CAN YOU HELP ME UNDERSTAND THE U-SHAPED BUILDING AT WATERSCAPE?

Generally, units closer to the sand will cost more to rent, and will be further from parking. Please keep in mind the entire complex is located on the beach and every unit is a short walk to the ocean!

Waterscape is shaped like a U, this means only 12 units are directly parallel to the ocean without an angled view or distance of about 80-100 yards to the sand. The left side of the U is the A building, the bottom is the C building, and the right side is the B building. All of what makes Waterscape the best resort for kids in the Destin area are the pools that lie in the middle of the U.

Our A225 unit is located one unit from entrance to the interior hallway in the A building. Most units do not have access via an interior climate controlled hallway. This entrance is the closest location in the A building to the COVERED parking garage and back entrance to the splash pool. This means you can access pools, grills, and parking without getting on an elevator in less than 30 seconds. Our C300 and C306 units are located one level up, or effectively second floor as the pool is on the second level. You can park 25 feet from the front door of either unit. Access to the pools and our A225 unit from these two units is also extremely convenient. One can go down the elevator to the second level or take one flight of stairs.

If you want to see the pools and resort grounds, you should stay in the C building, or in even numbered units in the A or B building. If you want things quieter, the odd numbered units in A or B face the outside of the property. Nearly all the odd numbered units in A & B will have a narrow view or no view of the ocean between the buildings. The new hotel next to the A building has been completed and our A225 unit has no view of the ocean.

WHY DID WE CHOOSE THESE LOCATIONS AT WATERSCAPE?

My wife and I had young kids under the age of eight when we purchased our Waterscape units. We found over the years most our time was spent around the splash pool with the slide and the grills for cooking. We also found that we seem to bring half of our house with us on vacation. Being extremely close to the car and the splash pool area is a no brainer for convenience.

WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO RENT AN UPDATED UNIT?

Most of these units had one of a handful of furniture packages. The sofas, TV’s, bed frames, and carpet are the issue. We have had to replace all these items as they were either broken, disgusting, or too small in the case of TV’s.

WHY DO WE NOT INCLUDE BEACH CHAIR SET UP AT WATERSCAPE?

During the busy season guest, must arrive at 7:00 AM to even consider getting on the front row, because of the placement of the chairs. I find I can get closer to the beach without worrying with how early my day starts using my own chairs. Therefore, we provide our guest with four chairs and two umbrellas during their visit.

WHAT MAKES WATERSCAPE UNIQUE?

• Built in 2008, making it one of the newest condos built in the entire Destin area (most Destin condos are 80’s and 90’s projects)

• Courtyard design reminiscent of a five star Caribbean resort

• Four Pool Areas: One heated seasonally, one with zero entry access and waterfall, Lazy River, and pool designed for toddlers (fenced, covered pavilion play area, built in water toys, and a waterslide)

• Weber gas grills cleaned daily

• Two hot tubs

• Poolside Cafe run seasonally serving food and frozen drinks

• Weekly movie night in the pool and daily activities for the kids seasonally

• 490 feet of beach directly in front of complex

• Thoughtful beach entry area complete with four fresh water showers, two foot washing stations, one walkway with ramp if you can’t take steps, and shoe storage area on wooden railing (leave items at your own risk)

• State of the Art Fitness Center with Life Fitness equipment and LCD TV’s on cardio equipment

• Game Room off the Lobby

• Once you have groceries you don’t have to get in your car again

• 24-hour security

About Rick Angle

It was always my mom's dream to own a condo in Fort Walton Beach. My wife and I adopted this dream and were fortunate to make it come true. We were blessed to be able to purchase this unit during the downturn in the market. After seeing this could actually become a business for our family we purchased additional units Each year we improve on our ability to deliver a solid vacation experience for our guest. It is my sincere desire to be a small part of your families vacation memory making experience!

Rick Angle purchased this condo in 2010

Why Rick Angle chose Florida Main North West

This complex is a perfect family atmosphere and location to maximize time at the beach!

What makes this condo unique

My favorite aspect of Waterscape is the resort style pool area, convenience of never needing to get in the car after the first visit to the grocery store, or step foot on an elevator.

Fall Break

  • 4 of 5

My family of 5, along with my dad, stayed in this condo for fall break. This was our first experience staying at this complex. I will say that it was a way different experience than another facility we usually stay at. It definitely has a ton of pool activities for kids. It seemed super busy and I can't imagine how busy it would be during the summer. It definitely isn't a place if you are someone who has no children and is looking for a quiet place. My kids loved it but we prefer a more quiet setting. The beach was a little bit of a walk from this unit so be prepared. The unit itself was nice and spacious. They had several beach chairs, a few boogie boards and other sand toys so need to pack those. The bathrooms were huge and the extra 1/2 bath was a nice addition. I was a little bummed about the beds. My husband and I stayed in the master bed. It definitely isn't plush and I agree with another reviewer that the bedding was something you'd find in a cheap motel... scratchy, thin and weird. There was not a good supply of toilet paper or trash bags so we had to buy more. As stated in the description, there is construction directly out from the balcony. It starts early. It didn't bother us during the day because most of the time we were at the beach or pool. By evening time, they quit. My kids enjoyed the Xbox that is provided and the T.V. and solid door on the bunk room were nice additions. The parking garage is very close to this unit and made it nice for unloading and loading back up. Thank you.

Beautiful/comfortable condo with easy access to the pools and parking garage.

  • 5 of 5

My husband, myself and our almost 2 year old stayed in this condo for a week and we loved it. If you have children I highly suggest this unit, it has such EASY access to the pools and parking garage. We had a ton of stuff to unload and it took us no time since we were so close to the parking garage. There is construction right out side the balcony but you cannot hear any of it from inside the condo which is nice. This unit also has beach chairs, umbrellas, sand toys, boogie boards and crabbing nets..literally everything you would need for the beach! We booked the room because we came to Florida to get married, there is plenty of room for everything. Our hair stylists had plenty of room to set up and style 6 girls hair in the dinning room with no trouble at all. I will suggest to pack necessities like dish soap, sponges, trash bags, salt an pepper etc. Waterscape is also conventionality located to the boardwalk and pier you could even walk there if you wanted. We had an all around good stay.

Dirty and awful beds

  • 2 of 5

Our condo was nice enough, however, the floors were nasty when we first arrived. Which was frustrating because we didn't check in until almost 5 because they were "mopping" the floors... There is no way they did this because the floors were absolutely covered in sand. Also, in front of the fridge there were dirty gray spots on the floor in front of the fridge where something had spilled. I swept and cleaned as best I could. There were old, used coffee grounds left in the coffee maker. Also, the bathtub in our room was so disgusting. It was covered in a yellow greasy film. I called to see if they could send someone up to clean it, but being polite, I said if it would be easier they could just drop off cleaning products and I could do it myself if need be. She stated that the grease was probably just leftover cleaning residue. I said I didn't think so because it was so thick. She seemed skeptical. Instead of apologizing, she simply said they were busy and could drop me off cleaning supplies the next morning. I run a business myself, and would never have accepted a client to clean up a mess they didn't make themselves. I felt almost like a nuisance to her. On top of all of this, when I went to book this room, I read through some reviews. A previous vacationer had stated the beds were terrible. Legacy responded and apologized, stating they had replaced the beds after their complaint. They must not have. My husband and I slept ok, but upon removing the sheets at the end of the stay, the mattress had spots all over it and was pretty well worn in. My youngest daughter slept in the second bedroom. The king size bed in that room had such a dip in it that she slept terrible and rolled down into the dip. I slept with her a couple times, and slept terrible myself. All in all, I will never stay anywhere that Legacy manages ever again. I also would not recommend this condo or company to anyone. Spend your money on somewhere that appreciates your business, and gives a great quality stay! I am thoroughly disappointed, and happy to be back home to a clean place.

Owner's Response: FUTURE GUEST: We operate 5 units on Fort Walton Beach. Our average review exceeds 4.5 out of 5 stars with 112+ total on VRBO. We believe this reflects our doing a good job overall. Each guest has the phone number to Legacy and my cell phone. Upon arrival please let our management company know if something is not right with the unit and they will help resolve the concern as quickly as possible. While RARE it is completely possible that our cleaners could have missed something, and it is our policy to return to address the issue as soon as possible. Finally, please be very clear as to all the issues and your desired outcome. We look forward to you being a future happy guest, please call me if you have any questions! THIS GUEST: The guest indicated an issue with the bath tub but made no mention of any other problem when she contacted Legacy. Based on Legacy’s experience they believed the “substance” was cleaning agent designed to evaporate leaving the tub shiny. This was conveyed to the guest. Because none of the other concerns were identified on the call it seemed reasonable the guest would prefer to simply rinse the tub herself as opposed to have the cleaning person enter the unit. This especially considering the guest as indicated in the review made the offer to clean the tub herself. Supplies were dropped off that same evening. MATTRESS COMFORT: We have never indicated that a mattress was replaced after a guest complaint, and I as the owner am the only person that responds to VRBO reviews. Looking back April 28, 2013 I responded that we rotated the mattress. This is done annually now. The master bedroom mattress is less than 5 years old. Unfortunately, mattresses do stain. The mattress has a mattress pad and a fitted sheet so that you do not come into contact with the mattress unless you remove both. We have had two guest complain about mattress comfort out of the 200+ that have stayed in our unit. Our management company checked to see if a dip was evident in the guest room and did not find this to be the case. I will evaluate this winter as well in person. SPECIAL NOTE ABOUT SAND: This is the beach once eight folks have entered a unit with luggage and carts you will have sand on the floor nearly immediately. We sweep and mop between guest, but the only way to completely clean is during the annual deep clean with commercial equipment.

Very clean, great floor plan, very convenient access to garage and pools

  • 4 of 5

First Rick is a pleasure to work with. Very courteous, professional and prompt on all communication. Second the unit is very clean and well maintained. The flow of the floor plan is great. Plenty of storage. Door on bunk room nice bonus. Convenience of unit to garage and out to pool outstanding. It is a bit of a hike through a maze to get down the elevator and out to the beach. Amenities in unit icing on the cake with Netflix, Xbox etc. laundry and dishwasher so awesome.

Only negative is the view from balcony. Can not see ocean. Watched construction next door with large crane. My 7 year old loved watching them work but it was not very relaxing for adults and no shade. Great view for fireworks for now until tower is fully built. Soundproofing of unit superb we never heard noise from construction or hallway.

Lots of restaraunts are walkable which we were grateful for. Resort grills are cleaned daily impressed me. Pools also cleaned daily. Rocking Tacos, old bay steamers, Helen back pizza all great.

Thank you for an amazing week!

Great condo, fabulous location. Owner is great to work with.

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed this condo. While it is not ocean front we found that the location was very convenient to the pools, the ocean, and the outside door to the parking lot. The inside hallways are really nice! I wasn't expecting that added pleasure. With the 2nd floor location there was no need to lug beach chairs up stairs, just down the hall and out through the pools. The condo was nicely furnished, had everything we needed for a home away from home stay. The owner and the staff were very quick to fix a broken bathroom door lock and a missing cable box. Our only wish is that there was a better view of the ocean, but due to a hotel being built next door there is no longer a view of the ocean. We just went outside to the beach instead :) We would definitely rent this condo again and really appreciated the owner, the staff, and the great amenities.
