Casual, affordable and oh so conveniently located, Nifty Thrifty is the answer for singles, couples and small families seeking elbow room on a visit to fun and funky Eugene. Park the car in the attached garage: Around the corner (29th and Willamette) you’ll find a gourmet market, and a variety of restaurants and shops. Bring a bike or take advantage of the two bus lines that are just steps from your door – either way, you’re within minutes of Fifth Street Market, the Hult Center, Saturday Market, the University of Oregon campus and Hayward Field, or Autzen Stadium. It’s only 20 minutes by car to the Lorane Valley wine country, less than 60 to the whitewater beauty of the McKenzie River, and less than 90 to hike or ski the Cascades. Nothing’s out of reach from this location!
The one-story 1950s-vintage house features two bedrooms, a full bath, hardwood floors, a fireplace, a private fenced and landscaped backyard (roses!) and a laundry. The full-sized kitchen is equipped with all the appliances you’ll need to pull together breakfast at the dinette or serve dinner in the dining room. If there’s business on your schedule, there’s a workstation in the master bedroom and WiFi throughout the house. The neighborhood is quiet, safe, friendly, and eclectic. You might hear the neighbor’s chickens softly clucking now and then, but don’t worry – no roosters!
Said a recent guest: 'Nifty Thrifty was the perfect choice...ideally located, close to shopping, public transit, the university, and Amazon Park with its bicycle & running trails, children's playground and a great dog park. The home is spotless with all the extras one could need, even a garage for the car. The back yard was perfect for our pooches, completely fenced with plants and lawn and a small patio with a table and chairs. The neighborhood is extremely quiet with very little traffic other than the local residents. All in all, we couldn't have been more pleased...and would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone looking for a vacation rental in Eugene.'
The details:
• Queen-sized bed in the master bedroom.
• Full-sized bed in the second bedroom.
• Sofa-sleeper (queen) in the living room.
• Air bed and cot available for child use, with special owner permission.
• The house is ramp-equipped for handicapped access, though not all interior doorways are accessible.
• All linens and most cooking supplies are provided.
• Quiet dogs are welcome with owner permission.

With my husband and two teenage children, I've traveled the world -- always on a budget, preferring to spend my money on interesting locations and new experiences instead of luxurious lodging. I've brought my personal travel philosophy to Nifty Thrifty, where you'll have a place of your own with all the comforts of home. And, thanks to our very reasonable rates, you'll have the extra spending money you need to make your visit to Eugene and the Willamette Valley memorable. When you stay at Nifty Thrifty, you're not dealing with a distant owner. My family and I live just seven blocks away, and we're always happy to answer a question, solve a problem, or make a suggestion. Come visit us! We know you'll be pleased!

This house was in the family and just too sweet to let go. It's perfectly located for anybody coming to Eugene for any reason, and it's our pleasure to share it with you! Check our over 100 five-star reviews to see the many ways that Nifty Thrifty pleases its guests and leaves them promising to book again soon.
If you've ever wished you could be a local, just for the length of your stay, Nifty Thrifty lets you do that. Neighbors will nod and wave, you'll see a variety of people passing on bikes or on foot on this quiet street, and when you venture forth to shop or find a meal, you'll be taking the same steps your neighbors do day after day. Have a conversation at one of the two bus stops that are each less than a block away. Pick up your morning coffee at the bakery/deli, browse the farmer's market (in summer), select something delicious to bring home from the best markets in town, have a beer at the sushi bar or a cocktail at a stylish restaurant -- it's all just two blocks from your home-away-from-home!
We ventured here from a faraway land – Oz. We truly enjoyed our stay here and wish it could have been longer. However, moving on is life on the "Wicked" stage. Wishing you all the best! Dancing through life, Justin, Ryan, and Ryan Patrick.
We have stayed here before which is why we chose this property. Ellen keeps everything in working order and is a great host. House is convenient to shopping, restaurants, etc. although we choose renting a house so we can do our own cooking. If we have a need for renting in the area again, we would stay here.
We found Nifty Thrifty to be just what it claimed to be--a comfortable, affordable house in a friendly neighborhood. We were there for 9 nights, and would happily return.
Our stay here proved to be wonderful. Clean, well appointed, near restaurants, safe neighborhood, etc., etc. I honestly can't think of a negative. Look for yourself...there is not a better deal around Eugene than this home. Ellen was very helpful and gracious. This is now our go to VRBO when visiting our son in Eugene. You will not be disappointed.
Great place to stay. Neat as a pin! Owner lives very close and greets you and shows you around personally. Kitchen is very well stocked with everything you would need to cook a meal. Seating for 4 for dinner. Computer access and TV are great! Neighborhood near most staples that one might need -- good restaurants, Office Max, grocery store, great Thai restaurant, etc. Darling back yard. Garage. W/D. She is very accepting of pets as long as you are respectful and wipe feet and put provided covers on furniture. My dog loved it there. Good walking neighborhood too.
We enjoyed our stay even though we had to cut it short. The back yard was great for our "MAX". The location was great and the house has everything a person could ask for. We will definitely recommend it to friends and family.
Nifty Thrifty is exactly why I no longer stay in hotels - it was super quiet, comfortable, easy, and has a kitchen. Ellen was extremely easy to work with and she was as flexible as she could be with our uncertain schedule. We only stayed one night, but I would definitely return! Highly recommend.
