Here Are A Few Kind Words from Our Past Guests:
“Sweetest space! My girlfriends and I booked 3-West for a little weekend getaway; we loved everything about the unit! They literally thought of everything to make the stay so easy. This place was perfect! It is centrally located and within walking distance of just about anything you would want to do, and we even received an email/blog/newsletter with several suggestions–many of which we checked out and didn't disappoint! All of us had the best time and have plans to make this an annual thing!” –Jessica
"The entire place was beautiful but not over the top. It felt very much like home. Everything was in great condition; I have zero complaints. I feel like usually the beds in other rentals are horrendous. Not this one, they clearly spent money on them, and it paid off. We could walk to everything we needed. I will be returning." –Kelly
“We had a great stay at the Barn Burner! Great family gathering spaces inside, and the shared patio was a favorite for our group. Also, the location is perfect, as everything in town is walkable. We will be back!” –Brian
"We weren't sure about staying in town vs getting a cabin, but 3-West was perfect! We were within walking distance of any place we wanted to eat or shop, and we hit the IGA on the way into town to get food to grill on the rooftop patio, where we spent most of our time when we weren't out and about. Everything was exactly as described, and Kara was helpful and responsive. We'd stay here again, for sure!” –Samantha
"We had a girls’ weekend and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The location is in the heart of Nashville, and Kara goes above and beyond to provide everything you might need, from directions to toiletries to kitchen appliances, glasses, etc. The shared rooftop patio is very nice, and we made new friends with the others sharing the space. (The rooms were quiet even with the shared roof space). It’s a great, walkable location. I highly recommend you read Kara’s emails for more tips on making your way around Nashville. She helps make it a lovely experience!” –Ashley

About the host
Hosted by Kara Hammes
Hi - we're Kara and Clint, and we designed and built the Barn Burner from the ground up in 2020. We opened in November 2020 and have loved hosted hundreds of groups and thousands of guests since then.
We moved to Brown County in 2016 with our two daughters, looking for a slower pace and a life that felt a little like vacation every day, and we truly love this town we now call home.
I grew up taking two-week summer road trips with my family, and my mom was the one who made it all happen. Now I'm the mom, I'm the planner, and I get it - the person putting the trip together and planning everything doesn't always get to sit back and enjoy it.
So that's why we built the Barn Burner - we couldn't find a space that made group travel easy, so we made one. I answer every message myself, write a local travel blog called "Tanglewood Hideaway" to share the best of Brown County with others, and we'd love to host you soon!
Why they chose this property
The Barn Burner sits at the corner of Jefferson and Washington Streets in downtown Nashville, Indiana - a few blocks off the main strip, so you're not in the middle of the crowds, but everything is still an easy walk away: locally owned shops, art galleries, restaurants, coffee shops, and more. And you're less than five minutes from the Brown County State Park by car when you want to get out of town and explore the hills, trails, and views Brown County is known for.
What makes this property unique
3-West and 3-East are our two largest units, with three bedrooms and two full bathrooms each. They both sit on the second floor, with mirror-image layouts, and the rooftop patio is between them.
3-West is the colorful one - still light and airy, but more eclectic, with a vintage leather couch, three armchairs, and handpicked antique pieces throughout. The dining table seats ten, and a walk-out door leads straight onto the rooftop patio.
Book 3-West and 3-East together and you've got the whole second floor, with the rooftop patio right outside both doors.
