A beautiful summertime retreat, our 'Summer Home' offers all the comforts of home in an incredible oceanfront setting!
The house was thoughtfully designed to take advantage of the magnificent scenery of Howe Bay with windows and sliding glass doors all along the front of the building. High vaulted ceilings and skylights provide an open, airy and illuminated summer living area.
The gourmet kitchen is built centrally around a large island and features a countertop gas cooking surface with side grill, built-in convection and microwave ovens as well as all other new Electrolux Icon appliances. Fully equipped with Island made Paderno cookware, chefs and cooks will find all that they may wish for. The long dining room table seats many and provides a wide view of the ever changing tides.
For many of our guests, the large screened-in porch is the ultimate summer room: breakfast or lunch with a view and lazy afternoons reading or napping on comfortable day beds while enjoying the sounds of the sea and lovely ocean breeze... (Sun lovers may prefer the tiered cedar decks with comfortable lounging chairs and outdoors dining/sitting area!)
Leave the cool porch and find seating elsewhere in the house: a bright front sitting room with a 12 feet wide patio-door and spectacular panoramic view, a quiet cozy evening area in front of the wood burning fireplace and a separate TV room with large plasma flat screen unit and home theater sound system. The upstairs bedrooms also have quiet corners with chairs and couches.
With five bedrooms (three queen size beds and two doubles + single pull out lazy boy couch) and four bathrooms (two of these en suite), the house will easily accommodate up to 11 -and more- people.
Plan to walk and explore the miles of deserted beaches and vast sand bars; venture out with the large canoe or two-men kayak at your disposition; dive into the deep water at the sandy point and try to swim against the current; or run over the sand and the shallows into the waves and the high surf... At the end of the day, sit around a lively bonfire under the stars and enjoy the very best of company!

The house was awesome. The only negative was it was hard to get to. It had everything we needed and wanted. Super comfortable and relaxing.
Beautiful home by the sea
This home was amazing and the owner was very kind and helpful. The views of the ocean were beautiful. The home was spacious with many personal touches and creative comfortable decorating. Being a gardener and orchid lover I really appreciated the live plants and orchids in the home. This property was much bigger than the two of us needed and would accommodate a much larger group very nicely. Being so large it was chilly when we arrived but we built a nice fire and relaxed under the handmaid throws and just enjoyed the views.
The home is beautiful and well-equipped. The view is amazing. Everything was as good or better than expectations for our group of 8 golfers
Wonderful - everything promised and more!
I don't often leave reviews because there are too often big disappointments. Not this time! This property was everything we hoped for and more. And the owners went out of their way to ensure our stay was memorable by offering ideas svc recommendations for our family. Amazing memories!
Howe Bay Summer Home
Wow! What more could be said!!! Every thing was perfect, from the beautiful home , that filled all our needs for a family wedding! To the grounds and view, seals included! Our family and extended family were totally in heaven! Directions to the shangrala were spot on, just trust what they say. To the Keeler Family thank you for making or special weekend perfect, and we hope to have the pleasure to visit again, it showed us as maritimers that there is other area's of PEI that we need to travel to! Cheers Larry
A piece of Paradise in PEI
What a wonderful property. Hard to say enough good things about our experience. We were 3 professional couples looking for a catch up fun getaway.
The Howe Bay Summer house exceeded our expectations. The house is right on the Bay which is awesome to watch the tide come and go and lots of sea birds. To add to the appeal there is no "light pollution" so you get a natural planetarium at night. The house is incredibly well equipped for cooking including the mandatory super sized lobster pot!
Also ,while it is an open main area, great for a group, there are plenty of private spots to hide away for work or just quiets time. The 3 decks are also a bonus.
The beds are all fitted with great linens and plenty of towels etc .
Anything you might need is close by in Souris including 2 grocery stores ,wine store etc.
Even though it is only 15 minutes away the house itself is very secluded. No noise st all!
Inn at Bay Fortune in 5 Kms away if you want a special night out.
Finally the owners are so great to deal with, very responsive and attentive to any need. The property clearly reflects their personalities and pride for all the work and thought they have put into this property for guests to enjoy. We will definitely return.
We are located on Howe Bay, along the north-eastern coastline of the island, 10 minutes from the small harbour town of Souris (bank, post-office, groceries, hardware store, pharmacy, hospital...) and 45 minutes from Charlottetown, the island's capital city. Some nearby attractions: Championship Golfing (Dundarave, The Links at CrowBush); Greenwich Dunes National Park... a long hike through gorgeous sand dunes and interpretive path; Basin Head Beach... a favorite hot spot for many of our summer guests; North Lake Harbour... home to the tuna fisheries and deep sea fishing expeditions; The East Point Lighthouse, still in use, the most easterly point on the island; Outdoors concerts of fiddle music or 'ceilidhs’; summer theater, blueberry picking, clamming, seal watching cruises, sea-kayaking, board paddling on the Fortune River, Confederation Trail biking... Other Activities: We fell in love with Howe Bay the moment we saw it! That was almost 20 years ago... All these many years later, we still marvel at the magnificent scenery of Howe Bay, forever changing and reappearing right in front of you... Plan to walk and explore the deserted beaches, clam flats and vast sandbars... At low tide, take the canoe over the deep water channel in the middle of the bay to the even greater expanse of sand bars across the way... Splash with your little ones into wonderful pools of water left behind by the tide over the sand and heated by the sun... Feel the undulating ridges of sand under your feet and run far over the shallow water and into the surf... Dive from the sandy point into the deep water of the channel and try swimming against the current or let it wash you over to the flats... Then, on a quiet evening, enjoy a lively bonfire while looking at the still waters of the bay! Golf: We are located within 20 minutes of these spectacular championship golf courses: Brudenell River Golf Course Dundarave Golf Course The Links at Crowbush Cove (Advanced bookings are recommended.)
