Why George Tanley chose Sevierville

Although I come from the Rockies in Canada, the Smoky Mountains have a special unique magic. The Honeymoon Hideaway, with its large rare level lot with campfire area is gorgeous year round. We love the rock woodburning fireplace and heart-shaped indoor jacuzzi tub. The covered deck with the new hot tub and patio furniture means we can enjoy every season in comfort. We are so happy to spend time in this year-round wonderland and want to share our second home with special guests.

What makes this cabin unique

Our unique, beautiful location is preferred by those that know the mountains. The beauty, peace and unique features of this area are a true jewel. For activity, Dollywood, Dixie Stampede, horseback riding, hiking, outlet malls, Pigeon Forge attractions and all of Gatlinburg is so very close to our private, romantic, fully equipped cabin. It's the perfect getaway for all.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We have spent a wonderful week here-away from the hustle and bustle of the world but so close to Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg~ The cabin is very pleasant and comfortable and we loved the hot tub! It was great to get out and walk all over the mountaintop. You can walk for hours. We will be back to stay here and look forward to another special getaway.

Fun Times, Great Memories

  • 5 of 5

Had a great time at the Hideaway Cabin. Convenient location between Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg (15 min to either). Really enjoyed the hot tub after hiking in the mountains. It was one of the only cabins with a flat, nice sized lot which made it nice for throwing the baseball around with the family or walking the pooch.

Fun times

The Hideaway was a great mountain cabin for all the family. Everything was very clean, the showers were great, the beds comfortable and the cabin had everything we needed for our January stay.

We loved the fireplace and hot tub!.

We are all going to come back in the summer to enjoy the outdoor campfire and BBQ and stay longer!...

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for your comments, Leo. Our family and kids love the Honeymoon Hideaway for all those reasons! When you come in the Summer, you are only 6 miles from Dollywood and Splash Country or only 7 miles from Gatlinburg. You can see everything in the Great Smoky National Park, yet still have the privacy of the mountain cabin. with the wonderful campfire , BBQ, and level lot to enjoy. We welcome you back!

old, dated, poorly maintained and cheaply equipped.

  • 2 of 5

all and all the cabin is in bad shape ans is not suitable for renting.

we had to cancel the other couple who was suppose to join us because one of the shower is not usable.

There was a bad smell of mold all over and the sofa bad is not something you can let someone sleep on, not even kids. plus there were no linens provided for it, although it said so in the contract you sent me.

the cabin is old, dated, poorly maintained and cheaply equipped.

Owner's Response: When our guests receive both our personal cell numbers and a Guest Help Sheet, they are always asked to call us with any question or concern that they may have- at any time. The Guest Help sheet tells where the extra Hideabed foam and sheets are located. The shower you reference as unusable was indeed in full working order as the guests (who checked in the day you checked out) told us! Yes, the mountain hard water does leave a small stain if left dripping but again, had you called, we could have explained that fact. Had you called, our plumber or cleaning staff would have been there within the hour to check any issues for you. If indeed you took it upon yourself to cancel someone who was to have helped you with the cabin rental, that was both unnecessary and unfortunate. It may, however, explain why you wanted us to refund what would have been their portion? We had hoped you would have mentioned the new floors, beautiful expanded master suite, new hot tub, quality mattresses with memory foam, fully equipped kitchen, new washer dryer, decks and the lighted Holiday decor throughout- with a gift from "Santa" for your family under the tree!. You stayed the full 5 days- without contacting us about any concerns except for wet wood (yes, it did rain in the mountains). Although Christmas can be a stressful family time, the guests that came in to stay -the very day you left- told us that all was working well, and they enjoyed the cabin with all its features very much. They have been asked to write a review and we look forward to their comments about our Honeymoon Hideaway! We wish you the best in 2016!

Half of cabin was really nice and the other half needs to be updated ...

  • 3 of 5

We spent our family vacation in this cabin from June 13th thru the 19th (2015). We are a family of 5 with kids ranging in ages from 3 to 22. We chose this cabin because of the price and it being pet friendly. When we arrived there was dead bugs on the floors and it smelled like it needed aired out. Maybe there had been some time between when we arrive and the last renters had stayed ... not sure. Out of habit we took our sandals off and after walking around for a bit noticed our feet were black on the bottoms. I had to make a trip to Wal-Mart to buy some cleaning supplies (because there was none) so I could feel more comfortable staying here. That took a couple hours out of our vacation time to sweep and mop all the floors. We thought that a yard would be great for the kids and dogs but it had lots of dips, holes, poison ivy, poison oak, and was unkept (lots of dead leaves). I had to spend over 2 hours at a local urgent care while on vacation because I got poison ivy from the dogs being in the yard. Half of the cabin is old and they have built a nice master bedroom suite onto the other half. The washer and dryer are in what would be the master closet but there is no light near it so it's hard to see what you're doing. While doing the laundry we flushed the toilet in the old bathroom and it overflowed. Every day we killed at least 20 centipedes crawling on the floor. Since this was out first time staying in a cabin in the mountains maybe bugs in the house is normal ... not sure. The kitchen, original bathroom, and original bedroom really really need to be updated. The addition to the deck with the hot tub, the master bedroom suite, and the updated living room are all really nice. It would also have been really nice if the cabin had had Wifi. We didn't get to use the fire pit but might have if there had been some kind of seating around it. If renting this cabin for more than a night or two make sure to take extra of the following - toilet paper, paper towels, laundry detergent, and dryer sheets. We didn't cook here during our stay other than using the toaster for poptarts, the microwave to reheat pizza, and the coffee maker to make coffee. Over all we had a nice vacation just could have done without having to clean the floors and having to make a trip to the urgent care.

Owner's Response: Thank you, Gwen for your review. I understand this was your very first trip to the mountains. As a courtesy to our guests, we send a Guest Help Sheet, to help to prepare them to fully enjoy the mountain cabin experience. Upon registration, you were given our direct phone number to call 24 hours a day if there was any issue or if you needed any kind of help. When you did call, you refused to allow our cleaners and quality control people in the cabin to investigate and correct! Another call from you and yet again you would not allow us to send someone to address your perceived problem. Yes, our pest control company is busy this time of year taking care of our cabins, yes there is poison ivy and the large, lovely level lot which families and dogs enjoy has a dip or two. Its not a city park- you are in the mountains! Gwen, we cannot help it if you do not read what is courteously provided all our guests, you fail to call us, or if you reject multiple offers of guidance and help. We have done all that can be done and we regret that our sincere efforts were repeatedly rejected. Many of our guests return year after year and I know they will look at your review in amazement. We certainly did!

Snug as a bug

This Cabin was probably one of the most cozy cabins I've stayed in. Perfect for relaxing getaways and romantic trips. The location is great too, easy access to gatlinburg and pigeon forge so there will never be a dull moment if you decide to leave.

Cute cottage but average for the area

  • 3 of 5

This is a quaint little cottage near the top of a ridge close to Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. As described, it sits on a nice fairly flat lot unlike most of the surrounding cabins in the area. The property has has some recent renovations that certainly improve the condition of the cabin but still leave room for improvement. Like many rentals, this cabin has most of the necessities for enjoying a great time in the Smokies. A small well stocked kitchen, a new master bathroom, very comfortable beds, a really nice (yet smallish) new hot tub on what must be a very recent deck and super nice owners. I booked a last minute getaway for my young son and myself to enjoy the fall colors and we were not disappointed. The drive up to the property is via some twisty narrow roads but they are well maintained. We arrived after an early snow and the roads were fine but I'm glad I have a four wheel drive vehicle.

If you are looking for a nice quite getaway this could be your spot. We arrived to find a newer gas grill but the propane was empty from the last occupants. Called George up and by the time we got back from tourist activities it was ready to go, thanks George!! It has two new flatscreen TVs with basic Direct TV but no DVD or internet capabilities. We wanted to watch a movie one evening so we simply unplugged the hdmi cable and connected our laptop thus problem solved. (still no internet though)

Pros: Great beds, new hot tub, nice flat ground and a cool fire pit to enjoy the evenings outside. A real fireplace inside and tasteful decor. Super nice owners who are very responsive to any issues you might encounter. 6.5 to 7 out of a 10 rating for me. Still worth while getting up to such beautiful mountains.

Cons: Not the easiest place to find and expect some steep roads. The entrance to Sky Harbor will alarm you with some junk trucks sitting on adjacent property. Don't be alarmed the rest of the development is quite nice. It threw me off when I was following directions (thanks again George!!). Older cabin but with recent updates. Still has an older bathroom that needs new tub set. Rusty old pipes in the original part of the house so the water tastes like rust, bring bottled water if you are sensitive to water taste. Nothing terrible but it was noticeable.

Owner's Response: Pete, Thank you so much for the review of our Honeymoon Hideaway. Although the last 5 reviews have been 5 stars, I appreciate your comments. Yes, it is newly renovated has comfortable beds with memory foam, many extra amenities, new deck, hot tub (for 4 persons) and a lovely new master bedroom with ensuite bath. We always provide those thoughtful detailed directions to the cabin (GPS does not work) and yes, in the mountains there are curves and sometimes steep roads to get there. We also have a 2 wheel drive car and visit our Hideaway in every season. Those well maintained all paved roads that you experienced, even in the snow, are the norm for our area. We also wish our neighbor would clean up his junk trucks that are 3 miles from the cabin but thankfully he is not in our cabins neighborhoood ! The water to all cabins in our area is mountain mineral well water and we run the taps to clear any natural mineral deposits. I will add that fact to the Guest Help sheet that we send out, just in case someone is sensitive. As for DVD in the cabin, we shall put one in although other guests prefer to use the laptop as you did. Telephone internet is so common now and works so well for most guests (3-4G) that we don't have direct internet connection. Thanks so much for your comments, Pete and we look forward to seeing you again.
