Feb. 2020 at Marlon Brando Hide-Away #2
House was as advertised. Large and well appointed.
Prop. manager Nir, was extremely helpful with anything we needed. He also arranged our rental car (his), at good rate.
We liked the location, away from all the resorts.
The swim deck got a fair amount of use!
Bike rental from avis at Viatape, for ride around island.
Matira beach well worth a visit. Saw a Manta in the shallows.
People very friendly, and spoke english well enough.
Chin-Lee grocery in town has whatever needed for fixing meals at the home - great for families. (has good meat dept.)
Bring along a sharp knife, (a sharp folding type all you need).
Otherwise, kitchen is well stocked.
We never used the wide screen TV, so unplugged it and put on floor in corner out of way, so we could watch varied boat and canoe traffic instead ("tahitian TV").
There is good wifi. Plenty of towels. A washing machine too!
Just bring reef shoes & snorkeling stuff, and you'll be all set.
We planned on doing some hikes, but Feb. was rainy season.
Trails too steep for wet conditions (OK if a technical climber!)
Very relaxing. Quiet. Peaceful.
A good value for a place that can sleep 4 people.
Note: I had read other reviews critical of :
1.) a hard to slide door to the deck. It's NOT that hard.
And actually is a safety feature if you have small kids who might wander out on the deck/into water un-noticed.
2.) The decor described as being too dark.
Well, the dark curtains help filter glare when bright sun reflects off the water in late afternoon if home and indoors.
Otherwise we just had them open all the time.
So, IMO, no need to change a thing.
Our favorite vacation
Stayed in one of Richard’s nearby units five years ago. Made this trip back to French Polynesia specifically to stay here again. Unit is wonderful - no need to leave it if you choose not to. Most relaxation we experience anywhere in the world. Wonderful snorkeling off of deck, well equipped kitchen, fantastic views, comfortable bed. Nir, the local manager is a jewel - always friendly and quickly responsive. Don’t know why anyone would stay elsewhere on Bora Bora.
Wonderful Stay in Bungalow #2
Property is as depicted on the site. Spacious bungalow with a great shower/water pressure. Main door wall/sliding door is VERY hard to open, mainly used the master bedroom to go in & out to deck.
Many reviews mentioned the mattresses a the two single beds have new mattresses in and are nice and firm.
Richard (owner) and Nir (property manager) were both easy to communicate with and very accommodating.
Highly recommend staying here & we even stayed at the Four Seasons one day/night prior to staying here and can honestly say we enjoyed this better. It’s great to be able to have a car and explore and have your own groceries in the house!
Loved our stay at the Marlon Brando's bungalow
We had an amazing experience at the bungalow. The bungalow is big - we were a family of 4 and the kids had lots of fun. It was super-relaxing to wake up to the sound of water splashing against the pillars.
.. And the best part of the trip was Nir. Nir is an amazing property manager and he was always there to help us.
Awesome! Will return
Love this bungalow and will be back.
Thank you Nancy! Hope to have you back again!
Many thanks :)
The owners of the Black Pearl are proud to announce the acquisition and remodel of both of Marlon Brando's famous Over water Bungalows. Jack Nicholson owned #3. James Michener called Bora Bora 'The most beautiful island in the world. And it is, it really is. Bora Bora is one of the Society Islands in the South Pacific, Tahiti being the largest. It is only a seven and a half hour flight from Los Angeles and only three hours earlier PST. The same time zone as Hawaii. To get there, you take a direct flight to Tahiti and then a 45 minute island hopper to Bora Bora. You are now officially in paradise. Use your state of the art kitchen to prepare a meal, or dine out at the many fine restaurants on the island. The activities are endless if you wish to keep busy, or just lie down on the veranda, listen to the water and finish that 1000 page book you can't seem to finish. Life takes on new meaning when you are surrounded by the serenity and the beauty of Bora Bora. Come and see for yourself!
