Hello Vacationer! Thank you for looking at our unit, TI103. This condo comes with many modern conveniences, some to include Wi-Fi high speed internet, Cable TV and flat screen TV’s. Our family has vacationed at Okaloosa Island for 30 years and seen some changes but the beach and atmosphere never seem to change, we love it here. The quaintness of Tropical Isle is unique; just what we like, quiet, family friendly and very close to the most gorgeous stretch of beach we have visited within the United States.
Television, surveys and magazines rate the Emerald Coast among the top ten in the world for its beautifully colored waters and sand as white as snow. The Gulfarium (dolphin show) and the Okaloosa Island fishing pier are only minutes. The nation's largest designer outlet mall is only twenty minutes away in Sandestin. The area has dozens of challenging golf courses, with spectacular views, just within a short drive?
The fishing boats leave Destin every morning and return home with huge catches that continue to make it 'the luckiest fishing village in the world.' The Gulf of Mexico offers fine bottom fishing, trolling and sport fishing, and many commercial boats operate year round with experienced captains. Charters are available for full and half day trips as well as extended trips. Everything from amber jack, grouper, snapper, king mackerel, cobia and bluefish to magnificent blue and white marlin and sailfish may be caught by the skilled fisherman. Other types of fishing available are surf fishing, fishing from bridges and piers, casting swirling nets for mullet or going after blue crab with traps or nets. All may be done in the Fort Walton Beach area. Excellent freshwater fishing is available.
The power-shoppers in the family will not be disappointed by this area's vast selection of malls and shopping areas. Take a day away from the sun and sand to experience a different breed of paradise amongst the trendy boutiques, factory outlets, specialty stores, and more. Whether you're looking for thrifty buys or pricey elegance, Florida can accommodate! The nation's largest designer outlet mall is only thirty minutes away in Sandestin. Spend some time perusing the unique, open air town center Destin Commons, stroll over to Santa Rosa Mall: 'The Emerald Coast's newly designed mall has all the current fashion looks in many dazzling stores. The Santa Rosa Mall offers over 100 specialty stores, the food court, two relaxing restaurants, a 10 screen movie theatre, and a specially designed carousel', or head out to Uptown Station for a fun outdoor shopping experience where they have something for everyone in 45 nationally and locally recognized shops!
Okaloosa Island has been a favorite beach resort for nearly a century and it remains a family favorite today. The pristine white sands and clear emerald waters are as beautiful today as they were one-hundred years ago when visitors stayed in town and took row boats across Santa Rosa Sound to Okaloosa Island and the beach. Today you can stay right on the beach and enjoy the many restaurants and nightlife the island offers. Just across Brooks Bridge is the city of Fort Walton Beach, where you can shop the quaint downtown district, visit the Indian Temple Mound, and ancient Native American temple mound and museum of artifacts, or take the Downtown Historical Walking Tour, a self-guided tour that begins when you pick up a brochure at the Chamber of Commerce. In Fort Walton Beach, you will find Eglin Air Force Base, one of the world's largest, and it's Air Force Armament Museum. Just seven miles away - a short scenic drive through a portion of Gulf Islands National Seashore - is Destin, where you'll find more shopping, restaurants and nightlife.
There so many reasons to choose the Gulf of Mexico as your next vacation hot spot. Aside from the most beautiful white sand you've ever seen. This area has great local attractions that the whole family will enjoy. Water parks like Big Kahunas for some serious fun in the sun and the Gulfarium to get a firsthand look at some of our local species. Along with the Silver Sands outlet Mall and the Destin Commons for all your shopping needs; it has it all! Not to mention some of the best seafood restaurants around.
My husband and I had an excellent stay here on our honeymoon! Plenty of space, a short walk from the beach and to a convenience store, quiet and quaint area. We will be returning in the future, for sure!
Well this is the second time we have stayed in this unit, again it was clean and well appointed, big screen TV's and high speed Wi-Fi internet. Great king size bed and a twin bed too. The unit is ground floor, short walk to the beach, 100 yards. Convenience store next door. The complex is small, quiet and just remodeled, just perfect for us. Pool was awesome too. I felt very safe and secure there
Had a great stay. Everything was as expected. Great value for the location.
Good things: near highway, near supermarket, near Destin, walking to beach, great door key lock
Bad things: loud A/C, no water access for cleaning feet( room is always sandy), bath room has some drainage problem , kitchen+dining area is too small for 5 people
I will recommend to my friends if the room rate 30% lower.
For this price, I expected at least better maintenance( bathroom drainage was the most concern) and loud A/C.
Thank you Bev for all your help in getting this finalized and answering all my questions. Arriving on a Saturday is super busy and with your help, super "easy". We love the key less entry and not having to wait for keys or return keys- so simple.
We arrived early enough to enjoy the beautiful beach and just relaxed to the waves and beautiful emerald waters - the sand is like snow and truly most incredible. Better than the pictures.
Although - the property was only two stories, we loved that - and could drive right up to our front door. No elevators or long lines, just very simple. Older building, but very well maintained. The bathroom was a little small, but we could tell there had been many up-grades to the property. The bed was super comfy and the kitchen had everything we needed to enjoy ourselves. Very clean.
The pool is close and very adequate, although, we prefer to spend our time on the gorgeous beach. Beach chairs were available and not too expensive, but, we wanted our toes in the sand. No beach view, but just steps away on a private boardwalk - so quick. We searched for a beach place that fit our budget and most of the high rises were out of our range,.
This was the perfect match, we love the little store next to us, fresh donuts with our coffee - while we watch the morning sunrise. Look so forward to a longer trip. Thanks Again! The Hollands
This was a decent budget/economy option. It was passably clean (floors were sandy upon our arrival but maybe that is unavoidable for a beach adjacent property?) and everything worked (except the vacuum cleaner, lol). The pool was super clean and the people were friendly and helpful. We stayed in a ground floor unit so we had to hear the upstairs guests stomping around very early and very late (midnight in the PM and 6AM) plus the next door unit was being remodeled at odd hours so rest was hard to come by. Plus there is a VERY bright light immediately outside the bedroom window that made it daylight-bright all night long. I ended up buying brown packing paper and taping it on the Window so we could get some sleep. The bathtub and shower are sub-standard size so I was glad it was just me and my daughters, my 6'2" large framed husband would not have comfortably fit. It's all a little old and a little kitschy/ugly, but it's so cheap, that as long as you aren't planning to spend much time aside from sleeping there, it's actually a pretty OK deal. The walk to the beach kinda sucks--it's not THAT far, but it is across hot asphalt and next to dumpsters with broken glass, so this is not the "barefoot for a week" kind of vacation place. But maybe this is just the way the Destin/Okaloosa area is? I found the majority of the area kind of shabby and "econo." The beaches were littered with cigarette butts and rednecks. You need to bring your own beach towels--weird for a "beach house" but whatever. And your own coffee filters (cone, FYI) and maybe a swifter if you don't care to walk around on sand inside. (Again, next to impossible to keep it out of the house.) Also, plan on washing your towels at the coin laundry on site. There were maybe 6 and for 3 girls visiting the beach a couple times a day and having to do "clean" stuff I n between, that meant we had to shower twice a day sometimes and wash towels every other day.
I'm sure for the low price this is a fabulous option. But we will be splurging for something a bit higher end and a bit more peaceful in the future. With maid service and fresh towels daily--and maybe a W/D in the unit? Just our preference. Most people will find this perfectly fine and my review insufferably snobby. Such is life.
