Why Tom Mc Intosh chose Cheboygan
We fell in love with this place when we first entered the driveway. We knew this was the place we had been looking for, a quiet getaway to recharge our batteries. If you are looking for a quiet, secluded place to get away, renew, refresh, McIntosh Solitude Lodge is it. Nestled deep in the woods our log cabin offers all the comforts of home, off the beaten path. 113 stairs lead you down the hill to our private rock strewn beach and dock. Wildlife is abundant as deer, red fox, loons, bald eagles, and swan, call the lake and woods home. We are an easy drive to the ferry for Macinac Island and a short drive for groceries or a movie in Cheboygan.

Quiet, private, view
Three level log cabin with loft and basement. Highbank view of Lake Huron below. Wooded stairs down to shoreline. Nice hot tub outside. Long driveway. Private wooded setting. No other houses within view of house. Open floor plan. Upper and lower deck. Full kitchen with gas stove. Bottled water with cooler and hot water a plus.
Relaxing and quiet
I love the loft room, you can hear the waves at night. The updated fridge and range in the kitchen are great and I like that there are condiments and a few basics in the kitchen when you get there.
Kitchen and baths were quite clean, but the rest of the house could have done with a little more dusting.
Overall, we really enjoyed out stay.
House is very beautiful; there are tons of stairs so not for someone with weak knees. There was plenty of space for our group for all the groceries, counter space and bedding. Plenty to do on rainy days; and quiet time on front or back deck for great relaxation! Would stay here again!
Beautiful views! This cabin would be great to visit anytime of the year
Really enjoyed our time at the "Solitude Cabin." Place as described. Comfortable log cabin in the woods. Loved the view. We brought our boat and docked it at nearby marina. Discovered the beautiful, winding, tree-lined driveway doesn't allow for boats or trailers fyi. The other thing to know is the stairs going down to lake can be difficult or not possible for some people. Looking forward to visiting again.
We loved the views, fire pit, hot tub and all the puzzles!
Plenty of room for everyone. Great food all, pool table and Pac-Man! The grandkids were very happy
Very secluded and peaceful
Very secluded peaceful place to stay. Enjoyed canoeing, table tennis and Pac-Man! Was so nice to be able to hear the waves from the bedroom!! Very helpful that linens and paper goods are provided. Added bonus was the filtered water. I enjoy watching birds and seen my first pileated woodpecker!!!! 2 together very awesome experience. Was nice to have a gift waiting. Will definitely stay again.
Two topics.... #1 To secure time at the lodge FOR SURE, mail us a check for 1/2 the rental amt. right away, and we will email you the rental agreement, etc. This method is 98% effective. Second method: ask for a rental agreement BEFORE you send the check; we will send you one right away, you will get it, etc.
Topic #2 The area is a bit out of the way of heavily-traveled areas like Petoskey Harbor Springs, Mackinac Isl. etc., but we like it that way. The time it takes to get to those places gives you time to relax and enjoy the company that you are with, without time pressures that you get in the world every day, without let-up. PLACES: Boyne for skiing, many places(all Very beautiful) for golf, the Soo area for lock-watching,waterfalls, sand dunes, painted rocks boat rides, all are wonderful, our #1 memory was riding bikes the 8 mi. around Mackinac!..
Golf: Forget golf details for now... (there's some of the most beautiful courses in the entire US in upper Michigan)......back to finishing up the list of amenities... ~personalized gift basket on arrival, and...
~we are pet-friendly!
~Cedar hot tub with deck overlooking the lake, 5 person
~Olhausen billiards (pool) table with a regulation size ping-pong table top that fits on the pool table easily.
I tell people that the lodge is like a little 'Ritz-Carlton' in the woods, I may be exaggerating a touch, but not much.
AND... (Ahem!) Occasionally some guests get a front-row seat for the Northern Lights!
In the family room --- a ms Pacman & Galaga cocktail table in game room.
Fee Alert! a $75 cleaning fee is now in force.. no exceptions! No other fees except for the pet fees.
Ski: Best way to get time at the lodge is to send an earnest money check when you've decided to commit to a specific time. Whoever we get a check from first usually ends up getting to stay at the cabin! Best wishes, good luck!
