Why BEA chose Central Virginia

Having a total of 66 acres of woods and privacy is what inspired us to build Deer Ridge.

Besides being totally secluded, it is only minutes to Monticello, Ashlawn/Highland, Jefferson, Blenheim and Trump Wineries and 15 minutes to Charlottesville.

What makes this cabin unique

Careful planning has gone into every aspect of it's construction, from the actual setting of the cabin for the sunny kitchen/back porch mornings to the viewing of the setting sun from the front porch. Each stone in the chimney and fireplace have been handpicked, along with the sawmill cut boards on the walls to the individually wooden hand-pegged red oak floors. Rick and I have worked for the past to 2 years in order to bring Deer Ridge to life and are currently offering it for others to enjoy.

Located only minutes from local major Historic Sites, 3 Wineries and only 15 minutes to Charlottesville.

Perfect for a quick getaway, lodging for members of a wedding party for those celebrating at nearby Ash Lawn/Highland, a honeymoon/marriage retreat or just for a quiet family vacation.

Beautiful birthday weekend

  • 5 of 5

My best friend & I celebrated our 50th birthdays at Deer Ridge and it was wonderful. Property is private and beautiful. The cabin is cozy and clean. Monticello is nearby as are many other attractions. Bea is a terrific hostess and I highly recommend staying here.

Quaint cabin in the woods with a sense of tranquility

  • 5 of 5

My family enjoyed staying at this cabin while we attended the hunt races at James Madison's Montpelier. Not far from Charlottesville to get into town quickly, but far enough way to feel like you're in a piece of heaven. Bea is very easy to work with and a lovely hostess. I will definitely use this cabin, if available, for my next trip to the area.

Charming cottage in the woods

  • 4 of 5

Bea and Rick have created a beautiful oasis in the woods. Cottage is decorated with many antiques and loving details. Quiet, calm location, in the middle of wine country near Charlottesville. Size was perfect for a weekend away with my hubby. Clean and well-maintained. The bed was very comfortable (always a concern for me!) We were there to celebrate my husband's birthday, and Bea greeted us with cupcakes and a birthday card for my husband. Lovely home, lovely couple who run it. 4 1/2 stars really (I always find the 5 star rating system somewhat limiting!)

Loved Deer Ridge

  • 5 of 5

Had a very nice weekend at Deer Ridge a few weeks ago. It was away from the hustle and bustle of the city and we were able to spend a quiet and relaxing time here. The owner was very pleasant and welcoming when we first arrived and showed us around the place. The cabin itself had very nice accommodations and was furnished with nostalgic decor. Would definitely revisit this hidden gem!

Bea was a fantastic host and we loved the beautiful property.

Bea's cabin in the woods is very nice and well taken care of.

Using Google Maps GPS we were able to find the Cabin going off the address. It was a little tricky at night with the winding roads but it all turned out ok and look for the two big rocks at the end of the drive way. Bea waited up for us for our arrival and that was nice since the drive way is long and goes into the woods a little before clearing at the cabin. She even had some hot muffins for us which turned out to be great as we had not been able to get dinner on our trip there. The cabin is very spacious and accommodates two adults and two kids very easily. The kitchen has plenty of room in it and you can easily bring groceries back for meals. We wish we had time to explore the property a bit such as walking around but we were visiting our daughter at UVA and spent most of our time on campus. The main bed might be a little small if your over 6 foot tall. The cabin is fully decorated so you'll want to be careful on your visit. We peaked at the basement which the cabin has but didn't have any use for it. One thing that it could be beneficial for if ok with Bea would be to store bikes if you had them. The basement is pretty large in size with washer and dryer but unfinished and just a cement floor. The drive to UVA was 25 minutes and didn't seem that far away. Very close to Monticello and Carter's farm so it would be great in the fall months. We enjoyed our stay. One last note, with AT&T the cell service at the cabin was pretty spotty but GPS worked as soon as we go out to the road.

Amazing Cabin in the Woods

  • 5 of 5

If you are looking for a cozy, very private vacation rental then Deer Ridge Cabin is perfect. The setting is absolutely stunning and the Owner Bea has the true gift of hospitality. She welcomed us with homemade banana nut muffins and fresh eggs for the morning. The cabin is decorated so beautifully and the kitchen is well equipped. We had a very relaxing weekend and will be back for a longer stay.
