Cliff House: Unique, contemporary villa with guesthouse, breathtaking sea views

"Cliff House" is a very special vacation home, exuding a light and airy feel that will appeal to even the most discerning travelers. Designed with style, elegance and countless contemporary touches, vacationers seeking tranquility and relaxation - while not wanting to sacrifice comfort and coziness - will especially appreciate this amazing property. Situated on the south coast of Pelion (often also referred to as "Pilio") near the hamlet of Afelianes, and framed by a dramatic rock formation, our villa provides unparalleled privacy and stunning 180 degree sea views. At the same time, "Cliff House" is only 5 minutes by car from the nearest public beach and 10 minutes away from Platanias, a picturesque fishing village with lauded tavernas and two small markets for groceries and basic supplies. A steep 15 minute hike through serene olive groves (time varies depending on your physical condition) will take you down to a small, secluded beach with crystal-clear waters, which is otherwise only accessible by boat.

"Cliff House" offers a private master suite with a spacious bedroom / dressing area and bathroom, as well as a large open kitchen/living room. An open-concept loft on split levels is currently set up as an extra bedroom plus inspiring workspace/lounge area with a balcony overlooking turquoise Aegean waters. Also, most windows are equipped with pull down mosquito screens, providing a welcome insect-free cross-draft on those warm, lazy summer days. Air condition units provide cooling or heating when necessary. Outside, three paver clad terraces at different levels offer sun or shade at any hour of the day, and a cold outdoor shower guarantees refreshment after a day on one of the nearby beaches.

If you travel with another couple or grown-up kids, additional sleeping quarters are available in a separate, rustic wooden guest cottage up the hill. Set back approximately 40 meters (120 feet) from the main house, the cottage offers two small bedrooms, a bathroom and a well equipped, small kitchenette, sleeping up to four guests (ideal for up to two children and two adults, but may be somewhat tight for four adults). It also has a small terrace with gorgeous sea views and provides equal amounts of privacy due to it its distance from the main house. If you desire to also rent the guesthouse, 20 Euro per person/night will automatically be added to the rental price for guests number 5 up to the maximum of 8 total. (The villa offers generous 145 m2, the guesthouse another 25 m2 of living space). If you reserve the villa only, the guesthouse will remain locked and not be rented out separately to ensure undisturbed privacy.

"Cliff House" is accessible via a 150 meter-long gravel road, which is easy to negotiate, even with a basic rental car. Parking for several vehicles is readily available by the house.

Away from mass tourism, South Pelion is known for its pristine nature, beautiful beaches, authentic fishing villages and well maintained hiking trails through lush green hills and olive pastures. Upon arrival, you will find hiking maps as well as our own personal recommendations for trips and other activities in the region. Internet (with limited data, good enough for occasional internet surfing, email and Whatsapp phone calls, but not for video streaming or gaming), TV (Samsung flatscreen with generous selection of DVD movies in English and German but no regular TV reception), board games and a variety of books in English and German are also available.

Our dedicated property manager lives close by and speaks English, French, Greek and Italian. He will welcome you upon arrival and provide you with a short introduction to the house and grounds. In case of questions or problems, he is are available 24/7.

"Cliff House" was originally built in 1985 by a German dancer as a studio and then upgraded and re-envisioned in 2013 by a British architect. We bought the house in the fall of 2017. Until we are able to spend as much time there as we would like to, we are sharing it with like-minded individuals, who value the region's appeal and this incredible home as much as we do. After all, staying at "Cliff House" is an experience in beauty.

How to get there: Approximately 5 hours by car from Athens International Airport and about 4 hours by car from Thessaloniki International Airport via well-developed highways. During the summer season, numerous charter / budget airline flights are also available to Volos, reducing the travel time by car (from Volos airport to South Pelion) to only about 2 hours.

Disclaimer: As this property is built into the slope of a mountain, and due to the open design of the inner staircase, "Cliff House" is unfortunately not suitable for young children or for people with mobility problems - our apologies! Smoking, pets and parties or events are NOT permitted in the house. Please bring your own beauty products. Long term renters are always welcome!
