About this property

Modern log home w/private dock, overlooking secluded cove; 5 bedrooms/3-baths.

Unplug with your family in our newly remodeled log cabin, overlooking a secluded cove on Tims Ford Lake. This spacious 5-bedroom/3-bathroom retreat features 2 full decks, beautifully decorated spaces, modern appliances, and a game room. Enjoy a swim, ride a kayak, or fish from our private dock. Nearby, you can hike, bike, or golf. For more adrenaline, rent jet skis or a boat nearby. When you’re done, tie them to our private dock and relax on one of our porch swings or enjoy dinner overlooking the lake.

THE SPACE
Our two-story log cabin, located in the Lost Creek area of Tims Ford Lake, sits on a quiet dead-end road, overlooking a peaceful cove. The private dock provides access to swimming and kayaking, included with your stay.

Although you can access the home through the front door, most of your outdoor time not spent on the lake will likely be spent on one of the two full decks overlooking the lake. We've provided cozy places to sit, swing, eat, and just enjoy nature and each other's company.

Walk inside our 2600 square foot getaway and you’ll see this storied, rustic log cabin has been transformed into modern elegance with LVP flooring, beautiful rugs, all-new furniture, modern appliances, and more.

The main floor gathering area is a combination of living room, dining room, and kitchen. You’ll enjoy the large windows of the dining area overlooking the lake, as well as the kitchen in all of its mom-approved glory including marble countertops, new cookware and silverware, a smart refrigerator, and a dishwasher, along with a Keurig coffee maker. The island with its six bar stools is a favorite gathering place for the kids. We love the cozy couches and matching recliner chairs—perfect for family talk time, listening to music wirelessly through our 50-watt portable speaker, or a movie on our 55" LG OLED TV.

Main floor sleeping accommodations include the “Lake Room” owners’ suite, with a king-size bed, gorgeous lake view, desk, a 43" Roku Smart TV, and beautiful attached private bathroom, as well as the "Little Waders” bunk room (also with a lake view) with full bathroom access directly across the hall.

If you stay a while (and we hope you do), you're more than welcome to use our brand-new washer and dryer in the utility room, which rounds out the main floor amenities.

To access the other 3 bedrooms, simply descend the elegant spiral staircase to the lower floor where you're first greeted by a 2nd living area, suitable for relaxed TV viewing on the 55" Roku Smart TV, game playing, listening to music through the downstairs 50-watt portable speaker, or just looking out towards the lake.

The "Bird Room” sleeps 4 (twin over full bunks with a pull-out trundle) and is adjacent to another full bathroom with double vanity and a beautiful rain shower.

Next up is the "Tree Room" featuring a soft queen-size bed and modern desk, followed by the 5th and final bedroom, the black & white themed "Paddle Room", a quaint and cozy space also sporting a queen-sized bed.

The downstairs futon and ottoman convert to beds that sleep up to 3, as needed, to accommodate a variety of guest configurations.

Last but not least, don't forget to check out the ping-pong table and tabletop arcade in the official game room. You and a friend can play over 60 games including Pac-Man, Space Invaders, Frogger, and Donkey Kong.

WINTER DRY LAKEBED EXPERIENCE
Our daughter and nephew recommend you visit us from November through March for our winter dry lakebed experience (or mostly dry) when the TVA's Tims Ford Dam slowly starts to dry up our portion of the lake. Kids (and even some adults) will love getting a little muddy and crossing to the other side of the lake where more adventure awaits. Afterward, cozy up to our firepit overlooking the lake. The exact dates of this experience vary slightly each year.

SWIMMING
The swimming season typically runs from late May-September. The water is typically 10-15 feet deep off of the dock during this season, but please wear a lifejacket at all times. Various adult and child sizes are provided, as well as two infant jackets.

KAYAKS
We provide 6 kayas for your enjoyment, including a mix of sit-in and sit-on. We also have a fun tandem one, to double your enjoyment.

LOST CREEK BOAT RAMP
For those of you bringing your own boat, Lost Creek Boat Ramp is just 10 minutes away by road and 2-3 minutes by boat (our cove is about 1 mile long). From this boat ramp, you will take a right to arrive at our home. Just be sure your boat will fit through the causeway tunnel. It's a tight squeeze, but fishing boats and some ski boats can make it through (may require some skilled driving though). As long as your boat can fit through the 9' 6" causeway, you should be ok. If not, no worries...you'll be able to enjoy your boat of any size all along the rest of Tims Ford Lake on the other side of the causeway.

Feel free to park your boat trailer here overnight, as the park is monitored Tims Ford State Park Rangers.

MARINAS
1. Lakeview Marina (1439 Tims Ford Dr, Winchester, TN 37398)-We recently rented a pontoon boat from here; it's just 11 miles away from our retreat, located inside Tims Ford State Park. They offer a large fleet of rental boats, premium non-ethanol fuel, a launch ramp, dock, quick eats, and an ice cream shop. You can also rent paddleboards, and kayaks (we have kayaks too). As I mentioned above, the pontoon boat wouldn't make it through the causeway, but fun was still had on the main part of the lake.

2. Tim's Ford Marina (175 Marina Lane, Winchester, TN 37398)-This is another option close by (10 miles away). They provide boat slips and pontoon boats as well. You may also park your boat trailer free. You can enter up until 10PM, with gates opening up again at 6AM.

WEATHER
Tennessee is a four-season state, with very warm summers and one or two snowfalls in winter.

WILDLIFE
Being in a secluded area of Tennessee, expect to spot some wildlife (including snakes). Depending on where you are, you may see bobcats, bears, red-and-gray foxes, coyotes, elk, deer, and snakes.

WIFI
While super high-speed wifi is not available in this remote location, you should be able to stream movies and music with no problem using our Viasat 2.4G internet service. You might experience problems when a storm hits and/or when you lose power, but a modem reset should do the trick.

BABY/TODDLER EQUIPMENT
A pack-n-play, highchair, and booster seat are provided as well as a sheet for the pack-n-play

FIREPIT
You'll love enjoying the firepit overlooking the lake. We provide four chairs, lighters, and a starter pack of firewood. Feel free to bring additional chairs. If you're feeling in the mood for s'mores, we also provide you with roasting sticks.

GRILL
You'll love using our new gas grill found on the front deck which also includes a side burner.

PEDAL BOAT
Until our dock is extended to include a boat slip, our pedal boat is not officially available. However, if you'd really like to use it and feel confident that you can lift it carefully in and out of the water, flip it over to drain water after use, and store it as you found it, then feel free to enjoy it during your stay.

FLOATING MAT
While this is primarily at the house for owner's use, we are happy to share this as well with guests who desire a more relaxed activity.

Long weekend Get away
My wife and I were looking for a place for friends and family to stay close to Lynchburg. This place is phenomenal, clean, modern and the owners are very service oriented. Gabriel answered all our questions, provided recommendations, very responsive. If you’re looking for a place to just hang out and do nothing or explore the nearby towns or play on the lake, this home is the place to choose.

It’s a ten!
The Owners of the property were wonderful! Answered all messages promptly and kindly! The home was immaculate and beautifully decorated. The property managers however were too aggressive with payment demands while we were deciding to extend our stay. Other than that we would stay again! Thank you!

About the host

Hosted by Gabriel Aviles

Host profile image
This retreat is owned by my wife and I, along with my brother and sister-in-law. We live in Franklin, Tennessee. Between the two couples, we have 5 children total including two teenage girls, one teenage boy (featured jumping off of our dock in one of the photos) and two younger "littles" as we call them (their images on part of the Lakehouse at Lost Creek logo).

Why they chose this property

We purchased this retreat in late 2022. We wanted a place by a lake, not too far from our home in Franklin, TN. We wanted something that our families and extended families could enjoy, but also offer it to new friends that would take care of it like their own.

What makes this property unique

The value of this retreat is that it's tucked away, but yet fairly easily accessible to restaurants, groceries, and other needs.. When you're there, you'll want to unplug and enjoy listening to the sounds of birds, squirrels, or fish in the lake. You'll want to sit on the swing and read a book. You'll want to cook a good meal and savor it with your loved ones. You'll want to play a game or watch a movie together. When you're wanting a bit more adventure, you'll want to kayak in the fairly private cove and bring out your jet skis or boat. Biking, hiking, and golf are not too far away.

Most of all, we think you'll love making family memories, away from the hustle and bustle.
