  • Guys Trip

"Excellent unit for adults, or even a couple of children. Mine was a guys trip, and I let a friend have the master and I took one of the bunks. As long as you are under 5'10" or so the bunk is more than long enough for you. I love that the bunk "hallway room" (lets call it that since it doesn't have a door) has its own full bathroom. Nice new appliances in the room. My only complaints were building related, not unit related. One complaint is that there is "no drinks of any kind, not even bottled water in the lazy river or within 4' of the pool". They were however lenient about drinks (no glass or uncovered containers) near the hot tub. This may not go for peak season, but spring seemed ok. The other complaint is that the spiral staircase to the roof is a little sketchy and this and a couple of other units have a bit of an uncomfortable rail gap space where the opening above the rail for the spiral staircase and the opening above the balcony meet and leave an opening that is a bit scary. I would hesitate to let my kids up there for this reason. I would think that they would maybe extend the balcony railings all the way up for this reason since you cant use that side of the balcony anyway b/c of the spiral staircase being in the way. Again these are comments on building design and in no way reflective of the unit or the owners. Also take advantage of being able to go to the Ramada resort pool with the grotto and swim up bar. That was very nice too."

  • Great house, great location

"We had a great stay at the Blue Mermaid. Barbie was extremely easy to contact and very responsive and accommodating as we were making our plans as well as during our stay. Comfortable bed, nice decor, and good location. Shower water pressure was good. Beautiful views! From every window you see the trees, so it feels like you are in a treehouse, and you can glimpse the water of both the Bay and the Gulf from the porches. Very private and quiet. It is about a five minute walk at a leisurely pace to the gorgeous, serene Gulf beach, and in mid-August we had the entire beach to ourselves most of the time. One thing I had been worried about was that this is a pet-friendly rental and I have asthma. Well, there was no odor and we did not see so much as a single dog hair. We never saw any bugs in the house, either, which in this part of the country is pretty much unheard of. The screened porch was a nice place to sit and rock in the mornings while we enjoyed our coffee. Bay access is just short drive down the road and we took our canoe out every day, seeing dolphin, sharks, sea turtles, stingrays, an alligator, and a huge variety of birds, fish, and shellfish. If you love nature this is a great place to visit!"
