plenty of space to enjoy yourselves, and peace and quiet most properties out here do not have.
