The owner was very easy to get in touch with, and if there was an issue, he resolved it right away.We loved the location. The place had a lot of space, and we enjoyed the outdoor deck. The beds were comfortable and the bedroom air conditioners worked great.
We stayed in the main house of a duplex with multiple rental units. We did not hear the neighbors at all from the unit despite the fact that they were musicians and we could hear them rehearsing from outside. The owner Scott was a pleasure to talk with and was very helpful. The house is located durectly outside of the Chautauqua Institution's Elm Gate and the nearby shuttle stop - an outstanding value all around.
The location near Chautauqua Institution and the spacious porch were definite highlights of this rental. Unfortunately, several aspects of the home fell short. Some of the updates felt cheaply done, and there were maintenance concerns such as a broken living room ceiling fan, a bathroom window that wouldn’t close, mold on the tub caulk, and very noisy air conditioners that made sleeping difficult. In addition, the listing mentioned soap and shampoo, but these were not provided. Dishwasher detergent was also missing despite contacting the host. These oversights made the stay less convenient than expected. While the property’s location and porch are strong positives, guests should be aware that the house would benefit from more thorough maintenance and attention to detail.

Ceiling fan referenced had failed the week before this guest check-in and was located on a 25-ft high vaulted ceiling no way to replace in a 4-Hour turnaround window.
As this house is a rental we focus on quality but not super expensive fixtures and upgrades to balance the substantially lower rent that we charge compared to other similar accommodations in or near the institution, as previous feedback has emphasized the desire for value over higher end amenities.
This is a home built in the '60s with baseboard boiler heat common with that era and thus no ductwork, with reference in the listing to no Central AC window and floor units only. Thus the reference to noisy ACs is simply a reality of this fact and the resulting choice to have some AC over none.
Lack of soap in the bathrooms was an oversight by cleaners who were replaced at the end of the season for for tendency to miss such things apologies offered!
We feel very confident in the relative value of this property at a third to a half less than similar properties!

We've been! coming to Chautauqua for 30 years and have owned this house for almost 20! We live most of the year in Denver but love our time in western NY in the summer! And we love other guests to be able to do the same
