About The Owner

We are a family of five. Both full time working professionals. Our 3 children are grown. Our youngest will be beginning his senior year at LeMoyne College. We are feeling the recent 'Empty Nest' syndrome. It is going to take a little getting used to. We are very proud of their accomplishments so far!!

The Owner purchased this house in 2008

Why The Owner chose Finger Lakes

We owned a rental property on a lake previously, which we renovated, and sold. We wanted to find a waterfront home that we could eventually retire to, and fell in love with this place. It's spacious for our family, and for visitors from out of town.

What makes this house unique

We enjoy the quiet, relaxing feeling we get from the place. When we drive down the lane to the house, we feel like we are in the middle of nowhere, even though it is a short drive from our home. Almost immediately upon arriving at the house, we feel all of our worries and stress fall away from us. We love hanging out in the hammock with the soft sound of the river surrounding us, and at night enjoying a fire in the fire-pit by the water. Our children also like to fish and swim or explore the woods nearby.

Turning Stone Casino, Fingerlakes Wine Trail, Beaver Lake Nature Center, Bass Masters Tournament, Outdoor Summer Concert Amphitheater, The Great New York State Fair are all nearby.

Very relaxing place to stay, the nights are quiet.

Low vehicle traffic area with a gorgeous view of the canal. Osprey and ducks were some of the wildlife viewed from the property. Felt very comfortable and relaxed our complete stay.

Roomy and Beautiful View

  • 4 of 5

The property was very roomy, lots of open space which was great for our family gathering. The bedrooms are all a good size. The back patio area is very nice with a grill and a fire pit, which we really enjoyed. The view of the river was lovely. The water was pretty high when we were there so we didn't go swimming, but we brought our canoe and it was easy to get it in and out of the water and there are a couple beaches nearby. The proximity to Syracuse is great since there is a lot to do there on a rainy day. The owners were very responsive to questions and returned the damage deposit very, very quickly, which was nice.

The only downside was that the mattresses are extremely firm on most of the beds, so if you really don't like a hard bed I would recommend bringing something to cushion the mattress. Also, one room doesn't have air conditioning, but it does have a fan.

August Bville reunion

  • 5 of 5

My family met here in mid-August this year for a reunion after childhood years spent in Baldwinsville at my father's childhood home, which is now sold. He lived right on the Seneca River, and so having a house likewise on the river was a wonderful return to those summer days. The house was spacious and comfortable, and private; house well-stocked with linens, kitchen supplies etc. Appreciated the Adirondack chairs out back, as well as the patio grill and firepit. We had a wonderful week!

Winter came early

  • 4 of 5

We just got home and our stay this past week was so relaxing and beautiful, our daughter got to see snow for the first time. When we arrived the house was in order and nice and warm. Got to see family and just get away. Love this place and hope to come back this summer. Only giving it four stars due to the beds are extra firm.

Nice rental house for vacation

  • 4 of 5

We stayed here for a long weekend at the end of August. The house is on a secluded drive and right on the river. We were visiting family and it was the perfect location for everyone to meet and hang out. There is lots of outdoor seating, a grill, a firepit, a dock, and a big backyard. Our dog really enjoyed all the space! We borrowed kayaks from friends and I would recommend doing that if you can. The bedrooms were great, there were AC units in two out of the three but it was cool enough at night that we didn't need them. The living room is very comfortable and the kitchen has all you need to cook/clean. Overall if was a great house and location. The only downside was that the river was kind of mucky so bring water shoes if you want to go into the river.

Old and dated but beautiful yard and patio on the river.

  • 3 of 5

The house and decor are old and dated. The house was adequate as far as cleaning. (Eg. In one side of double sink was a dish rack. When I removed it , the sink underneath had not been cleaned).

Only two bedrooms upstairs had window air conditioners. Fortunately there were ceiling fans. All the bedrooms are upstairs.

The main bathroom with tub/shower was downstairs. The 1/2 bath upstairs was small and the doorway was low--duck your head. There was no water pressure in the upstairs bathroom and the toilet was stained.

There was a fusball table which was well used.

We enjoyed the use of the patio table outside for all our meals over the weekend we spent here. It was lovely.

Because the property is on a bend in the river the water and water edge was very dirty and precluded going in. A few houses down there was a nice beach and the water looked good but it belonged to another house.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your feedback. The house was built in the 1950's. It has the of the charm and feel of a cottage on the river. ( I do apologize for the sink being dirty, I don't know how I overlooked that.) I assure you, the linens are clean, the floors are mopped and the bathrooms are scrubbed and sanitized between guests. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. We are very happy you enjoyed your stay.
