Lakehouse Heaven (with new hot tub!)

Bedrooms 4
Half Baths2
Space 2,250 sq ft
Property type house
Minimum Stay 3 - 7 nights

About the property

House, 4 Bedrooms + Loft + Den, 2 full baths plus 2 half baths, (Sleeps 9-12)

Have you had your fill of dowdy, musty rentals? Do you appreciate the aesthetics of a truly beautiful home with quality furnishings and all the amenities, in a gorgeous setting? Then you've come to the right place.

We fell in love with this stunning wooded, lakefront lot and worked with an architect to design a custom home that would do it justice. The result is this 4-bedroom, 3.5 bath home whose bedrooms ALL face the lake, and whose great room will instantly relax you -- it's that serene and beautiful, with its full wall of windows overlooking the pond.

Relax on the screen porch, on the patio, or on the master bedroom's balcony -- the views are glorious in every direction, no matter where you choose to hang out. Or jump off the private dock into the crisp, refreshing waters of our tranquil no-motorcraft pond. Three kayaks, a canoe and a floating dock with built-in sunbathing chaises are yours to enjoy. If you want your kids to make friends, just walk up the road to one of two sandy, shared neighborhood beaches, one of which has a basketball court.

Our home, dubbed 'Lakehouse Heaven,' is in Madison, just outside North Conway -- which offers all the restaurants you could ask for, plus tax-free shopping (take your pick: outlets, handcrafts, antiques, or all three), mini-golf, movies, summer stock theater, and nightlife. And better yet, we are right in the heart of the glorious White Mountains, offering hiking, biking, rock climbing, paddling, secluded swimming holes, plus numerous ski resorts offering summer fun in the form of mountain slides, zip lines, and more.

This house is well suited to sharing by two families, since 2 bedrooms are on the first floor and 2 are on the second, with custom-tiled bathrooms both upstairs and down. There are queen size beds in the upstairs master bedroom and in one of the downstairs bedrooms. The second downstairs bedroom has a pair of twin beds, and the final upstairs bedroom has a double bed plus a twin-size trundle. There is a daybed in the loft and a finished walkout basement with twin-size futon couch and twin-size LL Bean sleeper chair.

The loft also offers a comfortable desk, for those who need to get work done while on vacation. (The house comes with wi-fi.) The Master Bedroom boasts a private balcony with views of the pond and the hills beyond.

A full laundry room and walkout basement rec room add to the home's family-friendly appeal. The kitchen is a cook's dream, with high-end stainless appliances, the quietest Bosch dishwasher on the market, and a layout designed for multiple cooks. Or treat yourselves to dinner out, at a wide variety of nearby restaurants.

This house will not disappoint -- except when the time comes to leave!!

About Betsy Ginsberg

We've always loved the White Mountains, particularly the hiking and climbing. A few years ago, we decided to pursue our dream of owning a vacation home here. At first, we looked at existing houses but after visiting countless cramped, poorly laid out, depressing spaces, we opted to build from scratch. We worked with a terrific architect and masterful custom builders, resulting in a stunning, serene getaway - the lake house of our dreams. We are happy to share it with you; we are certain you will find it a magical place for a family vacation.

Betsy Ginsberg purchased this house in 2010

Why Betsy Ginsberg chose Eidelweiss Village

This location is absolutely brilliant! It's just a few miles from the eastern terminus of the Kankamaugus Highway, that phenomenal scenic drive that bisects the lower half of the White Mountains. Hiking trailheads abound on either side of the road, and the Swift River offers itself up as a summer playground. In winter, there's downhill skiing, X-C, snowshoe hikes, and ice skating. And if you're car-free you can easily get to this house by bus from the Boston area and Logan Airport, using the Concord Coach line. We're just a short taxi ride away from the Conway Village bus stop.

What makes this house unique

The call of the loons never fails to take our breath away... The swaying of the trees right outside the second-floor windows creates the feel of living in a tree house... The fire pit on the patio beckons, and we gather around in the evenings, roast s'mores and sing songs... On a rainy day, nothing beats doing a jigsaw puzzle while a cozy (gas) fire warms us in the stone fireplace... The cook top faces the living area -- how nice it is to chat with friends seated on the barstools, while you prepare the meal. This is the kitchen we've always dreamed of, lovely and logically laid out. Its multiple workstations lend themselves to multiple helpers... Or if you prefer, barbecue all your meals on the gas grill out on the patio.

Best family Lakehouse retreat EVER!!!

  • 5 of 5

Wow!!!! Let me begin by saying that this property exceeded our expectations, and our expectations were extremely high! We have been renting another Lakehouse for years, and the owners sold it, leaving us to start all over again in the search for the perfect Lakehouse experience! Have you ever found something online and it looks great, and when you arrive, it turns out to be... Well... Erm... Ghetto? Well, this property is everything BUT that! It is, in fact, magical!!! We had a large party of family who traveled from both coasts, and there was never a feeling of not having enough space! The bedrooms are lovely and not cramped or crowded. The kitchen and great room are truly the heart of this home! It's where all the action happens, from the well-equipped kitchen, to the great room and puzzle table (we had puzzles going every day and night), to the screened porch, to the doors off the great room which open to the wonderful deck, firepit and hot tub. There are two tables on the deck and plenty of chairs. We brought a lot of candles with us for evenings, but there are plenty of lights to illuminate your evenings outside. There is a laundry line installed next to the outdoor shower for wet suits and towels. Yes! Outdoor shower!!! Off the stone patio, there are a few steps and then a lovely, short, winding trail down to the dock and the lake. We recommend flip flops for this quick journey, because stepping on an occasional pebble never feels good, but mostly to cut down on dirt and debris from your feet being transferred to the patio and into the hot tub. We also brought a large Rubbermaid bin and filled it with fresh water every day and placed it in front of the hot tub as a foot wash before entering the hot tub. It really helps to keep it more clean. The outdoor shower also helps with keeping things neater--especially when traveling with a gaggle of kids! Near the dock is a small clearing with a bench. We actually brought a card table and some camp chairs from home, and installed them next to the bench, to create a second sitting area right by the dock. The kids spent a lot of time there playing cards and having snacks. The water is clean and beautiful. The rigid floating dock was a huge bonus and filled with happy people all day, every day. Bring extra coolers for ice and drinks. And pay attention to the dump schedule--there are NO alternatives:)

We are already planning to return next summer!!! Fantastic Lakehouse retreat!!!! Thanks, Betsy!!!

Peace and Serenity

  • 5 of 5

This was our second stay at this beautiful lake house! I believe that the owners truly want to share their little piece of Heaven with you when you rent this place! It is nestled in the woods perfectly placed on the pond and delivers nothing but peace and serenity. It is so relaxing to sit on the patio each morning with a book and coffee. Or, sit by the fire at night and watch the moon rise over the water. This house is large enough to enjoy 10 people and not feel you are in each others' space while you are there. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay the first time, so much, we decided to go back a second time this year and again it didn't disappoint! We can't wait to visit again!

Family Vacation

  • 4 of 5

Our family had a wonderful time. We had 10 people of all ages. The place was beautiful, we enjoyed fishing, swimming, kayaking, sitting in the hot tub and having campfires at night. The house was plenty big enough, and conveniently located to take some day trips. Our only complaint was there was no cable TV. Not a big issue, but something we weren't expecting. Other than that we had a great time and would rent the house again.

Summer Vacation!!

  • 5 of 5

My family of 4 (wife and 2 boys ages 12/9)stayed for a week in August with another family of 3 (daughter age 6). It was our first time vacationing in N.H. We also had visitors stay for a night or two as there was more than enough room. The house is absolutely beautiful!!..The kitchen is very modern and set up perfectly and is open to a huge living room area with a beautiful sitting area. There are several bedrooms as well as a huge finished rec room in the basement that the kids enjoyed. The first thing we did was drive to North Conway(10/15 minutes) and stock up on food for the week. There is also a small general store a couple minutes away that has pretty much anything you would need also. We ate every night outside on the screened in porch which was usually followed by lighting the fire pit on the stoned patio overlooking the lake. We all loved the lake and would swim and kayak daily. The house is a short drive to pretty much anything you want to do in the area. There is tons of different hiking trails, swimming holes, shopping..etc..pretty much anything you want to do is not to far away!! We all loved it and plan on coming back every summer. We have been away several times with our kids (Disney, tropical islands) and this was probably the best time they had. They can't wait to return. The pictures on the web site do not do the house justice!!! It is truly beautiful and whoever stays there will absolutely be hooked to come back!!

Summer Vactation

  • 5 of 5

We had a fantastic week at Lakehouse Heaven. We spent the week with another family and there was plenty of room for all 10 of us! We truly enjoyed the surroundings. We spend time on the Saco River and even climbed Mt. Washington! Great area for shopping in North Conway. The house had everything we needed! Fantastic time at the fire pit watching the stars and finding satellites streaming across the sky. We definitely will be back again! Thank you for sharing your beautiful house with us!

Beautiful, Peaceful, Family Friendly Vacation!!

  • 5 of 5

We have been repeat vacationers at this home for several years. Our family and another family meet here for the best, most relaxing vacation of the year. The house is gorgeous inside and has everything you could possibly need for a comfortable vacation from the equipped kitchen to the great room, rec room, and patio with fire pit and grill, it has it all. Kids and adults loved the jumpy float and fishing and kayaking around the pond as well as sighting and listening to the beautiful Loons that populate the pond. The location is wonderful as well, since our families can easily go hiking, shop in North Conway, and visiting local attractions. It is a place for making memories for sure!

Summer fun nearby includes hiking in the White Mountains, picnicking at waterfalls, tubing or kayaking on the lazy, lovely Saco river, 'adventure elements' (mountain coasters, alpine slides, and zip lines) at nearby ski resorts (Cranmore, Attitash), mountain biking, etc.

Power boat/waterskiing enthusiasts can put in at Madison's Silver Lake, just 3 miles from our house.
