About the host

Host profile image
We are an English couple who came to France looking for an alternative life with our son who was preschool. We wanted to work for ourselves, be with our children and create something special during the period that stability and education is needed for our family. We have worked extremely hard for 20 years, putting every bit of energy and money into creating the accommodation and services on offer today. We enjoy having guests and have consistently delivered highly rated accommodation and value for money.

Why they chose this property

Pechboutier seemed the perfect spot for us. A hamlet of about 20 houses, grown from a farming community with excellent links to both the Dordogne and Vezere valleys, offering a calm and extremely peaceful environment. We needed to attract visitors yet we wanted our children to be in a safe and secure community where everyone knew who they were and they could roam until they were hungry. We thought it important for our children to have independence within secure parameters. We offer this environment for other young families.

What makes this property unique

Le Chevrefeuille is the name of our property. It is an ensemble of sandstone buildings. The barn and out buildings holds three lovely self catering gites whilst the main farm building is the owners home and cookery school, surrounded by gardens and a large pool. It offers quality modern accommodation within the charm of a 19th century farmhouse setting. Our cottages are serviced, breakfast options are available and help and advice is always on hand. We offer an indoor playroom and outdoor child’s play area.
The cottages offer two or three bedrooms, well equipped cooking facilities inside but the beauty is that all cottages offer their own private terraces, two have outdoor kitchens which are shaded and secluded but roll naturally onto the meadow garden at the rear of the property and the pool. The views look over the valley woodlands.
Cookery courses are offered every week in english, introducing the regional ingredients and food to the participants in a fun and informal way. These prove very popular and are a great fun activity.
